Have you guys read this Yahoo! article. I saw while I was checking my email. http://videogames.yahoo.com/feature/is-quot-e74-quot-the-xbox-360-s-new-red-ring-of-death-/1299076 This craziness. After having so many problems with the red ring of death, now we have a new error to weather. And this one isn't covered in the warranty. In the words of Wombat" Get ready to spread you cheeks" Fixing this new error cost $100. What fun!!! Makes you think twice of buying a 360, doesn't it. And now go to goggle and Yahoo and type in Red Ring Of Death Images. That's Fuck craziness. Yet its not a problem right?!!! |

Well, that sucks. Now people have to worry about the E74 error and their consoles melting. What sucks even more Microsoft charging $100 for the repair.

Are they ever going to fix this 360 SNAFU they have put themselves in? I guess we'll be seeing more YouTube videos from people lamenting that their 360 died via the E74 error and more comments from those with a caveman mentality. I'm sure fellow Yahoo! Games correspondent and ardent Xbot Ben Silverman will deny, deny, deny the problem.

The video on my first xbox went out with out an E74 error. The screen was just black. I think it must be something came loose inside.

The video on mine went out last November. It was still under warranty and they fixed it no problem.

Um... RROD is still more common, and you can always call and tell them you got the RROD. They will cover it 99% of the time.
Check the 360 forum for RRODs and you'll see a hardware failure 90% of the time is still RROD. Still would buy a $199 XBox over a $399 PS3 anyday anyways, or were you saying maybe I should think twice and buy a Wii instead? lolllll |

NO!!
Wii. HELL NO!!!! I want a 360 but don't wanna shell out $200 for an arcade and $75 for a hard drive and get error code that doesn't get covered in the warranty, you know. I'm buying a i pod touch this week, my i pod nano is starting to die on me. I just traded some stuff for a DS Lite and the new pokemon game. So I guess the next thing is a 360 or should I just buy a PS2 cause i know it wont break. Yet I want to go on the marketplace, play Live with friends and CAGs. I just dont know!!! |

I really wouldn't be too worried about this problem, and I wouldn't let it stop you from buying a 360. If you do eventually have this problem, just tell MS that you have RROD.

Apparently my cousin just started getting this error last night. MS wants $100 to fix it -- and this is after he sent it in twice with the RROD

I bought both, a PS3 and an Xbox360... to be honest, If my Xbox broke, i would not send it in for a 100$ repair bill. I would sell its games and call it a done deal.
The RRoD rate (and now a new error? wha?) is just ridiculous when compared to other systems, IMO. I wouldnt bother to send it in, pay 100$, then have it break again at some point... then pay another 100$ or buy another? I'd have to pass on those odds, sadly. :( |

I got the e74 error last week luckily i was still under the 1 year warranty. Theres no way I would pay microsoft a hundred dollars to fix it.

I got the E74 right after GTA IV came out last year on my (then) 6 month old Elite. Lame but fixed under warranty. I'm waiting for the replacement to do it again.
If this happens out of warranty. Just call it the RRoD and play dumb customer. Silly M$. |

Not surprising at all sadly.

The E74 error is an old and known problem. Now that the RRoD rate has lowered, we should see more E74 since the 360 was more likely to RRoD before the E74 error happened.

I bought a new arcade and sold the refurbished one MS sent me back after I got the RRoD because I wanted a new model with HDMI and everything. 6 days after I got it, it got the E74 error. I took it back to Best Buy, because seriously, 6 days? Got a new one. 30 days later got the error again. Took it back again (bought the 2 year warranty), got another one. The one I have now has been working fine for a couple months now.

This is what happens when a company knowingly and intentionally manufactures poorly made hardware, and then idiotic consumers ENABLE M$ to continue doing so by buying 3-4 consoles in its lifetime.
STOP BUYING SHITTY HARDWARE. Unless of course you want the next xbox console to also be a piece of shit, enablers. |
