CAG Poker Night In Clubhouse Games, Do You Want It?

By BlueSwim 08-11-2008 05:19 PM
Updated by BlueSwim 08-12-2008 03:30 PM

As some of you may know, Clubhouse Games(along with Hotel Dusk) is getting a reprinting set to release in a few weeks. Clubhouse Games features Nintendo WiFi, a.k.a. online multi-player. I believe almost, if not all non-single player only games in CHG can be played online. CHG has everything from Chess to Blackjack, all online. So with many people looking to pick up CHG when the reprints ships, it begs the question...

CAG Poker Night, do you want it?

A night reserved just for Clubhouse Games based Poker, or another game of choice if prefer. Are there enough people interested to try something like this?

UPDATE: Were starting to iron out the details in another post. Here is the link.

What Chac Is Buying - Vol. 3

Un Genesis de Sega. I never had one, so I'm making up for that now, I guess. Surprisingly, this only cost me $30, even though it was new.

Hey, you wannabe Jap, what games you get for it?

Well, the only game I've gotten so far is Lightening Force, which is the misspelled US title for Thunder Force IV. Why they couldn't spell "lightning", I will never know. The box it came in smelled smokey (I hate smokers), but the game's case seems fine, so we'll see... but you can just dip shit in coffee beans to make it smell normal again, can't you? At least, that's what I've heard.

You ing moron. I bet you voted for Bush.

I also have Castlevania: Bloodlines and Revenge of Shinobi on the way.

?What that's it? You suck! What about [insert game that I think is cool here]?

Yeah, the only games I wanna get...

Girlfriend or Friends….Which is More Important?

By The Mana Knight 08-11-2008 03:22 PM

Due to being quite busy, I really don’t have time to put together a lengthy blog entry today, so this will mostly be a question. There’s no denying one of my biggest problems in life is a lack of socialization. I really only have one good friend in real life right now who is never around (he has a girlfriend and family to take care of), and I never had a girlfriend before. I’m constantly lonely in the real world due to really no one around me (except my parents, who usually anger me). I want to do whichever has the better chance of improving me socially.

The reason having better friends would be important is because they could keep me occupied. They may see movies with me, play video games with me, go out to various places with me, and probably stay loyal for a long time. If we get into an argument, we are more likely to make up. Having friends would be great because there are many activities I’d like to do, but I’m always alone for everything. Having a good friend...

Anybody else watch Wipeout?

This show kicks ass. I've liked John Henson's snarky humor since his Talk Soup days so it's good to see him again.

I even enjoyed the hell out of the recent "best of" clips episode they built around a fake awards show "The Wipies"

Want to do this?

Researchers at UC Berkeley say they may soon be able to develop materials which could "cloak" actual people and objects, making them nearly invisible to the naked eye. The technique centers around redirecting light around the cloaked object, in order to create the illusion of light going through said object, hence, making the object invisible. The research team has already had marked success with the "cloak" on 2-d objects.

Vote CheapyD for C-List Internet Celebrity Spore Creature Creator

By CheapyD 08-11-2008 10:31 AM

There is some Spore marketing thing where they ask Internet celebrities to make their own Spore creature and then have people vote for their favorites. In true CheapyD style, I was placed on their C-list. Here is how to find (and vote) for me:

Go to www.sporevote.com

Click on "More Spore" and "Highest Ranked". I'm the bald whitey in the top row.

Click on on my head and after you get to my profile page, click "I Like it". Of course, if you don't like it, you don't have to vote.

My creature's name is Takogani, which means octopus crab in Japanese. Here is the little creature blurb I wrote:

The Takogani project is headed by Japan's top genetic scientists and sushi chiefs with the goal of delivering maximum crab and octopus meat style at a low price. Please enjoy the delicious flavor and superior happy relax time.

Nintendo to Miyamoto: Dude, Shut up.

By Sentience 08-11-2008 10:00 AM

Nintendo has asked Shigeru Miyamoto to stop speaking publicly about his hobbies, for fear of giving the competition hints of its next big thing.

This is all according to an article in today's The Times, which quotes from "sources" within the company to connect Miyamoto's hobbies in the past (puzzles, exercise, music lessons) with recent successes for Nintendo.

"In short, the gaming and investment communities are wondering which of his current pastimes will be translated into a virtual rendition that will attract millions of sales five years from now.

Comics That Need To Be Games Part 2

By mike murphy 08-11-2008 08:35 AM
Fray, the slayer (Buffy universe) of the future tale by Whedon and Moline, published by Dark Horse.

Developed by the Assassin's Creed team.

The same free-running jumping and leaping action and movement, the same fighting mechanics, but stuck into the flying-car, grim and gritty future setting.

That'd be great fun.

The next coming months

By uberpwner93 08-11-2008 07:17 AM
Within the next coming month many games are scheduled to be released. Gears 2, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Rock Band 2, probably another card battle game or something but none the less, a lot of great games happen to come out in the next coming months. Even though Gears will be a big release it's not the game I'm looking most forward to, actually I am looking forward at 2 games. Fallout 3 and Fable 2.

