Vote for my Drak Souls 2 Shield Design please.

By thorbahn3 04-22-2013 10:30 AM
So I saw the blog post that's about three or four entries down, and decided to enter too. When I think of medieval stuff, I often think of my own last name, Thorbahn, so I decided to go with some kind of lightning design.

I took some photos I had, and came up with the design you see on the upper left. It tells a simple story of the impending strike the lightning will make to the tree, just like how a sword and shield do the same. Anyways, if you like please vote here: https://apps.facebook.com/darksoulsi...n=view&id=2382

Rocket Launched: The Rocket Launcher Interactive Podcast

By thorbahn3 11-07-2010 04:29 PM
So I've been working hard on Clastle. myself and the other people I'm working with decided to create a podcast for people interested in learning about the game creation process, working with other people and more. The podcast isn't too long and goes along at a nice pace so if you're interested in the game or thoughts on creating a game from people who are fairly new to it I think you'll enjoy it:

The Cydonia Complex trailer

By thorbahn3 05-22-2010 01:08 AM
For my DVD portfolio I created a "The Cydonia Complex" trailer of sorts for people to see. In case you didn't read my last blog post, "The Cydonia Complex" is a game I made with five other students in 20 weeks time. Everything was made by us except for a few things. Check out the trailer here:

The Cydonia Complex: The first game I made I'm proud of.

By thorbahn3 05-12-2010 10:25 PM
Almost three years ago I enrolled at my local community college's (Central Ohio Technical College) Digital Media Design course under their Game Design Option. Well, I'm almost done and I figured it was about time to post something I've created for all to see. Last Fall I began working on a game called "The Cydonia Complex." The story is about Jake, a terraform researcher who is trying to make Mars habitable for human life when a race of aliens invade Mars. I worked on the game for roughly 20 weeks with a group of about 7 people including myself, with TGEA (Torque Game Engine Advanced) and lots of other software programs.
We would be in the computer lab until around 1AM or so and then go to our 8:30AM classes. Fun stuff. Anyways, follow the link to see some screen shots. I'm busy with school, but as soon as I can I'll post the game online for everyone to play for free. Anyways check out what I did here: http://thorbahn.carbonmade.com/projects/2680620 .

Help me Programmer John, you're my only hope.

By thorbahn3 11-06-2009 04:40 PM
I've liked the new CAG site ever since it first appeared except for one aspect: The Cagcast options. You get a button that plays or pauses but no fast forward or rewind on the in browser player. This s me up every time I accidentally go click on the deals page or something else by accident. I then need to fast forward with the crappy quicklime player or re listen to what I should be able to fast forward through. Please John, look at the Smodcast page here: http://www.quickstopentertainment.co...6/smodcast-96/ . It has a pop up player that is just the browser player so there is no chance of accidentally clicking a link while the player is playing.

Secret to winning easily in COD:WaW (hint: map packs)

By thorbahn3 09-14-2009 06:26 AM
Last night I played a lot of Call of Duty: World at War with some fellow CAGs. Interestingly enough, we'd see from our chat party the little speakers going off when a map pack 1, 2, or 3 map would appear. People would vote to skip, not get it and the match would start. When me and my friends (who all own all the map packs) started playing the match the other team wasn't there, and would win via forfeit.

This happened about 5-7 times during the night. Once or twice it would even go from a skipped Map pack 1 map to a map pack 2 map and everyone on the other team would get dumped out and would score a hollow victory. Treyarch has a problem here. If you ask me, they should sell a bundle with all the maps for $19.99 or $14.99 in stores and on Xbox Live. Just slap on a nazi zombie on it and you'd sell it easily. That way we can all play on newer maps that...

Netflix instant watch must: The IT Crowd

By thorbahn3 04-13-2009 01:32 AM
If you've had Netflix instant watch for awhile now, you'd know by now that Netflix has a shit load of British Comedies up the ass. One of the best shows I've seen is a show called "The IT Crowd." This show from one of the producers of "The Office" is about the IT department that dwells in the basement of a office building working for some no name corporation. High jinx insure when a woman becomes the IT department's manager... , just do me a favor and watch this show.

