Wow, i spend more on DLC then i do on retail disc games...

By the_grimace 11-27-2009 06:24 PM
This is more-so prevalent on my PS3 then my xbox 360, as I always buy points extremely cheap for the 360, but after looking at what i had on my ps3 the other day, i was shocked to see how much i actually spent on there. I find it odd i wont buy most retail disc based games for like $10, but yet i dish $10 out for lots of little games and add-on content.... As of now, i have 24 DL games on my ps3, 6 PS1 classics, and literally TONS of DLC. This is like 100 songs from rock band, map packs, add-ons, etc etc. Almost every game I own i own the substantial DLC for, save a few.

Keep in mind I'm not even doing game sharing or anything... this is just me solely buying all this... Strangely enough, i find that a lot more people then just me will spend a lot of money on DLC. Its a bit shocking really. i find it hard to believe we are so easily roped in to buying flash game quality items for $5 to $20.

Alas, this was pretty much just a random blurb from my mind,...

Moving Update 4 - Should I go back home for Christmas?? INPUT NEEDED PLEASE!

By the_grimace 11-27-2009 06:18 PM
Updated by the_grimace 11-28-2009 01:15 PM
Will be moving now in approximately 2 weeks. Pretty much everything is taken care of, and I'm ready to go. Yet as always, a new problem arises. This time its whether or not to come home for christmas.

As you may know, originally the plan was to go afte christmas, but after further review, the 7 or 8 days i would before my schooling started were too few to get situated in the new area, and I felt everything was going to be too much of a rush. Therefore, i decided to go up a few weeks earlier, to not only get adjusted to the new area, but since my school schedule will be rigorous, actually have some time to explore the area and enjoy myself.

Considering i was definately going up before christmas now, i wanted to just stay there for the holidays. It didnt make sense to only be out there for 10 days or so, fly back for a couple days, then fly back again. Foremost, I didn't feel safe about leaving my stuff and my car there for even those few days, especially...

Good Black Friday & Christmas Shopping

By The Mana Knight 11-27-2009 05:50 PM
The reason for my current blog title is because I'm trying to make it like my last years Black Friday blog entry. Last year it was terrible because stores ran out of what I wanted and just my whole day was bad. This year, my Black Friday was mostly good. Compared to last year, I'm living in a new area, going to different locations of stores, ordering online more so than B&M, and I'm shopping alone on Black Friday (unlike previous years where I had a family member with me).

I did order a few things online yesterday. I ended up ordering Ghostbusters and The Matrix on Blu-ray yesterday along with a Dual Shock 3 controller in red. All came from Amazon. I considered buying other games online such as Pure, but I really don't need the game. I ended up getting The Matrix since friends of mine were convincing me on AIM to buy it for $12.99. I've never seen The Matrix before, but I see it appealing to me. One friend tried to get me to order a bunch of other movies, but...

I didn't really plan on going out today but decided to go out with my grandpa around 11 o clock. I went more to get some gifts picked out and wanted to get Assassins Creed 2. I figured I would not find the limited edition as it sold out pretty quickly but to my surprise when I rolled around into gamestop there was one left sitting graciously on the shelve. So I quickly snatched it up and I get it for christmas. I also got 3 games buy 2 get 1 free.

Black Friday 2009

By eliter1 11-27-2009 12:16 PM
This was my first BF since 2005, i think, and it was a pretty decent. I got to my local mall at about 1:00 am. I drove by Walmart but didn't think it was my best option. I went by BestBuy and there was a line about 500+ people long, I was told some of those people had been in line since Thursday morning (There was nothing on sale worth that much wait). I decided to take a look at Target and there was only about 15-20 people in line so my two cousins and I decided that was our best bet. At 5:00 am the doors opened and I got a 32 inch TV for $250, a digital picture frame $30 and season 1 of Dexter, I ran out of there as soon as I could which was about 30 minutes. Next stop BestBuy. I got a Mario DSi two cellphone and FIFA 10 but I had to wait about 1.5 hrs in line, outrageous. Next I went to Walmart and got Rockband for $50. I think I did pretty good, I liked being outside of the store just hanging out talking to people. Now I am gonna hit Amazon.com and finish my Xmas shopping...

