GTA IV is booooooooooring |

Am I the only person to walk this earth who thinks that the story on GTA IV is boring? It's like "yeah I'll kill him for you", then "yeah I'll kill him for you", then "yeah I'll do a robbery for you", then "yeah I'll kill him for you". Come on Rockstar your efforts are wearing thin, you should have left it at San Andreas. If you just so happen to come by this blog please give me your opinion.

You have to keep an open mind to the fact that there are only so many things that can be done with the mission based game. If it's not killing, then what? It's what they made the character out to be (off the boat trying to make a living) and went with it. Personally, I don't think it's so bad, went with something different and it works for me. Just my own opinion.

I loved it. Then on my second play through I got kind of sick of it. I think what did it for me was the fact that i felt different when I was playing this GTA. The older GTA games I loved just running around and killing people and in this one I didn't find myself doing that at all. I really enjoyed this game, except for the multiplayer which I think was only alright.

To me it just sounds like you are experiencing "franchise fatigue" as you aren't really attacking anything specific but rather the game as a whole based on past experience with the series.
To me GTA IV is enough of an "upgrade" from the previous ones to warrant my time. Yeah the quests can get repetitive but there's lots of side-quests and diversions and to me Rockstar really put in a lot of effort to warrant the price tag. I'm not trying to say your opinion is not valid, far from it. There are other series that I'm "fatigued" on as well (MGS, Zelda) that are still popular however I can't go near them now because I'm sick of their established formulas. Hopefully you've already moved on to another series maybe one you haven't tried before and can enjoy it now. |

i think gtaiv is a step down. San Andreas is much more enjoyable. Vice City stories has more to do too and the music is better. This being said, GTAIV was worthy my $60. i bought a 360 b/c of this game. I think rockstar took gtaIII and gave it a better story with prettier graphics and of course the city is bigger. The most disappointing thing is how brown and dull everything is. it's not a pleasure to just explore and find packages b/c what is the reward for finding packages? i also almost always hear the pigeon before seeing it b/c rockstar wanted to go with a realistic theme when gta, to me at least, is a comedic game.
there it is. |

I think I rushed myself too much playing thru this game cuz I finished the story too fast and now it is just boring. After the first fanboy impressions wear off I can start seeing the flaws in the game play and dullness after all the missions are complete.
