Assassins Creed II MASSIVE FREEZING (PS3)
By the_punisher Yesterday 07:17 PM
|
|
Anyone know of a fix to this? I'm playing on my 60 GB PS3 updated to the latest firmware, and it freezes constantly, at least once or twice an hour, sometimes at loading screens, sometimes randomly in the world. Audio sometimes stops working, it sometimes freezes when i press start or select, and lags a little randomly as well.

Knights of the Old Republic- Where Has It Been All My Life?! A Review by The_Punisher |
|
BioWare instantly went onto my radar after a couple of hours of Mass Effect. Having never played another BioWare game, I was instantly taken back by the immersive and massive world, and how this company I’d barely heard of had created an entire, unique galaxy. Every character in the game had a unique personality, and there were thousands of dialog options to choose from throughout the game that even determined whether you were “good” or “bad”. Mass Effect quickly became one of the best games not only of 2007, but one of the best that I’d ever played, and I wanted more.
![]() A quick Wikipedia search on BioWare shows that they’ve primarily worked on two other critically acclaimed series’, Baldur’s Gate and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (as well as Jade Empire, which I started a long time ago but want to try and get back into eventually). They also made Neverwinter... |

PC-to-PC Remote Connectivity- Need Advice!!!
By the_punisher 11-03-2009 12:45 PM
|
|
I want to remotely view my PC Desktop running Windows XP through my newly-acquired PC Laptop running Windows 7. I've never remotely connected PC's before, and the only program i know of, Mesh, isn't compatible with Windows 7. I'm also not sure if this matters, but my Desktop uses an Ethernet connection and my laptop is on a wireless connection. Does anyone know of any programs like Mesh (preferably free or somewhat cheap) that I could use to do this?
Short blog, so here's a link to my other, game-related blog, a review of GTA IV: TBoGT: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=11183 Enjoy. |

REVIEW- Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony |
|
The Ballad of Gay Tony is definitely worthy of your time. It adds the basic features you'd expect from an expansion: new guns, cars, and other features (parachutes, for example), as well as an entirely new campaign. And
, is it awesome.![]() This review is going to mainly focus on the key differences from a presentation standpoint. Everything in the game has had an 80's-makeover, and it really makes the game that much better. Tons of new 80's music has been added (including a new radio station, Vice City FM), streets names are now colored in pink and yellow, the loading screen now has a pink font with sparkles, and at the end of every mission, the statistics come up in front of a rainbow background. This 80's theme keeps the focus of what this expansion wants to be, and it makes the game that much better. The story is definitely the highlight of this expansion. All of the... |

Evolution of my Gaming Collection at College + Uncharted 2 & Red Faction Impressions |
|
I didn't really want to bring down my entire video game collection, or any of it for that matter, when I started college. I was sick of most of my games after playing them for so long, and there was almost nothing that I hadn't already beaten. However, there was one game I was currently playing on my transfer down to college, and so that's the only thing I brought with me:
So, around the middle of August, what you see above was my video game collection. 007: Quantum of Solace. Sad, I know. For those of you keeping up with my blogs, you'll know that it's been a very exciting gaming season since then, and I’ve picked up most of the major titles that've released so far. The next two pictures are my new pick-ups while here, and everything I have down here (including things I had shipped to me from home). ... |

What is it about Halo...Halo 3: ODST Mini-Review + Rambling on Halo in General
By the_punisher 09-24-2009 01:01 AM
|
|
What is it about the Halo franchise that keeps me coming back...
This is the question i told myself i started my adventure through Halo 3: ODST. There are better shooters, better environments, better stories. Killzone 2, Dead Space, and Call of Duty 4 perfected the shooter for me, with tight and precise controls. Games like Cryostasis & Batman: Arkham Asylum have worlds that are absolutely jaw-dropping in not only the art style, but the graphics as well (well, Cryostasis would look nice if i had a good PC). There are much better stories, Metal Gear Solid and Grand Theft Auto as franchises come to mind. So why is it that i get excited for every single halo? Why do i feel the need to pay retail on day 1 for every iteration? Why do i manage to lose track of time every time i turn the controller on? Why? Because Halo is ing awesome. ... |

