I'm not sure why, but my interest in retro gaming has been sparked as of late. I purchased a SNES from a fellow CAG and while I was at a random SPCA thrift store in North Port, FL I found this...

The console was priced at $6.99 and the games $1.87each. So, for about $15 I got the console, four games, three controllers and an RF adapter. I wasn't sure if the console worked as it was missing the AC adapter, but I figured even if it didn't work it would be a donation to the SPCA. Today at S&F Videogames...

shop here for your retro needs please
...I brought in my quasi-new Genesis and Susan(one of the owners noted on their card) tested it out and it worked I picked up a 1st party 6 button controller, two games (EXO Squad & NBA Jam TE), an A/V cable (to replace the RF adaptor), and the new power supply.

I've never owned a Genesis although I have played a few of the popular titles like Sonic & Streets of Rage. The only other two titles I can think of off hand that I know I want to pickup are Michael Jackson's Moonwalker & Time Killers. So, fellow CAG what Genesis games should I be looking out for?

You must get Phantasy Star II-IV, Streets of Rage 2, Gunstar Heroes, Lightening Force IV (its misspelled on the packaging), and probably check out Racketboy for more recommendations.

Thats really weird, I've been in a huge retrophase myself right now as well. I bought a Sega CDX for $100 last week and have been obsessed with picking up games on the cheap for it as well.

I have extra copies of nhl 93, 94 or 95 i'll sell you for next to nothing if you're interested, let me know in a PM.

Rocket Knight Adventures is a great genesis game. Doesn't hurt that it's super cheap as well- I managed to get a complete copy off ebay for $3 shipped. Dynamite Headdy is another fun one, as is Comix Zone.

I went through a Genesis phase for a bit as well. Favorite titles of mine included Shadowrun (which I see you got already). If you like Maximum Carnage check out the X-Men game. Other favorites of mine included Comix Zone, Flashback, and Shining Force I and II.

oscargrouch: Thanks for the site. So much to look through. I wish I didn't have dial-up

The Boognish: Thanks for the offer, but I'm not too big on sport titles.

Thanks for the recommendations so far. I was thinking about picking up Spider-Man Separation Anxiety since it is co-op. Any other co-op recommendations?

I agree with chuckie88 on ComixZone, just be forewarned that the game is HARD.

I also recommend Contra Hard Corps, Gunstar Heroes, General Chaos, Vectorman 1 and 2, and Championship Pro Am.

I would recommend Mortal Kombat 2, Comix Zone, NHL 94, Flashback, Beyond Oasis and any of the Shining Force or Phantasy Star games. I also would recommend Revenge of Shinobi. You get to fight Spiderman,Terminator,Batman and Godzilla that alone should make you buy it.

Shadowrun, nice. You need to get Shadowrun for the SNES. That game is all kinds awesome.

doctorfaustus: The SNES one is fantastic. I already played & beat it, but I'll probably try to hunt down a copy.

Thanks for more fantastic recommendations. I spent a good amount of time last night looking at the hardware because I heard your could make it output S-Video, but alas mine doesn't have the video encoder that would allow me to do so.

But, I digress keep those recommendations coming!
I was going to say shadowrun, but you have it. Only other games I would say are Mutant league football and hockey, the best sports games ever... It is the one series I really wish would come out in hd.
