I thought I'd share this with you guys. I take a look at the Guitar Hero drum kit and the Rock Band 2 drum kit to see which is the BEST kit overall.
I am NOT comparing the games, just the drum kits. I know not all of us will not see eye to eye on this. But this is the best un-biased look at the drums I could do. Part 1 Part 2 |

i personally don't like the WT drum kit because of the bass pedal i just don't like it and i have never had a problem with the RB2 drums no bubbles or cracked pads and i use it almost everyday i personally would like the ION drum rocker but i need a real good deal on it because it's $300

I almost never play the drums so I'm fairly neutral about them. What I will say is that I work at Best Buy and we have a display with RB2 drums and another with GHWT drums.
Customers abuse the hell out of both of them. The Rock Band 2 drums work at almost 100% but they look like they have been in a blender. All the parts are still intact, just the drum pads sometimes come off but it's an easy fix. The GHWT drums look slightly better but they have several broken parts. The tabs that hold the drumsticks are busted, the cymbals only respond half the time to being hit and are loose (can't really repair) the kick pedal is wonky. We have had to replace both drums one time each. But if you'r going to ask which drum set holds up it's easily the Rock Band 2 ones. The first World Tour set didn't last a week before it had broken pieces and the second one is nearing death after a few months. The RB2 set has been up for a bit longer and works fine. Given customers and their kids I'd say these drumsets both go through the worst kind of stress test they can so I thought I'd put in my two cents. "Oh listen, I can hear someone playing drums from across the store even when we're open, packed, the drums are padded and music is playing all over the store. Someone's kid must be banging on them again" |

@ wcraigw
I am in and out of many BBys and that is pretty consistent with what I see as well. |

Nice videos. What matters to me is the one built the best. I haven't got one yet,but I'll get a rock band one for sure now.

Rock Band 2 drums are WAY WAY better than guitar hero's. I would also say that rock band in general is better than guitar hero world tour

From my painful experience (Ive been through at least 5 kits), they both suck. If you have to get one or the other, go for the Rock Band drums, they are harder to break. But I would invest in one of those expensive ion sets, they seem to be the best.

Yeah the IONS are better than both kits, but c'mon, this is Cheap Ass Gamer, and those drums are $300!