Cryostasis: The Sleep of Reason- The_Punisher's Initial Impressions/Mini-Review
By the_punisher 09-22-2009 07:17 PM
|
|
I'd never heard of this game until GameSpot reviewed it and gave it an 8.0, something that slightly put it on my radar, but not something i pursued. There's way too much to play to keep track of every half-decent PC release that comes out. I decided to pull the trigger on this game when, just last week, Amazon's Deal of the Day was, you guessed it, Cryostasis: The Sleep of Reason, only $12.98.
Holy shit, why was this not on my radar!? ![]() Cryostasis: The Sleep of Reason is one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played. It has the beautiful and interesting environments of Bishock, and the creepy and intense gameplay of F.E.A.R., with its own unique sense of desperation due to the cold factor. But you guys have no idea what i'm talking about, do you? Cryostasis begins on a frozen cruise... |

The_Punisher's Pick-Ups August-September 2009 + Batman: AA Impressions and More
By the_punisher 09-21-2009 02:47 AM

I haven't had many game-related updates in awhile, so i figure i'll fill everyone in that's interested. Yeah, okay, that may not be very many of you, but when was the last time i cared what you guys thought? Okay, that's a lie too. I'll shut up now.
We'll start this story on August 4th, when Amazon's lightning deal for The World Ends With You was $9.99. Can you blame me? It was an impluse buy, and i've yet to actually even open it. I'll get around to it over Christmas break most likely, since i didn't even bring my DS (or PSP for that matter) to college. I barely get enough gaming-time as it is. ![]() Speaking of gaming time, i've spent nearly all of it with Batman: Arkham Asylum, a game i picked up on day 1 and did not regret it. The game started out simple enough, with minor brawling and linear gameplay tat just kept you moving. However, i quickly became amazed at how... |

So, What Kind of GTA Fan Are You?
By the_punisher 09-08-2009 08:26 PM
|
|
It's no secret that i'm madly in love with the Grand Theft Auto series. GTA III, for me, defined what i view is a hardcore game, and every iteration since has been nothing short of amazing. And man, oh man, the music. It was good when they made the songs themselves in GTA III, when they made two of the best soundtracks ever in Vice City in San Andreas, and, as you can see below, is still amazing in GTA IV and its expansions. Yep, i'm a nerd. Live with it :P

College Social Life- How Do You Make A Best Friend? (No, I'm NOT Pathetic) |
|
Well, college is finally underway, and I’m beginning to get used to college life. The one thing I’m not used to, and the topic for this blog, is friends, and social life in general.
![]() I’m not The Mana Knight, and I’m not going to ramble about my life’s problems. I just wanted to get that out of the way. Now, the one thing that I can’t stand about college is trying to make a completely new group of friends. I had a decent amount of friends back home, but undoubtedly I had a couple that I could definitely trust. They were trustworthy friends, and for the most part didn’t go out without me at least knowing (i.e. they never ditched me). I’m now in college trying to find a group even half as decent as the ones from home, and I’m certainly not going to say that it’s easy. I’ve been dropped into a place with over 2,000 freshmen and over 15,000 people overall on campus,... |

Road Trip to College: The 19 Hour Ride to the University of Miami
By the_punisher 08-20-2009 11:43 AM
|
|
Yep, it’s that time already.
Background: I’m going to the University of Miami in case nobody keeps up with my blogs. Monday 8/17 I woke up at 4:30 and began my road trip from Westchester, New York to Coral Gables, Florida, and man was it a long trip. A lot of fun though. You don’t realize how different some places are from your hometown until you leave. For, I’d say over 90% of the drive, me and my dad drove through what is pretty much nothing. There are trees and road, but not much else. We bought a radar before we left which meant that we could go over 90 mph and still manage to avoid the cops (it worked by the way, not one ticket). Along the way, I managed to see some pretty interesting things. I don’t know how well you guys know New York, but in general, speed limits for highways go from 55 to 65 mph, and people generally try to follow that. As we drove out... |

![]() Have you even been so tired that you just wanted to collapse, but not tired enough to go to sleep? It's 7:30, and there's no way that i'd ever manage to fall asleep, but at the same time, i just want to. I'm not in the mood to watch TV, to play a game, to do anything of importance really. Apple Customer Support is the Best in the World--- Rant on Apple in General
By the_punisher 07-29-2009 10:34 PM

I've always been a Dell guy when it comes to PC's because i'm not smart enough (in the sense of how to build a PC, anyway
![]() The logo i despise because of Macs, but respect because of my beautiful, beautiful iPhone. That rant leads me to the fact that i've never been much of an Apple person. Of course i have an iPod, but i've never been a fan of Macs, and i never plan on buying one. Ever. It's okay if you just like going on the internet and using basic features, but if you want to actually play games and do more than just the basics, you need a PC. Most applications just aren't compatible with a Mac, and besides, i like the overall userface of Windows better anyway. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnyway, a year... |

