Skylanders Concerns |
|
For some reason I'm not 100% sure of, I want to buy the Skylanders Starter Pack for either PS3 or 360. Toys R Us supposedly has it on sale for $40 starting on Sunday, so it's starting to get more affordable.
My main concern is that I won't like the game because it will be to simple and easy. To be clear, this game is for me (26 years old) and I won't be playing it with any young kids or anything. My brother might join in for some co-op, but he's in his early 20s. Reviews seems to be very mixed in this area. Some of compared the gameplay to the Lego games, which is just too simple for me to justify spending $40 on. But other reviews have stated it has good battle and combat systems and a decent leveling up system, which is something I could go for. So I'm really on the fence on this one. Please feel free to leave any insights you have on this game in the comments. |

I hate that damn Blue Shell. Ill be playing Battlefield 3 this weekend, the group I play with is all back in and on the quest to 45. (43 right now). When I'm not playing Battlefield Ill be playing the new addiction: Kingdoms of Amalur. That game is awesome. If you like console rpgs please buy this game. It is amazing. How far would you travel for a job?
By el swordo 02-09-2012 04:09 PM
|
|
I have a job interview 55 miles from home tommorow. I am a recent college graduate living with my parents working a part time job. Since they are giving me 24 hours notice and called me within 24 hours of posting my resume I'm assuming they are in a hurry. My parents are thinking of retiring somewhere warm ,but don't want to sell the house in the current housing market. I might be able to get a good deal renting it from them. What do you think is that too far of a commute? Or if I'm offered the job would i be better off moving? All this hypothetical of course. Btw I live in northwest indiana near chicago. the job market isn't that great around here and I would probably have to commute downtown anyway. But, I would only have to drive 20 minutes to the train station and would be able to enjoy the train ride the rest of way. For this I would have to drive entire way

Shank 2 Review |
|
SHANK 2 :twoguns:
Shank is back and hes mad! After having getting his revenge last time hes back killling bad guys again. There are 8 different levels and you can beat this game in less than 1 day. Shank plays the same as last game but theres some new weapons and and a countering system ala Arkham City. Shank 2 is a pretty challenging game but fun and lots of crazy action. The art style is great and the blood looks great and theres lots of ways to decapitate and kill your foes. There are also environmental kills that are really cool too. The story in this Shank isnt as good as in the first Shank but it doesnt really matter when your juggling guys in the air with a chainsaw and and a shotgun. There is a girl you get to play as in one chapter and its quite good. There is online-coop survival mode which I have not tried out yet. This will probably be a one time playthrough but its action packed thrillride and fun. All in all this feels very similar to the first one but if you liked the first Shank then pick it up for only 800 msp or $10. FINAL SCORE: 8/10... |

The Past Few Weeks In Review
By 1NintendoFan 02-08-2012 01:42 PM

Well, I'm getting a little better, some time has still passed, but not nearly as much as before. So, hopefully my blogs will continue to get a little more frequent. I think things at work are starting to settle down, somewhat, so that should help as well. Now, if I could just pull myself away from the awesome games I have been playing lately to take a few minutes and write a blog, that would make things easier
So, this weeks blog I have no pickups As much as I love getting new gaming items to add to my collection, I recently realized that there is just no way I will ever get through all of my games. So, any breaks I can take without buying games is really helpful. Fortunately, I made some progress with my games as well, so no pickups and actually beating some games has been really helpful to my backlog. So, let's get started for this week:Game Progress: ... |

TERA Beta Report: Action MMOs are the future!
By Pascual 02-08-2012 01:26 PM
|
|
The Exiled Realm of Arborea or Tera if your not crazy is a Korean action MMO and will soon make it’s US and EU debut. Recently Frogster (The EU publishers of Tera) planed to do a sneak peek weekend, where people could try out the game before it went into closed beta. That didn’t happen. From what I can tell their servers blew up under the load and they canceled the weekend event. Of course this was followed with people on the official forums demanding compensation for all their lost FREE! Yesterday Frogster announced a short two hour test for a “Functional tests of our systems” and I jumped at the chance to check it out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRLwAWmYgyg I’ve heard about Tera for a while now but was never interested until I watched the trailer about politics and the ability to govern in Tera. The biggest thing I miss from MMOs are the social elements something like this has the potential to be very interesting. Unfortunately apart from the trailer... |

