Test Drive Unlimited 2

It's Test Drive Unlimited 2! (Sorry for the pseudo-game-announce blog, but I haven't seen this posted in many places. In fact, I learned about it from The Magic Box (who appears to have gotten their info/screens from this thread at Forza Central), which is pretty unusual.) This is a strange coincidence because I just finished the first Test Drive Unlimited last week after playing it for probably a month, and it was a great time the whole way through. I was first intrigued by its MMO driving premise and the fact that it takes place on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, which I've visited many times. As it turned out, it's not even close to a 1:1 replica of the island (although some areas were quite faithfully recreated) and the MMO aspect is a bit diminished since it's a few years after launch, but I still had a lot of fun exploring all the coastal and mountain roads and saving up to buy a bunch of (expensive) real world cars. In fact, I don't know if it's because I'm burned out (har) on TDU, but I just started Burnout Paradise this weekend thinking it would be hands-down superior and I think I actually prefer the driving in TDU over the BP I've played so far. So, I'm very much looking forward to the sequel. It looks like it's still on Oahu and they've added improved graphics, weather effects (rain!), better character customization, and driving schools. You can read more about the new features at the ForzaCentral post. No platform was announced but I'm assuming it'll be at least on 360 and PC. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a PS3 version as well, since the PS3 wasn't even out when the first TDU launched. I'm going to go scour the thread for more details now. |

Well to me Test Drive Unlimited was great in concept but the controls were really meh. Burnout Paradise plays better but doesn't come close to the content/island size difference between the two.
If they can fix the handling I'll gladly buy TDU2. A well playable demo would seal the deal for me. |

I was really interested in TDU when I first heard about it but it came and went with little fanfare. I'm not sure if it was released during a holiday rush or is just had a quiet release but I just never even knew when it came out.

I loved TDU, and the news of a TDU2 brings a smile to my face.