Organizing My Anime Collection: Yes, I'm That Awesome |
|
I've been meaning to organize my anime collection for a long time. I had titles all over the place, in random orders, and not only was it not eye-pleasing, sometimes it was just plain hard to find things. And so, I present to you, my new and improved anime collection:
It all started when I got my Rightstuf package today after getting home. I came to the realization that I just don't have room for all of this. I honestly didn't know what I was going to do with everything that had just arrived. I decided I’d figure it out later, and as I went to go to dinner, I came upon a pile of "junk" from the people who were moving out. And of course, what was among this pile of junk? None other than a perfect shelf, something I’ve needed for a long time now. So just like a homeless man cheapass, I picked it up, and carried it home. Trust me, that was... |

Concerts: Van Halen, Def Leppard + Posion + Cheap Trick, AC/DC Next?
By the_punisher 07-28-2009 12:41 AM
|
|
I've always really liked classic rock. It's just my style of music. I can't stand most of what on the radio now, especially 99% of all the rap on now. I know i'll sound like an old man as i write this, but it's just my opinion, feel free to disagree. With the exception of Kanye West and some of the songs on GTA IV's radio, i just can't stand modern music as it's all about a repetitive chorus with a decent beat. Nothing is memorable anymore, songs are constantly tossed aside in favor of whatever is new, and the older songs are just forgotten about. They were never good songs, just something to listen to.
I was never big on concerts until recently, as my friend loves them and always wants me to go with him (since he won't go himself, and doesn't know many people that like classic rock like we do). The first concert i went to was Van Halen @ Madison Square Garden in New York City, and wow was it memorable. David Lee Roth was the singer FYI. I knew all of Van Halen's hits, and... |

How The Public Views Anime- What, You Mean Like Pokemon? *sigh*---Anime 101
By the_punisher 07-27-2009 11:21 PM
|
|
The average american has no idea what anime is. They may have never even heard of the word, or know what the hell you're talking about. If on the off-chance that they do, it's usually a retarded response, like "You mean like Pokemon? It's for 2 year olds." My dad still believes that anime is Speed Racer, and one of my friends continues to compare it to Pokemon and Dragonball Z. And y'know, it bothers me, but then again , i was the exact same way.
![]() ShadowMasterX had something on his tradelist i wanted, and i noticed he had the entire FullMetal Alchemist collection on there too. The price was around $150 or so, and so i made fun of him for thinking that anyone would pay $150 for some crappy cartoon. Just like everyone around me, i was picturing Pokemon. He did not stand for this, and talked to me for hours about what anime really is. For those that don't... |

Do You Enjoy Your Job? How Do You Match Interests With A Career?
By the_punisher 07-22-2009 10:00 PM

Because I would say that, while it's technically an internship, I do not enjoy my job. True, i sit at a desk and technically have limitless access to the internet, but it's just not something that i could possibly do for my entire life. I don't want to go into too much detail about it since, well, it's confidential, but i pretty much do research on websites and write reports all day. The only problem is that i have no motivation, and i'm just plain bored out of my mind.
![]() But that's enough about me. I'm wondering how you guys chose whatever it is you do, and whether you actually enjoy it. I understand that there'll be plenty of you who probably work wherever you do regardless of whether you enjoy it or not. Let's face it, it's a recession, and for some people it's enough to just have a job. I understand. But, for those people, what would you want to do? I don't mean run Walmart and have... |

Going to College 360-Less? HOW WILL I SURVIVE? I KENT PLAI TEH HALOZ!?!? O NOEZ!

Yes, it's true, i had to decide between bringing both my PS3 and 360, my PS3, or my 360, but in the end, i really only need my PS3. I honestly haven't turned on my 360 in almost two months (except to try Ninja Blade and dark Sector, both of which weren't worth turning it back on), and as sad i am to say it, I really don't need it there. I'm leaving August 17th, which means i just miss Shadow Complex, but that's one of the few things i'm actually going to miss.
![]() There is one thing that i'm really going to miss, although i really shouldn't need to spell it out. I absolutely love the Halo franchise, as much as some of you may dislike it. I heard from Joystiq that th series turned 10 today, and that made me feel sorta old |

, is it awesome.
