Messing with the PSP

I spent a bunch of time messing with my PSP yesterday. Decided to investigate the custom firmware scene. I'm always amazed what people can do when they're driven by some purpose. The single most amazing thing you can do is put a bunch of UMD images on your Memory Stick and woohoo, no more need to carry around a bunch of game disks. Of course, now I need a much bigger memory stick. My plan was to hold out until the 32gb sticks were available and cheaper, at that point I could store all my music, a few games and maybe a couple of videos. 16gb pro duo's can be had for about $150, but I think I can wait longer...

Played some Space Invaders Extreme on the PSP, they did a good job making the game more up-to-date and it'll hold your interest for a while. It's good to play for 20-30 mins at a time.

Played some Patapon too... just for the record, I totally suck at rhythm games and this is like torture. I just love everything about the game though, if I had some alternate control method, I'm sure I would have finished the game already. I have only managed to get to the point where you get the run-away command. I have no-idea how far through the game I am at this point.

I run the folding at home thing on my PS3 and a couple of PC's. CAG folding at home group is currently like 220th folding team. I just downloaded the new GPU2 folding software for PC's that utilizes the latest ATI or Nvidia graphics cards. I'm producing a huge chunk of work units per day now. Might even catch that Marten dude ;-)

Going to head on down to Gamestop today with the 25% off 2 used 360 games coupon, but I doubt I'll find much that I don't already have and still want.

I am also interested in messing around with my PSP, do you think you can give me some advice on how to start? I have a phat psp and the firmware is the one before 4.0. Really appreciated!

PSP's with CFW are great. I have a Phat and a God of War PSP, both have CFW 4.01 M33-2 on ithem right now. I started using them because of loading times, when running a game from a UMD, the loading times are atrocious and having the ISO of a game on a memory stick helps a lot. There are also some great homebrew games out there that I play from time to time. I still continue to buy games even tho I have CFW, not all of us use the CFW for pirating purposes.
I think if you have a Firmware version > 3.4, the only way to get custom firmware is via the Pandora Battery. Google for that and you'll find lots of info. I really want to check out the Atari ST emulator next to see if it runs the games I wrote years ago ;-) You can download the games at www.kewlplace.com/sinister if you care... If you want to play the games on a PC, get the Steem emulator, it's very cool. How is the God of War game? I haven't played the PS2 games, so should I get a PS2 game and play it on the PS3 or is the PSP version worth playing?