thanksgiving!! This year I am thankful for PANTIES!! becoz imo everybody should have a drawer full of Hanky Panky & Cosabella, with a few extras here and there for variety and special occasion. It's both practical AND sexy. Smexy, I dare say so myself.

so Victoria's Secret, the mainstream lingerie shop whose clientèle includes unattractive, overweight, and underage girls, is on a mission to find the newest runway angel!! The search was far and wide, then there were ten! From ten the ranks were reduced to five, getting rid of the black chicks and the asian. Now they're down to the final two. Surprise surprise, it's two blonde chicks!!

yo blonde chicks, Im really happy for you and Ima let you finish, but I jus wanna say that Catharina Lee was the hottest prospective VS Angel of all time!!

The Start of Something New (and Used): PS3 Collect(ion/ing)

By RedGamer 11-26-2009 10:31 PM
I've been around CAG for a bit over a year now, but I didn't really become active until around June of this year.

Since then, I've re-hauled how I purchase, trade and play games. I've been buying games more and more, and playing them less and less. I don't see a correlation between them though, it's more-so due to school taking up quite a bit of time, along with others in my house hogging the 360.

This leads me into now:

I've been saving up for a PS3 and an HDTV to call my own. So I can play whenever I want, without having to care about others in my house. So, I've slowly sold off the ten or so 360 games I had over the last half-a-year or so. I'm left with Shadowrun (360).. and I think that is it.

And now, as the prospect of buying a PS3 comes closer, I've started buying some PS3 games to start my PS3 collection. Honestly, I forgot how nice it was to have a collection of games. I had become.. a bit obsessed with counting my cash/credit...

I'd like to thank VALVe for making Half-Life among other awesome games, Microsoft for making crappy hardware and easy off shells, whoever made the spray paint and paper.

Now I just need a working console to put in there!

UPDATE: If I get a used 360 to put in this one I'm going to make a Borderlands shell (Hopefully with less mistakes!)

Mini-Games: A Little Bit of Awesome

By SuperPhillip 11-26-2009 05:13 PM
Vote in my November poll!

Happy Thanksgiving to those folks who are celebrating it. We've had two reviews in a row these past two days, so let's try something different and special for today. Mini-games have drawn a lot of fire this current generation. Most likely as more and more games are solely comprised of entirely them and nothing else. Regardless, there have been plenty of fun mini-games that have come out in recent years and even further back than that. The following list showcases some of my favorites from generations past and present.

Blitzball (Final Fantasy X - PS2)

Are you ready for some blitzball? Once you've been given the go ahead, you can play a round or two or three or one-hundred of blitzball from any save point in the game. The rules of blitzball are just like soccer except you use your hands and the entire game is played in an underwater sphere. Not too different, yes? Certainly Beckham could adapt. If Beckham was too chicken to play, you could assign new members to your team in hopes of dominating the rest of the field. Not only was blitzball a way to pass the time, but it was also the only way to get various rare items including one of the character's ultimate weapons. For a wet and wild mini-game, blitzball may be just for you.

Triple Triad (Final Fantasy VIII - PS1)

We go from one Final Fantasy to another with one of my favorite mini-games period. It's triple triad. What's triple triad, you ask? It's a card game played on a 3x3 board. Each player gets five cards, either randomly assigned or hand-selected by the player. Each card has four numbers or letters. 1 is the weakest, S is the strongest. Cards are then placed on the board. If two or more cards are placed next to one another, a battle happens. The card with the highest amount wins, taking over that player's card as its own. The game goes on until all nine spaces are filled. There's additional rules such as elements and things like that, but these are the bare bones basics. The game is so popular that there are internet forums dedicated to playing the game electronically.

The Adventures of Captain Qwark (Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal - PS2)

By far the coolest mini-game in Ratchet series history is this side-scrolling platformer/shooter. There are eventually five levels available for play. You control Captain Qwark as he runs, jump, shoots, and dodges in the game. Each chapter tells the story of Qwark's mission to stop the evil Dr. Nefarious. Not only can you normally play through the levels, but speed runs and collecting 100 Qwark tokens in a given level awards you with titanium bolts, the rarest of all rare collectibles in the Ratchet and Clank series. This game is so good that I would purchase a longer version on PSN. It's that good.