Fallout 3 is of course being developed by Bethesda Games. The studio that made games such as The Elder Scrolls series and the previous Fallout games. The first 2 Fallout games didn't really catch my attention, so that's why I didn't play them. But this is game looks kinda like a rebirth of the series because of the first and third person camera view, I guess that's why I'm really looking forward to it. The reason I didn't play the other ones was because of the camera view. I know that is kind of a critical statement, but who cares. The blood, the gore, the action, and the adventure

Should I buy a PSP?

By VirgiltheChicken 08-11-2008 04:06 AM
Fellow CAGs, hear my call for advice. Is the PSP worth buying? Are there enough good games to waste $179-$199 on the purchase? I already have a DS and a Zune, so please keep your reasoning focused on exclusive games and not media capabilities. I would also be interested in the price of games and the frequency of drops/sales... the general cheapness of the system.

Hideo Kojima & Yoji Shinkawa Signing My PS3 @ SDCC 2008... + Bonus

On Thursday night of Comic-Con I found out that Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa would be doing a Friday morning autograph session for Comic-Con attendees. I was a bit sad as I had work Friday morning, so I sent my brother in my place instead.

The night before I got to meet Kojima and chat with him a bit as the Konami room was right next door to the SD TEKKEN gaming room. So when I found out he was doing a signing session. I had to make plans. Since our gaming room was right next to where the autograph event took place, we took advantage of our early access and our crew just started the line before everyone else got there lol.

Bonus, Leah Dizon's new music video...

Madden 09

By fuss 08-11-2008 12:32 AM
I like Madden, but I have never got it as soon as it has come out. I am and have always been one of those "I know it will come down in price soon" type of people. Plus I only buy madden every few years. But the problem is when I go to buy Madden once it goes down in price I always find myself holding off and telling myself "oh the new one is about to come out, so I will wait for that one". The last Madden I got was 07 and I got that this past Day after Thanksgiving for $10 at Best Buy. The Madden I had before that was 04 and before tht was in the late 90's (98 I think).

But this year is different. I am getting madden 09 the day it comes out, even did the pre-order for it. And the kicker - I got the special edition. This marks a few firsts for me:

- First time getting madden at full price
- First time getting a special edition of a game.
- First time doing a pre-order
- The most I spent on one game.

Backwards Compatibility - Does It Really Matter?

By bsesb2003 08-10-2008 11:55 PM
Updated by bsesb2003 08-11-2008 12:02 AM
Thinking about the PS2 vs. the Dreamcast, and why the Dreamcast had an early death, and whether its lack of backwards compatibility added to its demise....does backwards compatibility really matter? Is it important in the decision to move up to the next generation or is it merely something that kids can point to when asking their parents to cough up the dough? "But, mom, it will play all the old games too!" I can say that outside of the DS, I rarely ever play the prior generations games on the new consoles. I'm not saying it never happens, but it's very rare.

Your thoughts -- is backwards compatibility important or just a launch ploy?

What Killed the Dreamcast?

By bsesb2003 08-10-2008 10:50 PM
Everybody has a theory...GD disks issues, couldn't overcome the 32x and Saturn hurdle.

It launched with Soul Calibur, and its still great even today. But why did it go so soon?

I think a real big one was the lack of EA's support for the console. In particular, no Madden -- games sell consoles. If you could only play Madden on the PS2, then why buy the Dreamcast? The 2k games were very good, but people want their EA sports games, and there was none on poor Dreamcast.

Thoughts?

Old Games You Used To Play

Hey fellow CAGs. There was a game that I used to play when I was really young called Freddi Fish on the PC, don't know if you've heard of it because I think it's kind of rare now. It's for ages 3-8 (granted I'm still only 15 but still a bit old for it lol) and it's about a big yellow fish called Freddi and her small green companion Luther who solve crimes etc. under the sea (yeah weird but fun if you're a small kid or a big kid like me ). Anyway so I recently had a massive urge to play them again so I downloaded all of them, there are 7 in total on the PC. Has anybody else had a really weird urge recently to play a game that they you used to play years ago, maybe for nostalgia reasons?

The weirdest mix of old and new ever.

By SavePointSean 08-10-2008 08:57 PM
I was just perusing on Evertek and I stumbled on this in the clearance section.

Is that not the weirdest thing ever? My thing is, I grew up playing chess on a board and pieces that were hand made for my dad. A setup we still use from time to time. Now I will play that Chess Titans game that came with my laptop from time to time, but chess is just too pure a game to be treated like this. It looks like a flimsy piece of crap certainly not worth the 17 bucks they're asking for it. On clearance no less! You couldn't use it while traveling. You'd have to find at least one other guy on the planet with one of these, it looks like.

Now, if they could do this with a normal chess set, or even move the pieces for you, that would be pretty slick.
