Is the Operating System Becoming Irrelevant?
By el swordo 04-22-2011 10:40 AM

Most of what I do with my computer is done inside my browser. I have even moved over to google docs because of the convenience of sharing between computers, and not worrying about losing my flash drive (or if I put it in a mac will it work). So besides my browser the only real software I use is gimp and audacity. So does anyone see a point in the future where everyone uses linux because windows is expensive and doesn't do anything they can't do in browser?

I have a difficult time sitting still in my seat (anyone else the same way?)
By The Mana Knight 04-22-2011 10:06 AM

|
I've been blogging less due to working straight almost two weeks ago getting up at 4am each day. So I've been tired and had other things going on. Now that I'm finally off work, I thought about a topic I never really discussed with people which is true. All of my life I had a difficult time sitting still in my seat, especially for long periods of time.
Ever since I was a kid, my parents said they could rarely get me into pictures because it was difficult keeping me still and in my seat. I'd always be moving around doing something, whether it be good or getting myself into trouble. While in grade school, I'd be told to sit down, but would be right back up. One reason I enjoyed PE or Recess was because I got to get up off my seat. In high school and college, I normally felt the need to walk around the room/area whenever I got the chance (but thankfully classes were short). One reason I was so quick to leave class was because I finally got the chance to get up off... |

Spring Anime Season 2011 update and some Game of Thrones
By SleepDebt 04-22-2011 07:43 AM
|
|
So, I've been watching a few episodes so far and one that stands out to me is "Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai"
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...e.php?id=12368 The anime feels good. I don't know how else to describe it. It just gives you that warm feeling. It does remind me quite a lot like "To Aru Majutsu no Index" in terms of the main character interactions. I'll update some more after I finish watching "C" and "Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko" Anyone else see Game of Thrones last week? My friend just loaned me the first book after I watched the first episode. I have high hopes for it, and so does HBO since it already has a second season approved. |

Captain Joel and the Last Angel of Clarksvegas
By CaptainJoel 04-21-2011 11:02 PM

This is all part of a dream I had last night, I had to get it down on "paper". So here it goes!
---------------------------------- It’s Wednesday. I’m slow to wake, when the sense finally come to all I can smell is the burning. I stumble out of the living room and into the small kitchen in my cramped apartment. The macaroni and cheese? Oh yeah, I must’ve left the stove on last night before I passed out. I look into the pot and see the charred remains of what I had been going to eat the night prior. Sneering, I just through the pot away. Too much work to clean the damn thing out. I walk over to the window of my hovel and look out onto the city. It’s the afternoon here in Clarksvegas and I’m late. Late to start the day and late to work. I don my trench coat and hat and open the door, a kid’s standing in my doorway. ... |

3 Things from Taco Bell but only 2 things of Fire Sauce. What to do?
By whoknows 04-21-2011 10:22 PM
|
|
Ok, so quite the dilemma here.
I was feeling particularly hungry today so I made a stop at Taco Bell. I ended up getting a beefy crunch burrito, a bean burrito, and a free crunchy taco for donating $1 to Mark Wahlberg. So I get to the window and the dude was all "here, take all this food for free, I didn't swipe your card." and I was like "sweet! can I get some fire sauce though?" and he put some in the bag. Awesome. Or so I thought. I get home, open up the bag of deliciousness and look inside and I only have 2 things of fire sauce in it. I am pretty disappointed and shocked, to the point I may even go and ask for my money back. But it does leave me in quite the conundrum. What two things should I use the fire sauce on? I was thinking the beefy crunch burrito and the taco, but I'm not sure if I'm confident in thinking that. What do you all think I should do? I eagerly await your responses because I'm... |

