This was the IAP price and I didn't even feel like haggling since it had an initial on it and was already cheap enough for me. This was the first sale I went to on Friday as it advertised "video games". Was lazy and got to it late, probably almost 8:30 bunch of games mostly PS2, some PS3 & PC with some stuff marked $10 and over. Asked about older video games and was told that they already sold an N64 and about 15 games.
The Bard's Tale II (Apple II, Complete) - .50
Pretty sure this is complete, asking a buck but took .50
Sega Smash Pack 2 In Jewel Case (PC) - $1
IAP didn't feel like haggling for something with an initial on it.
Final Fantasy XI Online (Spring 2004 Version) Guide - $1
Ice Wind Dale II Guide - $1
Forgot to include these in the picture. They also had Neverwinter Nights with the Versus Guide that I passed on at this sale but I already have the game and it was marked $5. Initial again so I didn't even feel like haggling since I wasen't spending much overall this weekend anyways.
Luigi's Mansion (GC)
Resident Evil (GC)
$5
Found these at a sale I ran into that wasen't advertised in the paper. $3 each or 2 for $5. Seemed fair enough to me after seeing so many people with last gen games at an IAP of $5 (maybe $4). Probably about 20 PS2 & 5 GC total would have grabbed a few others if I didn't already have them.
Donkey Kong Country
Firepower 2000
Gradius III
Jungle Book, The
Lion King, The
NBA Hang Time
NCAA Football
Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure
Super Empire Strikes Back
Super Mario World x2
Tom And Jerry
Ultimate Mortal Kombat
$5
Asked about video games at this sale and this was brought out. Younger kid (probably about 10) brought them out and said they never play them, offered $5 for all which was easily taken. These games are about as dirty as could be but I actually didn't have a few so hopefully they clean up ok and all or most of them work.
NES Power Pad In Box - $1
Found this at a sale that I ran into that wasen't advertised in the paper on Saturday, no price took a buck. Mentioned having some NES games but they all sold on Friday.
Alien 3 (GB)
Street Fighter II (GB)
$2
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins - $1
2 sales right by each other, asked about video games at both and each house brought out a handful of GB/GBC games. 1st sale lady said I could have for $2 each or all 5 for $8. I offered $2 for 2 which was taken. 2nd sale kid went down the street to where he lived and came back with a few games and I only picked out SML2 which he wanted a buck for. They also mentioned having (IIRC 3) SNES games at the 2nd sale that I missed.
Super Mario 64 Mini Pinball Table - .50 [IAP]
Laserscope (In crap shape) - .25
No price no problem taking .25 for it.
DS/GBA Charger - $1.50
Advertised "video games" at this sale but I didn't bother busting my ass to try and show up early as it was a house I've been to before but they didn't have any video games during my last visit a whole 2 weeks ago lol or anything special mentioned when I asked about older video games. Usual last gen prices and 360 games at $10 a pop besides what I got at IAP.
Tomb Raider In Jewel Case For PC - .25 [IAP]
Super Mario World With Dust Cover - $1
Asked about video games at this sale and brought out an extra copy of Super Mario World that they had which they accepted a buck for.
Non Find BS
Only went out for a little over an hour on Friday and hit up about 10 sales but Saturday I was out from about 8:30 til shortly after 2, way too long and late in the day many sales late on my list where closed up for the day (partly because it was late and partly becuase it looked like it could rain at any moment from about 11:30 and on) I did still manage to make up for not doing much on Friday by getting to about 50 sales on Saturday.
Took my number at 2 sales one not so promising and another a NES with a lot, I would guess 20-25 games. As I mentioned 2 weeks ago seemed like one of those people that have an old video game system around that they have no interest in playing but don't want to sell before researching it as they don't want to get rid of it for less then it's worth thanks to such things as eBay being so main stream now adays.
I had one sale where I asked about video games and when I walked away after not having anything I heard somebody start talking about a 2600 they had at home, but I don't even bother prying on something like this since nobody calls back ever with the whole number thing and it would seem too desperate. They probably wouldn't have really wanted to sell it anyways so I only ever go along with giving out my number on a situration like this if they call me back and suggest taking my number.
A few sales this week that had gamers that have multiple systems, one some older folks that sounded like they still play a 2600 from time to time with many older systems that still get used in the family, and one guy said he was a collector and was telling me about how he got a JVC X Eyes (free IIRC) when he worked at EBgames as somebodly brought it in and they didn't take Genesis stuff by that point.
Some overpriced (for yardsales or for some of these anywhere!) video game stuff I saw this weekend.
Usual assortment of $5 last gen games, and I did see a GameCube & Xbox at 2 different sales with little or no games for $30.
Genesis With 7-9 games $35 - I was only interested in Castlevania Bloodlines (complete plastic case) rest crap or really really common and they were selling as a bundle, talking to the lady she was a gamer with NES, SNES etc etc etc, didn't feel like trying to haggle or convince her to just sell me Castlevaina with a starting price of $35 for this.
Blue regular DS with with WarioWare: Touched! cart only in it with no charger marked $50. I offered $20 just for the hell of it to which the lady offered to go in and ask her kid who was sleeping who said it was $50 firm lol
One sale advertised a Wii (first time for me seeing one at a yardsale) I wasen't surprised that it was still around and marked way too high for a yardsale, $200 for the system complete in box, Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility, Dokapon Kingdom - $25 each, Manhunt 2 & Resident Evil 5 Wii Edition - $30 each!!!
Nice finds. The yard sales by me are pretty crappy, but the last time I went to the flea market I had a couple decent finds. I think I just figured out what I'm doing Saturday morning.
While what you may find at yardsales can vary depending on how lucky you are do keep in mind that what you may find on the average in your area may differ from what may be found on the average day in other areas.
One example I could give is TurboGrafx 16. EBgames was the only store that carried it new back in the day around here so it's no surprise that I've never found any TurboGrafx 16 stuff at a yardsale around me. On the other hand in a bigger area that had multiple stores that carried TG16 stuff you may run into TG16 stuff from time to time if you do enough yardsaling.
It can be tough to keep motivated when trying to find something good video game related at yardsales as you could go to 30+ sales without finding something good, which obviously can be very discouraging.
I should also give a plug for the "Official 2009 Yard Sale Thread" which I keep forgetting to do.
