dem bones

Not fun.....smacked my ankle bone (inside) into a vertical level on the steamer that my wife left in the open position. It has been a long, long time since I've done something like that....I was quickly reminded just how painful can be. On a side note it looks like someone tried to dice my ankle.

New comic! Deathsourcing Magic The Gathering

Please check it out:
http://legacy-control.com/2012/01/23/deathsourcing/ The Strip: As I mentioned in Monday's blog post, I rekindled the old flame of MtG…or Magic The Gathering. I am talking the tangible version here people. None of this xbox live jazz. Face to face raw emotion. Now the card depicted above is a total fabrication for humor sake, but here is a list of some real cards that are as mighty: Progenitus Blightsteel Colossus Iona, Shield of Emeria Baneslayer Angel Sheoldred, Whispering One Google these and bear witness to their respective might. Gaming: I have become slightly addicted to Gave Dev Story and Hero Academy..so much so that I have actually been commanded by my wife to stop playing them…so I did…pretty much. It sucks because I just purchased me some Dark Elf action…which seems racist. Also a little bit of Rayman with my daughter, which will most likely yield a strip... |

Establishing a CAG Blog |
|
I've always liked writing. I would even love to do it as a career. I especially love technical writing (like, writing a walkthrough for a video game) and I think I'm much stronger at that than I am at creative/journalistic writing. But I don't think I write enough, so that's why I'm starting this blog, so I can work on my writing skills a little bit. I'm hoping to update it 3-4 times per week, but we shall have to see how that goes.
Anyways, here are my headlines for the day: It's Tuesday!!!! As a CAG, Tuesday is my favorite day of the week. New sales are usually announced and posted for XBLA/PSN/WP7 and Tuesday seems to be the day where the most video-game related news content is posted. XBLA Update: Major Nelson posted the bi-weekly "Coming Soon to Xbox LIVE Marketplace" and it's pretty craptastic. Deal of the Weeks for both this week and next are both repeats from the holiday sale less than a month ago. This week's... |

Well, I'm off to Skyrim. See you in several months.
By Danimal 01-24-2012 09:36 AM
|
![]() It may seem a bit presumptuous to make a blog post announcing to the world that you're about to start playing a new game, even if that game is a universally loved, epic, all but consensus Game of the Year. I mean, who cares what I'm playing, right? Right. That's not the point of this post, though, or at least not the main point. As I've been preparing to start Skyrim, I've been thinking about the idea of stepping outside of one's gaming "comfort zone", and wondering how often gamers do that. For me, there could scarcely be a game more outside my personal comfort zone than Skyrim. I've never played any of the Elder Scrolls series, and in fact my RPG experience is limited to... well, let's see.... Mass Effect 2, the Zelda series, and that's about it. Some hardcore RPG fans might argue that those are RPG-lite, or may not consider them part of the genre at all. No, I'm... |

100%: Kingdom Hearts
By MiNuN 01-24-2012 03:09 AM

|
"100%" by MiNuN is a series of blogs that showcases the games I have beaten with everything it has to offer, hence "100%". This includes the story, side quests, hidden characters, achievements, ultimate equipments & items etc...It varies from game to game. With these blogs, I will post a picture of the game along with the title of the blog, looking for a discussion in the comments section, so feel free to say anything or ask anything! I might not even post any text at all in the blog, but if there is anything that comes to my mind about the game I have beaten to 100%, you can bet I will type it out! Please enjoy "100%"
![]() - Used a strategy guide I bought to 100% it - My Sora level is 99 due to hours of grinding - Will 100% it again in the future since I totally forgot the feeling of this game (beat it as a kid) - One of my... |