Portal 2 - Single Player complete
By Retom7 04-21-2011 04:33 PM

I realize after reading through these boards and a few other places that there are plenty of people out there who hate Portal. It seems it's typically because they want to work against the stream and refuse to admit that the reviews and praise are worthy of the original, OR, they just don't like puzzle solving games. Either way, Portal was a huge hit to me and the main reason for purchasing Orange Box. No knocks on the other games with Orange Box, but Portal was a fresh approach to gaming and offered something exciting.
Basing my decision to purchase Portal 2 on my adoration of Portal, I am happy to say that I was in no way let down. I received this game on Tuesday after I got home from work and played the first two chapters. I had a hard time stopping because the puzzles are so much fun, the story telling is good, the humor is hilarious, and the progression is much like the first one, which makes it easy to get to the next step (either next puzzle OR next step within the... |

Mortal Kombat - Initial Impressions
By ObiBen 04-21-2011 11:10 AM
|
|
I told my wife that I was only going to play Mortal Kombat for an hour or so last night. That turned into three hours, and going to bed at midnight.
When I first heard that Mortal Kombat was coming back I was immediately excited. I remembered waiting in line at the arcade only to put in my quarters and get schooled by the better players, but I still kept playing. When I got my Super Nintendo I sunk hours into MK 1, 2, and 3. My time spent with MK was only in the story mode. I know that the story of fighting games is usually it's weakest point, but this was actually quite entertaining and really well done. It is basically a retelling of the first three MK games, but Raiden has some knowledge of the future and that things aren't going to end well for Earthrealm. The story is broken up into chapters that focus on a single character. What I found most impressive was that there were no loading screens at all. The cutscense and fights flowed together without a hitch.... |

Scary PC Games of the 90's
By droaks58 04-21-2011 12:19 AM
|
|
I was looking on the internet for a PC game I used to have that was really spooky, chilling, and scary. I don't remember the name of it. I may be the only one that ever had it it was a real obscure title. Something Like Heritage Hill or it might have been by Heritage software. But you the player lived in a town where the whole town was in a plot together against you and you had to walk around town and talk to people to try to get clues on what you had to do. The Police and the Firemen and even the mayor was in on it. The Next door neighbor had a really cute daughter but eventually you find out Her Dad is Keeping her against her will. so you gotta find a way to rescue her. You talk to the waitress at the coffee shop and she only gives you real subtle clues cause everyone is afraid to tell you anything. And you hardly ever see any one in town it like the streets are all dead. So you end up breaking into the city hall and the fire station and the school and try to find clues and things...

Gotian's Quest to beat all his games (Part 3) Pokemon Black
By Gotian 04-20-2011 11:31 PM
|
|
Okay so pokemon and I go waaaaaaaaay back. I remember when I first started playing pokemon in middle school, I think I was in 7th grade. It was the coolest thing out there. Red and blue, epic games and when I think about it they were actually pretty serious too. Back then team rocket were actually bad guys, I mean come on they actually killed a pokemon if you can think back that far to the Marowak they killed in the story. Well I've played every generation since then and by far second gen (gold and silver and I include the remakes) was the best as it was the longest game at least until I played Black.
Now to show you how into pokemon I am, if you havent already guess my age by now, I'm 25 and am also a gym leader in a league on the marriland forums and have been since generation IV before that I was an elite 4 leader on serebii forums league till I left and we shut down the league. Well when I picked up black I said I was going to speed play it so I could train the new pokemon... |

Day 186 of making a social network

SN2010: sn2010.x10.mx
April 20, 2011 Day 186|Month 7: Day 4 of making a social network: Today's update would have to be the "Donate" feature. Anyone who visits the site is able to now donate a small amount of cash for me to put towards the website, because websites aren't free, sadly. Well, they can be, but they aren't very good. Plus, http://sn2010.x10.mx/ doesn't look all that great. I'd rather have a normal domain name with a .com! Wouldn't http://www.sn2010.com look better? I'm going to be starting development on the community feature on the website, but I'm feeling quite lazy at the moment. I'll get to it, I have a little over 2 weeks to make it! Until next time, -Bretboy129 ~ Bret Hudson |