Top 5 Strong Bad episodes in a attractive list

By thorbahn3 12-16-2008 01:04 PM
I bought them. I beat them. That's right, I purchased all five episodes of Strong Bad's cool game for Attractive People for my Nintendo Wii. And yes, I'm a CAG so I only paid about $25.00 thanks to finding some Wii points cards on the cheap.

5. Strong Badia the Free
This episode was my least favorite. Basically, Strong Bad's neighbors each create their own country and Strong Bad has to trick them into joining them and overthrow the King of Town. While it is entertaining, it had this not-so-fun mini-game that played like Chess you needed to play and the lack of new areas kinda killed it for me.

4. Homestar Ruiner
Yup, episode 1 is number four. While the gameplay is fun, the overall story didn't really have a fun theme unlike the latter episodes. I suppose this was for people to get us to the Homestar universe.

3. Baddest of the Bands
Great episode because of one word: Limozeen! the inclusion of the legendary rock band...

Thor's Netflix XBL pick Vol. 2: Desert Punk

By thorbahn3 12-13-2008 03:55 PM
If you're like myself, you've noticed some slim pickings on the Netflix instant watch selection when it comes to anime. Don't get me wrong, there are some great shows like the Ghost in a Shell series and movies like Ninja Scroll, but there's just too few. Well imagine my surprise when a friend recommended Desert Punk to me. My plan was to rent the DVDs from Netflix to only get the shock that it was available for instant watch. The reason I didn't see this on the list of anime available might be because it's a Starz play video, but from the moment I started watching the series I couldn't stop.

Much like Trigun and Cowboy Bebop, the main character is a lovable loser. He also goes into perv mode whenever he sees a "hot babe." Punk spends his time as a gun for hire that finds himself in all sorts of weird scenarios like protecting a vehicle carrying tons of shit or being the target of an insane sniper. Near the end, the series goes into a different direction I didn't...

Violence on my mind

By thorbahn3 12-11-2008 03:55 AM
This past autumn quarter I took Composition 1. A few of the assignments I wrote about included video games since that's what I like to write about of course. The following paper was assigned to be a reflection paper about some aspect of American life. My choice was on violence in the media. Enjoy,

Violence on my mind.

Violence is in America’s genes. From the Revolutionary War, which won our
independence, to current events, violence is something that is always a constant
reminder in the back of our minds. Because of this our culture is reflected into our
imagination and is used as a tool to entertain the American masses.

As someone who has lived in America my entire life, I’ve often seen...

Thor's Netflix XBL pick: volume 1

By thorbahn3 11-23-2008 01:37 AM
Alright, I've been watching a lot of movies via the NXE's Netflix feature, and so have many CAGs. Each week(or when I feel like it) I'll point out a hidden gem that has been forgotten or overlooked. Here's my first pick.

Corn King
http://www.netflix.com/Movie/King_Co...1384272514_0_0

"In Aaron Woolf's thought-provoking documentary, friends Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis move back to America's Corn Belt to plant an acre of the nation's most-grown and most-subsidized grain in an attempt to follow their crop into the U.S. food supply. What they discover about genetically modified seeds, powerful herbicides and the realities of modern farming calls into question government subsidies, our fast-food lifestyle and the quality of our food."

This movie blew me away and shows just how America's eating habits have changed in as little as thirty years. It blew me away. Our meat, our candy,...

What I watched on Netflix via XBL

By thorbahn3 11-22-2008 12:27 AM
So Wednesday the NXE came out. It's ok. The only thing I wanted to check out was the new Netflix watch instantly feature. After I got my activation code, loggd into netflix.com and activated my account I was off and running. The first title I watched was "The Pixar Story" which is a documnetary style film that tells the history of Pixar from the beginning their achievements and inside stories including the falling out they had with Disney before Cars was released, but quickly kissed and made up hardcore style. Great film for anyone interested.

Next, I watched "John Carpenter's The Thing." This was always a movie I wanted to watch, but it never shows up on cable TV and I'm not renting some old movie. Great movie, but you most likely already knew. Much like "The Thing" I watched "The Abyss" and "They Live." Both are good, and show boobies.

Lastly, I watched "Outsourced" a newer movie about a man...