HELP: Starting a website, need registrar/hosting suggestions. |
|
UPDATE:
Full refund from Bluehost is in process. The domain name has been released so I am (unless someone else registers it) free to "re-register" it. I am unsure if I should go for separate registrar and web host or someone that does both; I definitely want private registration so personal info does not appear on whois. The site will be blog format so the web host should be Wordpress compatible. I would like also like to generate some revenue (a lot would be great but that's not realistic starting out). Trolls, (near)bannings and bias...OH MY!
By IAmTheCheapestGamer 01-24-2012 01:12 AM
|
|
The following is an opinion. If you agree with it, great. If not, oh well. It's the first opinion I have not censored or edited beyond recognition in a year. If it gets me banned, then it just proves my point about a clear bias around here. I do love this site and all of the deals I have managed to get over my nearly 7 years here. There are some great members on this site and albeit there are quite a few who I'd really love to tell face to face to just go <expletive deleted> themselves(and I'm sure they'd love to tell me the same).
Anyway..... I received a written warning I was about to be banned from here in Feb of 2011. I received no previous silencings or temp bans for my apparent grievous transgressions on here up to that point.
Although now that I think about it, I do recall a temp ban in 2006 or so soon after I joined.
Apparently I was too abhorrent of an abomination to be allowed to continue in the manner in which I was behaving on the site. So they just skipped ahead of all of the other usual avenues used to get errant members to get back in line and behave and went to the final option as a first option. Yet I continue to see posts from other 'trolls' who insult and degrade others on an almost daily basis and see not one consequence for them. Not a single one. Yet I've had to bite my tongue and swallow my bile for almost a year out of fear of being blacklisted. Funny how that works, huh? I know, I know. I should worry about my own behavior and not that of others. But it just seems......what's the word I'm looking for? Oh yeah. Biased. That's why I really am thinking of just going lurker sooner than later, since the site is 90% lurkers or quasi-lurkers anyway(300k registered users, 30k actual active posters). You only need to go to the code drop threads to see how many codes get sniped without so much as a thank you to see lurkers en masse in action. So I might as well just join the crowd and not contribute(or attempt to). God knows what you get when you try to post a deal around here anymore anyway(zomg not a deal, shipping kills the deal, etc, etc). Funnier still is that it's usually the same handful of folks posting how it's not a deal or shipping kills the deal or whatever too. Wouldn't that too be considered trolling? I know some of you wouldn't miss me and might actually cheer if it happens. Oh well. I'm not on here seeking approval from any of you. I am who I am and if it makes me a 'troll' for being bluntly honest, then so be it. I'm just sick and tired of seeing what I(and some others) feel is a clear bias/favoritism that's being shown when dealing with some members while the book is being thrown at other members.... |

Who among you collects video games like myself?
By GrimmTrixX 01-23-2012 09:37 PM
|
|
I have been playing video games since age 4 with my dad's Atari 2600. I am now almost 29 in a few months and I own over 2300 video games spanning Atari to Xbox 360. Unfortunately for me I don't know ANYONE else who does this or has this, not people I know and meet in everyday life anyway. So who else out there is addicted to buying video games like myself? Any other proud Virtual Boy or Turbo Grafx 16 owners out there? Anyone else still own games they bought brand new 15+ years ago or still own the Final Fantasy VII Cloud Strife pre-order T-shirt or the Resident Evil 2 pre-order t-shirt?
I just want to see if there are any like-minded people out there with this game collecting interest because I love talking about my collection but it's hard when people don't understand it or care about it other than "wow you have a lot of games" yea, insightful and awesome conversation there. lol |

Hank vs. The Marketside Roast Beef & Cheddar sandwich from Walmart
By hankmecrankme 01-23-2012 08:15 PM

So I'm always looking for tasty food to eat, right? I spy this big ass bastard at Walmart the other day. Shit looked tempting, so I bought it, $5. It's a foot long. Subway's lawyers hung up on me when I informed them of this fact.
![]() Here's the bastard, still in its plastic wrapper. They do a good job of selling it. "MADE FRESH IN STORE!" "GENUINE PRIMA DELLA MEATS AND CHEESES." "Rustic French Loaf." And so on. When we remove the bastard from the wrapper, we are left with this. It's longer than my paper plate by a good amount. The bread feels pretty fresh, nice and thick and a bit crusty. Let's see what we've got going on under the hood. . . ... |