Motion Gaming still hasn’t advanced?
By kainzero 04-20-2011 02:09 PM
|
![]() 5 years later and this is still the pinnacle of motion gaming. And you know what? The best games on the Wii that incorporate motion gaming is still Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. Really? It’s been nearly 5 years since the Wii came out, and yet we’re still stuck with the same game being the best in its class. Nothing’s really pushed it, except maybe the new dancing games and Tiger Woods Golf. I purchased a Kinect for Dance Central and wondered what else was going to come out, so I looked at an upcoming games list. Aside from... |

Metro 2033: No thanks, I'll take the bus
By Tengaport 04-20-2011 01:21 PM
|
![]() Price Paid: $0.00 (got it from Goozex for 750 points) Recommended Buy Price: $5.00 - $10.00 Time Played: 8hrs (according to Raptr.com http://raptr.com/tengaport) Finished With: 13 of 43 achievements Difficulty: Easy Would I buy a sequel?: Probably not “Why am I still playing this?” That was the single thought that echoed through my head as I forced myself to trudge on in Metro2033. The game holds the dubious honor of being the first CAGCast recommendation to fall flat for me. Despite a journey across an impressive underground tunnel system in post-apocalyptic Moscow I failed to stumble upon a single ounce of enjoyment along the way. In fact, there was so little gameplay satisfaction found in Metro 2033, that the game struck me more of an interactive narrative than an action FPS. If you... |

If only I could stay up later or had someone to take care of all these household chores and other personal responsibilties there would be so much more time for gaming.
Henry Hatsworth - Got up to level 2-5. It took me an hour just to make it through two levels one night. The levels are very long. I've depleted my stock of lives too. Dragon Quest IX - There's an evil, impending threat to the world but it will just stay in it's own castle while I wander the world aimlessly doing treasure maps until I get up to around level 38 in order to take it on. I love the mechanics of the DQ series but it seems like the need to aquire stuff is more compelling than the need to save the world. Little Big Planet - <Or as my 3 yeard old calls the game, "Put-a costume on, dress up."> Had someone help me get past the Samurai's castle level (damn spinning wheels). cleared through the next 4 levels... |

Me and my friend messing around playing some 1 on 1. You can tell it wasn`t too serious by the lack of D. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZd3kAca7I8
I had some nice shots, but I`m a lot better than what I showed. Maybe I`ll record a good game. Competition is hard to come by though. You can find the whole game, in 2 parts on that same channel. |

Kinect |
|
So I found a pretty solid deal on Kinect last weekend and decided to bite. Went to TRU and took advantage of the B1G1 for 40 percent off to pick up Kinect Sports and Ea Sports Active 2. After owning Kinect for 5 days I am pleased with the purchase.
In my quest to get back in to shape I chose Ea Sports Active 2 so far the game does a pretty good job of getting me to sweat my ass off, started the 9 week work out program and hopefully I can keep with it. Kinect Adventures is a fun little tech demo that the wife and I enjoy but the true gem for us is Kinect Sports. I love the bowling on Kinect Sports she loves the volley ball and thats where we land. I have more than enough room for 2 people to play at a time so space isn't an issue here but if you don't have a large area i could see Kinect being a huge issue. If you were looking for a way to get your girl into gaming Kinect may be it. She has zero interest in games but can't quit playing the Kinect. Hopefully... |

Troll'n a Troll or WINNING

Yesterday had to be the most fun I've had on this site to date. As I wrote my first blog ever I couldn't imagine the fun it would bring.
![]() ![]() To catch people up, Chacrana dropped a troll blog on CAG stating he intentionally ran over a dog. I have to admit at first I fell for his trap and must give props where they are due even if it's a distasteful one. With my first comment left he quickly PM's me saying how his blog is just a troll and that he'd never do anything like that. Case may be but still the taste was sour in my mouth so felt the need to share it with eveyone. This he didn't approve of as he deleted my comment and blocked me from his blogs as well as non CAG user (scared of 4chan?????). I created my first blog to "let" people know his trolling ways. To my suprise Chacrana was the frist to reply and starts his defence and would continue to do so as others would comment. Never did I know that a simple troll on a troll would work... |