Bumper Balls (Mario Party, Mario Party 2 - N64)

Imagine if you will, an island with deep blue water surrounding it. Now imagine four multi-colored balls about the size of a person resting serenely atop the island. Sounds pleasant if not odd, no? Now imagine one person riding each ball in attempt to knock the other three off the island into shark-infested water which will rip their intestines and hearts out, organ by organ. Yes, it's Bumper Balls from the Mario Party franchise. The second installment of the mini-game brought with it different themed islands such as slippery ice and hot fire! While not as violent as I made it out to be, Bumper Balls to this day is one of my favorite Mario Party mini-games.

Ball Rolling (Super Mario Galaxy - Wii)

Let's continue with this ball theme, shall we? Two of the 120 stars in Super Mario Galaxy required you to control Mario atop a ball by tilting the Wii remote like a joystick ever so gracefully. This is all the while as he leaps over chasms, dodges obstacles such as goombas, and inches closer and closer to his coveted power star. The controls were great, and tilting the Wii remote to move the ball was a fun, fantastic, and fascinating experience.

Dream Ski Jump (Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games - Wii)

There's plenty of great games in Mario and Sonic's latest Olympic offering. The Dream events are by far my favorites. These are events that take realistic sports and term them into fantasies set in Mario's and Sonic's worlds. Dream Ski Jump propels you off a ramp with the idea of collecting as many point balloons as possible as you fly through the orbit of the Good Egg Galaxy with memorable music in tow. By the end of the event, you fall towards a star-shaped platform each with different point values attached to it. As you land, your points are tallied up and the player or team with the most points wins the medal.

Monkey Target (Super Monkey Ball franchise - Various)

Hang-gliding all to itself is a wonderful experience I'm told. The freedom of soaring in the air, the wind wafting against your face, and the thrill of being high in the sky. How can this experience be more fun? Well, why don't you add a whole slew of monkeys and a target in the middle of the ocean? What you get is Monkey Target. The goal of Monkey Target is to glide down to a target with different point values on it, and land and stay on one of the point values. Otherwise you'll be faced with the dank, dark depths of ocean below! Later installments brought Team Monkey Target where four monkeys flew together to hopefully land and score as many points as possible.

Happy Thanksgiving!

By Lost_In_Shadows 11-26-2009 02:34 PM
I hope this year is better than last year. My grandma died last year on Thanksgiving day. I'm kind of uptight/sick today. So maybe its just because of that. Although I plan on having a big meal, and spend some time with my family. I hope other people have better plans than I do. I remember last year I was listening to the radio, and this guy said what he was thankful for. He said he was glad he was above the ground instead of dead in the ground. I think that's something to be thankful for. Yes this blog was rather random, and pointless. Just wanted to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving.

My Dad thought it was a brilliant idea to send me to school, with Swine Flu.

By PhaperPlane 11-26-2009 12:42 PM
Okay CAG, in my last blog yesterday, I told you that I thought I might have Swine Flu. Well, today I looked up the full list symptoms and my thoughts were correct, myself and my Mum do indeed have Swine Flu I got 6/8 and my Mum got 7/8. (Oh, a small update. My Mum is recovering well, she has stopped throwing up and is now up and about. )

Yesterday evening, my Dad tells me that I am going to school tomorrow because I am turning like my brother, using my "illness" as an excuse to catch up on work. Allow me to explain this, every few weeks my brother would suddenly fall "ill" and every time this happened, it was because of an essay or a project he forgot to do. And the days he spent off school was doing the work. He is quite a good actor, but it affected his attendance. He fell "ill" every 3 weeks or so and be off for a day or 2. Quite sad really.

So anyway, I have been awake since 3AM, coughing and sneezing as well as having...

Criminal Minds - Episode "100" ....Whoa

By Inf^Shini 11-26-2009 11:04 AM
I didn't get to watch the episode from the beginning, catching it at the 30 minute mark, but damn, that was one hell of an episode last night.

The brutality, grit, and emotion building to the irrevocable culmination of events was unforgettable.

I would love to expound on the plot, but I wouldn't dare ruin it for anyone who has not watched it yet.
