my awesome dreamcast

By Thaos627 Today 09:52 PM
Ive modded this thing twice now and still cant get it to play cds.

this time i use computer parts so i can do more and put the program i was using before to play games from all systems (this disk just allows you to switch formats you need a good disk drive ps3's should be able to do it too but im too cheap it do that).

its basicly a computer in console form but screws up less than a MS POS. Its being painted soon idk what i should paint on it. ANY IDEAS?

I think i will make it look like Miles "Tails" Prower, unless some actually gives me a good idea... no racing stripes or flames they suck.

So, what makes Uncharted 2 so great? (my semi review/gripe list)

By AkariK Today 09:15 PM
Ok, I'll admit, I've never played Uncharted 1. I saw it played at someone's house, thought meh. So when Uncharted 2 came out, I passed over it for Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time (which I went on to get the plat trophy for). Recently I went to visit a friend, and another friend brought over Uncharted 2, so I tried it and thought, well, this is playable. So I found someone willing to trade it on CAG and now I have a copy.

Bear in mind, I haven't beaten the game yet. Also, I started on Hard mode, despite that. Here's my opinions on it (summarized in 1 line at the very bottom if you are lazy):

- The cover system is RETARDED, as is the stealth system that goes with it.When I'm ducking behind a crate, and a guy walks alongside it, I want to hit square and grab him. Silently. Instead, Drake gets up and punches in the opposite direction. This has happened a multitude of times to me, and it pisses me off because I usually die.

Also, when I'm running from...

The gaming gods must not want me to play MW2.

By jman619 Today 07:04 PM
I've tried renting it several times at the video store. Around a week to be exact with no luck. I went to the crappier rental place today, and sitting right there was the game. I thought sweet! I'm finally going to play it! So I took it up front. He scans it, and says. Oh I'm sorry she was holding it for someone else and forgot to keep it back here. I wanted to say really are you ing kidding me!!!!!!! Although I said I guess that's fine, and walked away. I would just buy it,but don't really have the money. Plus I've never been a COD person. I wanted to try out the game before I ever bought it.

Never again...no more PC games on a console.

By lustyhitter Today 04:06 PM
This is going to be quite controversial to some.

I will never again buy a game ported from the PC game to play on my PS3 or Xbox 360.

It hurts to say that because I've always had an issue with the hermits at PC Gamer who have always felt the PC is the best platform for gaming.

I just can't play games like Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead, Dragon's Age: Origins, Fallout 3 or Elder's Scrolls on a console any more. I feel I'm not getting the definitive version of the game in question. These games just don't play the way they should on a console.

Even Brutal Legend, a game that was only released on consoles, had the look and trappings of a PC game.

It's time for me to get a real gaming PC and play these PC first games on the proper platform. Console games should be played on a console, PC games on a PC. I can't take the cheap way out in this regard any longer.

I know a lot of people are going to disagree, won't really care...

Why do people care so much about hardware?

By kainzero Today 12:42 PM

Where's the blast processing?

In these tumultuous console wars, I keep hearing people talk about hardware issues. This system is more powerful. This system has more RAM. This system has better buffer memory.

I can understand people talking about things like wireless being included or Blu-Ray, HD support or not, or whatever. But when it comes to things like CPU, if you're not a game designer, you shouldn't care.

If you were a PC Gamer, it's different. You can customize your system. You can add new RAM and then brag to your friend about how much cooler your computer is while playing Dungeons and Dragons and hosting Starcraft LAN parties, hopefully with TossGirl.

But if you're a console gamer, it doesn't matter. The only thing you'll ever see is what a game company puts out, after all the programming is done, after all the graphics are put in, etc. That's what you look at. You

Which PS3 exclusives to get first?

By Anexanhume Today 12:18 PM
So, I'm looking to get a PS3 bundle on Friday through Amazon, and assuming they'll offer choices on games, I'm pondering which exclusive games to pick up (I already have a 360, so I just want to focus on PS3 exclusives for now).

The main things I play are shooters, action games and RPGs (Halo, L4D, Oblivion, Mass Effect, Prince of Persia etc.) with the occasional platformers and racing games.