I would actually take Jasmine over Tink I think…but there is something funnier about getting turned on by a creature that is both unattainable due to the fact that she is a cartoon..and also, if she were real would literally be incapable of even giving you a hand job. Julia Roberts Tink aside of course. Gaming: Nothing since Sunday Minecrafting but there are about to be a stream of releases. I am both excited and worried. TV/Movies: Shameless Sunday night…it was better than it has been and now Steve is back so the main story will be interesting again…and not just a... |

Spruce Beer by Empire Bottling Works...ohhh boy.
I carried both excitement and dread when it came to this review. I was excited because I've never had Spruce Beer. A soda flavored naturally with spruce needles, bark & root! I was dreading it because it's a soda naturally flavored with spruce needles, bark & root! It's a beverage. I've gotta try it! Will I drink the whole bottle? Hmmm! |

Is Gotham City Imposters taking DLC too far?
By adawg555 02-07-2012 05:51 PM
|
|
I posted an article about it here: http://bgbureau.com/1146/gotham-city-imposters-committing-a-dlc-foul/
But I need to take this to the blog because its a question that deserves to be asked. For the gist of what's going on, Gotham City Imposters is a downloadable game coming out tomorrow on the PS3 and Xbox 360 for $15. In the game, you unlock weapons, shirts. pants, masks, etc as you rank up. But as revealed today, you can also pay a pretty penny to unlock these items at any time. Now, if someone wants to pay to unlock something, that's fine. But it's another thing, in my opinion, when the developer tries to charge $4 to unlock a pair of pants for the game. I'm still gonna get the game because I have been anticipating it since playing the beta, but I can fully see why people would want to boycott this sort of thing, and already have started doing so. What do you think. Is this taking the DLC train a little too far? |

Bill Gates backs climate scientists lobbying for large-scale geoengineering
By rogueweapon 02-07-2012 11:39 AM
|
![]() When I was a naive, little gamer I never understood the hate for Microsoft and Bill Gates. I didn't get why people called him evil but the older I get the more he reminds me of a Bond Villian. Btw, TIME really gave him those red horns. source: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environmen...geoengineering A small group of leading climate scientists, financially supported by billionaires including Bill Gates, are lobbying governments and international bodies to back experiments into manipulating the climate on a global scale to avoid catastrophic climate change. The scientists, who advocate geoengineering methods such as spraying millions of tonnes of reflective particles of sulphur dioxide 30 miles above earth, argue that a "plan B" for climate change will be needed if the UN and politicians cannot agree... |

How I Got It: NBA Elite 11 |
|
After I posted my last blog featuring my recently acquired "holy grail of my collection", NBA Elite 11, I've already had 5 PM's asking how I actually got the game, from where/whom, and if I was interested in selling it. I don't at all mind answering PM's from fellow CAG's, but I figured it'd be easier for those wondering if I just threw up a blog explaining the details.
First, a little backstory: I graduated from college last year, after spending 5+ years in school between Northern Illinois University and Alpha Pacific Institute. I'm from Chicago, but I spent the last two years living in Tempe, AZ going to API. I moved back home shortly after graduating. As you know, the job market is tough. It took me a year before finding a retail job out in Arizona, and when I moved back home at the end of my apartment's lease, I was looking for work all over again. I went to school for journalism/editing/television/radio broadcasting/directing/lighting...essentially... |

Indie Mondays: Little Racers STREET Review (Xbox 360)
By adawg555 02-06-2012 08:37 PM
|
|
I originally posted this at my website www.BGBureau.com and in the forums, but I figured I'd post it here for more to see as well.
We at the Better Gaming Bureau think that Indie Games are criminally overlooked. ![]() The Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Wii are all ripe with small games from small developers that are ready to provide hours of fun at a small price if someone were to just give them a chance. This is why we are introducing a new feature, Indie Mondays. With Indie Mondays, we take a look at these type games every other week and let you know whether to Buy, Try, or Skip a particular title altogether. We hope this serves as a way to both provide great game suggestions for gamers, and give these Indie developers some of the coverage they deserve. With that being said, let's introduce the first game Indie Mondays took a look at: Little... |

