Goodbye, Old Friend.

By jr233270 03-14-2013 05:11 PM
My 60 GB launch PS3 got the YLOD this week. Even worse, I had just purchased MLB 13 The Show and the system seemingly ate the disc along with my hopes and dreams of winning the World Series with the Cubs this year.

Now, instead of having the system reflown/reballed, or whatever it's called, I took the system apart, opened up the blu ray drive, and retrieved my disc. Now, the question is whether I invest in a new PS3 or just give up on PS3 gaming. I have many games, including new releases such as Ni No Kuni, Far Cry 3, Black Ops 2, and the aforementioned MLB 13 The Show with game saves that were dozens of hours deep into the story/campaign/multiplayer/etc. I honestly don't feel like replaying any of the campaigns right now.

Has anyone else had this feeling? What did you do? If you chose to give up on the system, did you later regret it? I have a 360, a Wii U, and a PC so I still have many other platforms to game on so it isn't like I'd be giving up altogether....

I think I made a mistake (albeit a good one?)

As I'm sure my fellow Wii U console owners know, the games have not exactly been rolling in on a weekly basis the past few months. With that in mind, I looked at the upcoming release schedule and there are quite a few good games coming out next week.

I had some Gamestop credit so I went to the store today and did some damage. I pre-ordered, and paid in full, for the following games:

Lego City Undercover
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Need for Speed Most Wanted U

The problem is that all three of these games come out on Tuesday. I know I could've saved a lot of money by simply picking one of the games and buying it on release day and waiting for drops on the others, but I really didn't want to. Too many games to play in one day, you say? I'm taking off work for a few days next week so if anybody is looking for me, well, you know where I'll be.

Spoiler Alert: In my basement with my Wii U, three new games,...

How I discovered CAG

By jr233270 12-05-2012 05:04 PM
I joined this site five years ago but I actually discovered it in August of that year and just lurched in the shadows for a few months.

It was the week before Bioshock launched in August 2007 and I stumbled across a link on google that said Bioshock's street date had been broken by Toys R Us. I clicked the link and it brought me to the CAG forums. The link said something about the street date being broken and "YMMV". "YMMV?," I asked myself. What the hell did that mean?

Anyway, I jumped in my car and drove to the closest Toys R Us and asked about Bioshock. I was surprised when the clerk said that Bioshock was available. I bought myself a copy and one for my friend and we played the game and beat it. Ever since then I have been actively checking the forums and posting on CAG.

That's the story of how I found CAG. I guess I'm feeling a bit nostalgic since I just checked my feedback history after my most recent trade, and even...