Right now, it looks like inFamous and Demon's Souls might be good picks, but I'm also interested in Ratchet & Clank and Killzone 2. I'm not sure if Little Big Planet would be my cup of tea. I want to get the Resistance and Uncharted games, but I want to play them in order, so those can be recommended with their predecessors as well.

With those in mind, please recommend some exclusives for me

A CAG made my wife cry

By dv8mad Today 11:05 AM

I could be linking all night if I tried to reference all my blogs with bad news in them. Typically, the bad news is somehow money related. However, I've tried to keep things more upbeat recently (because I had promised one more bad post) with more positive blog entries related to my son, Ryu, and his new adventures in walking, making fun of The Mana Knight, Engrish and crappy China. OK, so maybe that last one wasn't really upbeat.

Anyway, it's thanks to the post about Ryu walking that my wife cried.

I have many friends on CAG, and when I say friends, I really mean that. Not just some people I know from a message board, but people that I would have no problem inviting into my life.

These people always help me through my tough times, and that's one reason why we are friends, not only that though (because it's kind of a shitty, greedy reason, isn't it?), but I also feel that they just "get me" and that's not something that comes along...

drunk gaming - have ye done it?

I am a modest drinker, and by modest i mean at most once a month. But I have found that drunk gaming makes me focus more on the game, than I would have without. Its like my adderall. I can plow through my rpgs like noneother.Though I love RPGS, the daunting task of doing the small things in rpgs that make it tedious piss me off, and i have found my solution...

drunk gaming.

do you partake in this tradition? what are your experiences? stories?

Edit: do not play mgs4 while being drunk, it will make you sober with all those cut scenes.

Amiami now ships internationally!

By AkariK Yesterday 09:39 PM
If you've been wanting rare things from amiami.com (Japanese site, figures, collectibles, pretty much everything) but lacking a way to buy them without paying a 3rd party service a huge chunk of change, your dreams have come true! If not... well.. ignore this post. Amiami uses EMS and SAL, and I believe they charge an extra fee (700 yen) for SAL Registered mail.

Just go here: http://www.amiami.com/shop/?set=english and you should be able to start ordering. With this knowledge, I may not need to abuse politely ask dv8mad to buy me figures anymore... I already preordered a figure that comes out in February, woo.

First five Nintendo Shop's demos impression. 1/3

By MiNuN Yesterday 08:48 PM

A few days ago the Nintendo Shop channel (for the Nintendo Wii) had finally release their first batch of demos (congratulations Nintendo). The batch totaled to five demos; which were all Wii-ware titles, and I believe that future demos will also be Wii-ware titles (I do not think they are going to have play-trials for any of the Virtual Console titles). The five demos are 'Pokemon Rumble', 'Final Fantasy CC: My Life as a Darklord', 'NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits', 'Bit. Trip Beat' & 'World of Goo' (All of these titles's full version are already out and ready to be bought in the Nintendo Shop channel!)

All of the above mentioned titles were already on my wish-list before the demos came out, which meant for sure I wanted those games, but, as you already know, it could never hurt to try out the demos, because it could change your paradigm of the game for the better or worse! Just like...

My Deals of the Week November 15 - 22, 2009

By 1NintendoFan Yesterday 08:22 PM
This week started out pretty boring, if not disappointing, but it ended with several surprises that helped make it my favorite week since starting CAG (I literally couldn't sleep Saturday night I was so pumped from the deals, which is kind of sad if I think about it, but it was still awesome!). Unfortunately I can't go into details on those deals in this blog, but will explain more later.

So anyway. I checked Target on Monday night and they still were about two drops behind on all the games. Even if I used the coupons they were still higher than I wanted to pay. So, even though I hated leaving them (with my past experiences at Target, I could tell it was getting really close to when they were going to drop the prices, based on the amount of time that had passed since other CAGs had the drops) that's what I decided to do.

I wasn't able to get back to Target on Tuesday and Wednesday as I had hoped because I had other things and wasn't able to make it. So, the...

