Hey Sony,
Here's a Supply-Demand Curve. Figure it out. Love, House |

I'm sure your own personal market research is much better than theirs.

I'm sure when they announced the price, you said "F- YEAH! I GOTTA GET ME ON SOME OF THAT!"
Anyway, it's a joke. Laugh a little. |

Pretty bad joke considering that particular graph doesn't come close to representing Sony's pricing model. But w/e, everyone's a comedian and can make business decisions better than the big wigs.

Geez, you're uptight.
Anyway, if Sony's not following a supply-demand curve, they're doing something fundamentally wrong. In actuality, their business model is to brute force the demand curve to the right by adding to the perceived value of the product. Obviously it works on some people. Those are the innovators and early adopters, according to the diffusion process. However, to achieve success with the pricing model, Sony needs to further brute their notion of perceived value or (gasp) drop the price. There is absolutely no model where a price hike during an economic crisis amidst stiff competition as well as cannibalizing their core audience without taking into account the fundamental correlation between supply and demand (long-winded statement, I know). It just doesn't happen. If that's what they're doing, it makes sense that Sony's in such a tough financial situation. Remember, every single user of CAG probably made more money than Sony did last year and probably will this year (with their $1B+ deficits). Instead, they hype up a new SKU, debut it during a fever pitch week, and sell it at an amped-up price for the holidays. That's fundamental sensationalism business. However, it still all has to do with the supply-demand curve. However, I'm sure you probably know something that I don't. |

I laughed cause it's true. I'm just not sure who is going to buy this, when you have cheaper handhelds for gaming (DSi) and smart phones for around the same price that have similar media playback functionality as the PSPGo with the added ability of voice calls. Why would a non-gamer buy this, instead of an Ipod Touch? Why would a gamer buy this, instead of the much cheaper PSP 3K or DSi?
If they could have priced the PSPGo at $175 or even $200, it might have a chance. But $250, in this economy, is a probable death sentence. |

Sony is passing on the savings after gutting the UMD drive and throwing in a smaller screen, lol

I would get a PSP Go, when it reaches say $150. And though I think its been mentioned, I want to be able to buy UMDs and then have them be converted to play on the PSP Go. So see I can still stick with my launch PSP really...

Chances are I am getting one as well. Yeah its not a huge leap compared to the old model but I mean damn it didnt I go thru the same thing with the GBA systems....and there was nothing wrong there. So yeah I can see myself buying this on day one. Grant if I have the spare cash to buy one when it comes out.
I do know one thing I am buying this at say Best Buy rather than Gamestop only because I learned my lesson with dealing with GS and there "warranty". After my first PSP had an issue with dead pixels (remember that problem) GS at one point was refusing to replace my PSP with a new even tho I was under warranty. In the end after much headache and dispute they changed it but then revoked my warranty due to the fact that they can not be held responsible for what they "manufacture" issue. So then what good is warranty? If they dont cover the problems. Seriously people avoid getting this device at GS since you are screwed if it breaks. |
