My trophy progress for Jan/Feb |
|
Since I got a late start in Jan and only a couple plats at the end of the month, I decided to just wait and post everything now, at the end of Feb. I probably would have had a few more games completed, but I was so excited for Musou Orochi 2 that I stopped playing everything while I waited for it because I didn't want to quit in the middle of something else. And then it took longer than I expected to arrive. Sigh... Oh well.
I think I had a pretty good run this last couple of months, and my backlog magically jumped up a few games (it's at something like 8 or so right now). Hard to fight good deals, honestly. So, on to the list, now with tiles! Musou Orochi 2 (JP Import) An easy trophy set as usual, and less grindy than Musou Orochi Z was. This is a great game, and it's already announced for a Western release next month as Warriors Orochi 3.... |

What are your thoughts on sexism in the video game community?
By adawg555 02-29-2012 02:50 AM
|
|
For our VG Confidential Podcast, we are going to be discussing the recent debate over sexism and even sexual harrassment in video games, which was sparked by the comments of a Capcom Reality Show contestant. You can read the full article from Penny Arcade about it here: http://penny-arcade.com/report/edito...fighting-games.
Many gamers are mean to each other in general, and say things that can be very hurtful over the anonymous microphone. It seems this can be amplified to new levels when a known female is present in a lobby. Are offensive comments like this just par for the online gaming course? Or are they taking things too far, especially when a woman is present? As many of us frequently game online and have no doubt heard similar comments said, whether there was a woman present in the conversation or not, I am sure there are many opinions on the matter. If you have a stance... |

Switching to a new internet service
By Lost_In_Shadows 02-28-2012 06:25 PM

|
So I'm switching to a different internet service since my cable likes to get completely unstable at random times. Its a small cable company and they don't see to know what there doing plus a lot of people is on it in my area.
I'm switching to a dsl company and I've never had dsl before. I get the feeling I won't be any better off and it will be the same old issues again. It seems to vary based on the reviews but it does with everything. Certain things are just better in certain areas depending how many people are on it. This was a local cable company and what I'm switching to is Frontier DSL. I've heard bad things about it but the only other option was AT&T or keep the cable I have now. None of them seem to be all great but the way I see it surely it couldn't be no worse than the cable when the cable completely tanks. |

Review: No More Heroes for Wii |
|
I'm basically going to use this as a repository for my reviews. If you all enjoy my reviews, please say so.
Travis Touchdown is an otaku who resides in a hotel room in the city of Santa Destroy. After winning an internet auction for a beam katana, he's out of money. That's when a mysterious blonde woman with a French accent by the name of Sylvia Christel. She offers him a job to kill an assassin by the name of Helter Skelter. After doing the deed, Sylvia announces that by killing him, he is now ranked #11 by the United Assassins Association. With that, Travis starts his quest for the top ranking in the UAA. "No More Heroes" stands out on the Wii, being one of the few M rated games on the console, and it mostly earns it, with strong language, very bloody violence, and lots of sexual innuendo. Travis is a dork and seems to be a stand-in for a driven gamer. Given the ridiculusness of a lot of the opponents you meet, it is hard to take it seriously. It... |

Binary Piecast: Episode 1 - Bacon Pie |
|
Hello all! Just wanted to stop by and introduce to a new podcast project i'm working on called the Binary Piecast. It's a strictly PC gaming podcast. It's ran by myself (DonDonRaiden of the Average Gamer Show) and Ap3xdotexe from YouTube.
If anyone would like to give it a listen, we'd sure appreciate any feedback you could give us for future episodes. It'll be up on iTunes in the next couple days, but you can currently find episode one at the following places: Webpage Stream RSS Thanks for dropping by! Oh, and we really like pie... Welcome to the Binary Piecast! This is the beta episode of the podcast and our first go at it. We are both PC gamers who wanted to discuss our passion for PC gaming and what we love about it. Sadly, there aren't too many strictly PC gaming podcasts out there, so hopefully this will be episode one of many. Youtube links: Orrin @ http://youtube.com/ap3xdotexe... |

Do They Even Want Money?
By Icehearted 02-27-2012 03:32 AM

I've been watching how HD remakes have been popping up, and some are actually pretty darned good deals, while others are shameful cash-grabs. A great example of the latter would be the Silent Hill HD Collection and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. Some really great opportunities missed with what come off as more or less lazy ports than full fledged high definition updates. In fact if some reviews are to be believed these updates are actually somewhat inferior in some cases, having made some questionable choices regarding their voice talent and visual updates.
More bothersome to me, however, are the missing pieces to these collections. Again, I'll use my previous examples here. With a Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, one would assume including the game that started it all (the Solid... um, saga?) would be a no-brainer, but instead we get a PSP game port. We've already seen what an updated Metal Gear Solid would look like, so moving it to HD would have made this one of the... |

Pick Up: Final Fantasy XIII-2 Collector's Edition
By MiNuN 02-27-2012 12:00 AM
|
![]() I just want to make it clear that I have never bought or even played Final Fantasy 13, I only bought Final Fantasy 13-2 because it was a Collector's Edition and I am a big Final Fantasy fan (can't afford to miss a Collector's!) Final Fantasy XIV & my guild basically takes up all my time, leaving no time for other video games .Anyhow, I still opened up the Collector's and wanted to share it with you all, even though I know nothing about it lol, I also did not pre-order it so I did not get any pre-order goodie (would of liked the art-book from best buy). I heard that FF13-2 is a huge step-up from 13 with its improvement, I hope everybody is enjoying the game Front of the outer box and game case ![]() Side view ... |