gaming in 2012 or better late than ever. [week three]
By jonathanp 01-23-2012 07:01 PM
|
|
Can't say I was in a mood to play much. but when I was I knew I wanted to do something that isn't Assassin's Creed. It was a slow week this week.
This week I want to set aside more time for gaming. I'm going to set the Xbox 360 back up and do some gaming on that. I also want to try and finish a few games on my backlog. I don't know how successful I will be, but I'm hopeful. I played a lot of this this past week. I'm pretty much through with the season mode, so all I'm doing is going back to finish off trophies. I'm having a lot of fun doing it though, as frustrating as it can be sometimes. Playing this makes me want to boot up Burnout: Paradise again. I recently bought the Big Surf Island DLC and never tried it out yet. |

Continuing the month of requests with the horror classic Re-Animator!
![]() Re-Animator Not for those with a weak stomach, Re-Animator set the bar for horror black comedies in the 80s. Easy to find on DVD but make sure you get the 2 disk edition from Anchor Bay. There are others that contain an edited version of the film. You can also rent the same edition from Netflix. |

Rocksmith: Day 2 |
![]() If you’re following my progress, be sure to check out “Day 1“. Hour 2 My index finger is still a bit sore. I wasn’t expecting this, it feels a bit weird. I only “played” for roughly an hour on day 1 and yet my finger feels like I had been playing for hours. That’s neither here nor there, all I know is I made it past day 1 and still want to play. I turn on Rocksmith and plug in my guitar. Another tuning session it appears. I’ve heard that your standard strings will require constant tuning so I was kind of expecting this. I start with another “technique”. I don’t recall the name but it had me sustaining notes. Simple enough at first but then they throw in transitioning from the highest string, down one string, and then back up at the highest. Since this is sustaining it didn’t me much time to make the transition. This isn’t going well tonight.... |

Does anyone else prefer gaming in the dark?
By The Mana Knight 01-22-2012 09:40 PM
|
|
After having an IM conversation with one of my online friends today about ways we hurt our eyesight, gaming in the dark came up. When giving the topic some thought, all I do is game in the dark. I do the same when using my laptop or watching TV.
When it comes to gaming, for some reason it just feels weird gaming in light. The light tends to bother me and I don't feel sucked into the game as much. Maybe that's why I tend to game later at night usually and not much earlier in the day. There has been multiple times I played PlayStation Move in the dark with my controller glowing (which I think is cool). I just seem to like seeing my LCD TV bright up nicely in the dark (picture seems more clear to me too). During the day time, picture just doesn't look as great. I know some prefer just playing survival horrors in the dark, but I prefer to do it with any genre. The only time I play in the light is when I want my picture to be taken in a game (like when I'm playing... |

Review of Unchartered 3
By adzy1981 01-22-2012 04:03 PM
|
|
rating 95/100 (in my humble opinion)
Fortune Favours the Bold' A sequel on and Naughty Dog seemingly has forgotten this. Uncharted 3 plays like Uncharted 2 and that much is evident in the opening moments but where ND delivers their coup de grace is a quarter of the way in as they take daring leaps not in anything conceptually original but in their technical expertise, this in turn redefines the gamers knowledge of what is possible in games. It's funny how innovation can come in many forms totally unrelated to originality and so whilst U3's opening creates a seemingly predictable experience you realise onwards, that innovation can also apply when a new upper echelon of refinement has transpired and this is what rescues Uncharted 3 from the fate of a tame-less and all so familiar sequel. Add a good story full of moments you expect and don't and hyperbole is hard to avoid but the package becomes something truly unchallenged. Uncharted 3 has faults namely the gameplay which takes some getting use to and the `all so ran' question of eligibility, surfacing as a consequence of the relentless pontification of violence that clearly contrasts with Drakes conveyed average man persona (a premise that has all but been shattered by now). But in the end a game is defined by the experience you have of it, nothing more and nothing less. Whether I've been able to articulate Uncharted 3's building blocks for greatness is neither here nor there because ultimately Uncharted 3 is a game of the soul and mind and that is only achieved when Story harmonises with gameplay and everyone knows that few developers have done it better than Naughty Dog and their Uncharted franchise. |