Teenage Caveman Movie Review - Good Bad Flicks
By dkcecil 02-06-2012 08:33 PM

This week is the bizarre teensploitation flick Teenage Caveman.
![]() Teenage Caveman Directed by notorious teen exploitation master Larry Clark, this is a movie that many people hate with a passion. For me it is just a ridiculous attempt at social commentary, with an overwhelming amount of nudity thrown in. The DVD is easy to find and it is currently available to from Netflix. |

Top 5 Worst Sequels to a Video Game
By SolidJake 02-06-2012 04:06 PM

We've all been there. Waiting in eager anticipation for the next installment of our favorite series to be released. It's been teased for years, shown off at multiple E3's, and graced the covers of every video game magazine there is. It's the midnight opening, we rush to our local Gamestop and wait with all of the other sweaty fans panting and raving about how epic this game is going to be. We finally receive our copy from the drone behind the counter and rush home. We put the game in, and after the first hour of playing, we hate it.
I want to look back at the top five most disappointing sequels to great franchises: 5) Fable III ![]() Source: G4TV The original Fable was released in September of 2004 on Microsoft's home console the Xbox. It was critically acclaimed for being a unique third person role playing experience brought to life on a console. It received... |

The Tragedy of YU-NO: The Girl That Chants Love at the End of the World
By kainzero 02-06-2012 03:23 PM

![]() Don't copy that floppy! First of all, I just want to mention that the hardcoregaming article is superbly written and details everything perfectly. I even jacked this image from that site. I recommend that you provide them patronage. http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/yuno/yuno.htm Spoilers ahead so be warned, though I doubt any of you have the patience to sit through this game anyway. I barely had it. Yu-No is a visual novel. Or I can be honest and call it an eroge, the Japanese bastardization of erotic game. At first I was skeptical of the whole visual novel/eroge genre, simply because I thought they were just games for people to get their rocks off. Certainly you can't get good storytelling out of them. Furthermore, they were in that anime style, and modern anime is terrible. But... then I played 999: 9 Doors/People/Hours |

TV Choice
By toddacoco40 02-06-2012 09:50 AM

I finally bought that TV I was contemplating. I actually settled on the LG 37" and have been in love with it. I tried the larger 42" Samsung but found that it was too big for the distance I sit from my unit. On a related note I have spent over 100 hours on Skyrim on this new TV and continue to get lost in this great game. I have finished the main quest and continue to work on the individual guilds. I have one bad ass sneaky Nord archer as my favorite character.
I am hoping that Amalur will draw me away from Skyrim before I get burnt out. I have already purchasedd and preloaded Amalur on my pc via Amazon. Word to the wise. Buy from Amazon and get you codes and then head over to Origin and enter your code and download there. The servers at Origin seem to bee much faster, at least they were for me Saturday morning. I think I am going to like this one. |

Super Sunday Poker Session
By grrouchie 02-06-2012 03:54 AM

Tonight I went out and played poker at the Mirage. I was supposed to be meeting a friend who was coming in from the Boston area.
However, by the time I was ready to be seated he sent me a text telling me he was at Harrah's. Oh well, guess tonight isn't the night. Maybe tomorrow. I ran like Dog for the 1st half of the Super Bowl and then I ran like Dog hated me during the 2nd half. After the game was over I changed tables twice and ended up recovering a decent chunk of my money before heading home. It's going on 1 am and I'd still rather be out playing poker, but I put in over 8 hours at the Mirage so I don't really have a need to stay out till 5 am only to come home horribly tired and have to try to function during the day. I suppose I will head out again tomorrow to try to meet up with my friend before he heads home (he leaves weds, but I work Tues/Weds and don't have the free time I would like). I found out that The Mirage... |
