Well look whose still alive. That's right folks, I'm back with yet another blog post! Why have I been quiet for so long? Well it's kind of hard to post when you have a ice storm knocks power out to roughly 607,000 people on your side of the state!
Honestly the internet couldn't have picked a more shitty time to go out. With the Luner Festival in World of Warcraft coming to an end, I was working on achieving level 80 and hoping to get the last few achievements from the holiday so I could make further progress towards my flying drake mount. But I guess fate had something else planned, as the event has already passed. The one good thing that came out of it was me being somewhat forced to actually sit down and finish a few titles I've had sitting on the back burner for a while. Fallout 3: I finally was able to finish this game, and man was it one heck of a ride! I, unfortunately, had a real stupid moment. It wasn't until the last act of the game that I finally realized I how to repair weapons by myself by pressing R. After figuring that out I went from surviving off of scrap and dealing 10-15 damage to blowing heads off with 32-35! Dead Rising: With no Internet I decided to wipe out my VGA cable and try it out. While this game does live up to my expectations, I can see why a lot of people are not happy with some of the game design decisions with this game. The save system here can easily make or break you. My biggest problem however is a lack of a means to fast forward time and feeling inadequate. For example, I've completed all the main tasks for the first day and have to wait until 6:00AM on day two before I can continue along the main quest. Considering the characters in game suggest you stay and sleep, you'd think there would be a fast forward action. Unfortunately there's not, so you have to wonder around or leave your Xbox on for about an hour in order to continue on. To make matters worse, any attempt I make to do the side missions have resulted in failure due to all of them requiring me to travel through the park at night! For those not familiar with the game: After a set time on the first day, three escaped prisoners will ride around in a stolen jeep with turret on the back and make escorting or saving anyone a royal pain in the behind! Naruto Rise of a Ninja: I wasn't really expecting much out of this game to begin with, so the experience so far has been alright. My biggest complaint though has got to be how rushed the ending felt. I know a lot of things from the anime where skipped, but a lot of the clips they used at the end of the game just made you go “Wait, what?”, and not in the “what cheesy lines” way. Like all of a sudden Sakura, or whatever the name of the pink haired girl is, is suddenly captured and is all important, or how Saska has some kind of black stuff eating him up. I know they skip a lot of bits and pieces, and in some ways I appreciate it, since anime loves to repeat itself and do flash backs, but they could have at least had a three second explanation. Again, I'm just splitting hairs here but this is, after all, a kids game marketed to fans of the series who already know what happened, Crysis: Warhead: Oh I would love to talk about this game. I was really looking forward to having the resource intensive game break my new machines cherry for me and see how it runs. Unfortunately, I can not. As the game comes packaged with that oh so wonderful SECURE ram and requires a call home before I can even play the damn thing! Kind of hard to online authenticate something without Internet, no? Honestly I can't believe this crap, I can understand for online mode but for the single player campaign?! And what about people in situations like me who lost there Internet for whatever reason? Now I see first hand what the Spore people where ranting about, and I'll make double sure in the future that any game I buy does not have this software. Does the Steam version have this crap? |