For some reason I have been dying to blog about my daily video game adventures, not that they are particularly exciting. They are not. Nor do I enjoy blogging. When i realized that CAG had a blogging system, I decided I was going to do something with it. CAG has always been a a good place for me, both the deals and the people. Even with a SN like gaypunk, place has always been classy with me. (I'm actually Bi, and no longer a punk, just a guy with a desk job) My girlfriend recently moved out of our one bedroom apartment due to visa issues, returning to Canada. Weeks later said apartment was robbed, and with it every portable gaming device known to man. More on that later, all you need to know is, they left the 360.......

That brings up to date.

I had a very specific gaming goal this weekend, and that was to put to bed the monster that was Dragon Age. Dragon Age is a game that would of taken me forever if I was still living with my girlfriend. Due to the financial...

Assassins Creed II MASSIVE FREEZING (PS3)

By the_punisher Yesterday 07:17 PM
Anyone know of a fix to this? I'm playing on my 60 GB PS3 updated to the latest firmware, and it freezes constantly, at least once or twice an hour, sometimes at loading screens, sometimes randomly in the world. Audio sometimes stops working, it sometimes freezes when i press start or select, and lags a little randomly as well.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

I got into Mensa!

By hallowicious Yesterday 06:45 PM
I just got my Mensa acceptance letter. I took the test in October (national Mensa testing month) and today they sent me the paperwork to fill out for dues.

It's almost a scam, though. The membership year ends on March 31, and dues are not prorated. This means in order to join now, I have to pay $79 for the yearly membership which expires in just over 4 months.

It's shady to me that Mensa, in its infinite wisdom, chooses October as the testing month, knowing that new members will be forced to pay the same amount as people who paid their dues in April. Why not just make March the official month, allowing new members to get the same length of membership for their payment?

Of course, I'm sure Mensa realizes this, and figures that new members will be excited to join and either ignore or fail to notice the footnote, but still... shenanigans. I'll probably pay for the 3 year plan at $180, fooling myself into thinking I'm paying $79 for the next two membership...

Virtual Arcade retro lovelyness.

By TJ UK Yesterday 04:23 PM

So I managed to scrabble together enough Nintendo club stars with my initial Wii purchases to grab myself 500 Wii points card. What better first purchase from the Wii online shop than Super Mario Bros. for the NES?

I've spent a gleeful couple of hours today playing this little gem. I shamefully never finished it back in the day. Even with the warp pipes that final encounter with Bowser remained beyond my grasp. So now on Wii, over 20 years after it's initial release, I have another chance. I've made a rule for myself that I'm not allowed to use a warp past a given world until I've finished it. So far, I'm up to world 5. Already my D-pad thumb is getting sore - this could be a long and painful night. Just one more go...

New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii) Review

By SuperPhillip Yesterday 04:20 PM
Vote on my November poll!

Last Friday we reviewed New Super Mario Bros. for the DS. Now it's time at long last to take a reviewer's eye to New Super Mario Bros. Wii for... the Wii! Sit back, relax, and enjoy this brand-new review.

Nostalgia Off, Propeller Cap On.

Magical isn't a word I throw around loosely. There really aren't many games or series that come off as magical when you play them. The Super Mario Bros. games, on the other hand, are magical. They may vary in degrees of magic, but most often than not you're getting a whimsical journey that touches upon what memories of nostalgia are made of. It's been a few years shy of two decades since we last saw a console 2-D Mario. Sure, games like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy are excellent 3-D platforming adventures, but you can't escape the fondness...

Ah, those tweens....and this mysterious David Abrams.

In the opening cutscene of Brutal Legend, Eddie Riggs is approached by the unnamed lead singer of Kabbage Boy. While toting his PSPGo/Blackberry device, he asks that Eddie remodel their set because it clashes with their shift towards appeasing their "tween" demographic.

These tweens lately have been spending their allowance on mediocre franchises like Twilight and that mediocre "country singer" that has won a ton of awards simply because she's that thin, statuesque blond that the corporate machine loves jamming down everybody's throats over and over again.

I can see why Eddie is so depressed at work. These tween girls are ruining it for everybody. Why the SHAQ is the machine bending over backwards to appease them? Why do they have a hissy fit when adults tell them they have crappy taste in entertainment? And why, when they become actual teens or college students, are they still attracted to kiddie fare?

I don't know where they...