Asura's Wrath review by Snake |
|
What do you get when you combine tons of quick-time events, on rail shooter segments and huge killer turtles? You get Asura's Wrath, the latest game from CyberConnect2 and Capcom. To call this game over the top and strange is an understatement. Asura's Wrath is certainly strange and something different. The story follows General Asura who is one of the eight gods who protect the earth from the bad guys. But things change rather quickly for Asura and soon you will begin to unleash his wrath. Asura's Wrath's story is told in a episodic format similar to a tv show and its kinda cool. There are also interludes between episodes in which you can read some dialogue that is accompanied by some great artwork. These interludes help you understand the story more and whats going on with the other characters as well. Now when I saw this game, I was expecting a game similar to God of War or Devil May Cry but its none of those.
Asura's Wrath gameplay is largely focused on quick-time events during rather long cutscenes which you can easily miss some of them if you don't pay attention closely. There are also on rails shooting segments similar to Panzer Dragoon Orta and are rather short and easy. Then there is the hand to hand combat in which you will be mashing the hell out of the circle or b button because that is the button in which you do combos. The combat system is very simple and gets quite repetitive. You basically do some combos and then unleash a "burst" and then do some quick-time events and then watch a cutscene and then its on to the next episode. I would have liked to see more variations other than a dumbed down combat system and an unsatisfying on rails shooter system. The enemies you fight range from elephants to turtles to monkeys. Yes you heard right, your gonna be killing so many animals that PETA is gonna want to ban this game.
The graphics in Asura's Wrath is very good and is inspired by anime such as Dragonball Z. If you love anime/manga style, then you will love the graphics in Asura's Wrath. It combines fantasy with sci-fi(ala Final Fantasy) in that Japanese flavor that you know and love. Asura's Wrath loves being a game of epic proportions from the many larger than life bosses you'll encounter to the moments you'll be saying wtf? During the cutscenes you can control the camera by moving the right thumbstick, its kinda cool but when you do it there is so much screen tearing that you'll just leave it alone. The characters in Asura's Wrath are different and unique and they look nice although some of them look a bit similar to ones from the Final Fantasy franchise. The illustrations that you see in the interludes look great and are very stylish. The voice acting in Asura's Wrath is also very solid. The controls are good but Asura's Wrath could have been more gameplay oriented rather than just telling you a story many cutscenes which are sometimes a bit boring. CyberConnect2 focuses too heavily on the QTEs and the graphic style than they do on the gameplay. Asura's Wrath can be completed within 4-6 hrs and its a good rental but not worthy of a $60 purchase. Yes, this is a level from Asura's Wrath At the end of the day, Asura's Wrath looks cool on the surface but is very shallow in its story and gameplay. Its a simple story of revenge and its cool for the first 15-20 mins but as you play more and more its just not that interesting and gets very repetitive quickly. Final Score- 7.3/10

|

Just click the links below the comic and to the left of the blog. The Strip: Well back to the Two Plagues arch. Hope you guys don't mind forged comedy for a little more serious side. Just need to exercise these demons. Gaming: Got the XBLA game Warp. An interesting top down puzzler. With a gruesome side. I tried All zombies must die (not into it). Also if the stars align, I will be playing some Skyrim this fine eve. TV/Movies: Oh yeah, I got the family to watch The Monster Squad. It held up. I still enjoyed it. Though I did forget how vulgar and violent it was. In my head it was a "G" film. Had to make the kids cover their eyes a WHOLE lot. And of course I will be watching The Walking Dead tonight…not The Oscars. ... |

Trek up the Tower
By jmbreci 02-25-2012 06:15 PM

I survived despite the fact that my head felt like it wanted to implode and my lungs were wanting to be expelled from my body on about floor 37. So, 40 floors in 10:24 and my goal was 10:00. I will take that considering I had to stop twice for water and those two set me back at least 30 seconds. My legs are only slightly sore after several hours, which is a good sign.
Think I will be back next year and now I have a better idea on what I need to train on. VO2 max. |

Eventually I picked everything up when I had time (while not working and cleaning out my last apartment). This is how it looks:

[100%] PVC Racing Rig for Gran Turismo 5! (Pictures Inside!)

The Goal:
![]() With the tax season in full swing, I decided to finally bite the bullet and invest in a racing wheel. But I didn’t stop there. Along with the wheel, I’m also constructing a racing rig, complete with a (hopefully) functioning seat. I have been inspired by SlowEddy from the GTPlanet forums. He himself was inspired by someone else, but I decided to go with Eddy’s due to the included diagrams and instructions. Considering I’m not very “handy” when it comes to tools, I’m keeping my fingers crossed this turns out well! So with that in mind, I’ll be documenting my progress, complete with pictures. I’ll keep it to this one post in hopes that people will see this and be inspired. In the end my project may not look at “cool” as Eddy’s, but I’m sure the experience will be worth the while. Now then, here’s what we’ll need: ... |
