Forbes: “Sony in Big Trouble with PS Vita”
By mike.m 12-30-2011 09:33 PM
|
![]() Forbes’ Tero Kuittinen says in his latest article, flat out, “Sony in big trouble with PS Vita.” Things aren’t looking so good for Sony’s new handheld in Japan, which is rather shocking considering how well the PSP was supported there versus North America. The recent Japanese launch showed promising numbers of 320,000 units sold. They’ve tanked since with just 72,000 units sold in the second week. Ouch. Nintendo knows the same kind of pain with the 2011 debacle that was the 3DS release. Nintendo sold through 370,000 units in its first week, but sales dropped to 210,000 the following week causing Nintendo to bite the bullet and slash prices on the 3DS. The price cut and the timing of some big releases helped turn around the sinking ship that was the 3DS, preventing it from becoming an albatross. Read on at Addicted-Gamers.com |

Addicted-Gamers: The King of Fighters XIII Xbox 360 Review – Still Down With The King
By mike.m 12-08-2011 09:56 AM
|
![]() Publisher: Atlus – NA, Rising Star Games – EU, SNK Playmore – JP Developer: SNK Playmore Genre: Fighting Players: Single, Online Multiplayer Release Date: Nov. 22, 2011 Rated: T – Teen Long ago, when luxuries such as high-speed internet and online gaming did not exist, man would assemble at local arcades and bowling allies. There they would spend hard earned coin on various fighting games, battling for hours, enduring body odor, drunken idiots, and hardcore competition to prove who would walk away with glory and reign supreme on any given night. While the masses huddled around the Street Fighters, Mortal Kombats, Tekkens, or Versus games, the eclectic gamers would be tucked away in the darker corners, honing their craft on the venerable Neo-Geo with games like Samurai Shodown, Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, and the original team-up fighter, The King |

The Dark Knight Rises will apparently be the end of the Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale era for the Batman. Read more at Addicted-Gamers.com |

Addicted-Gamers: Xenoblade Chronicles Nintendo Wii Review
By mike.m 11-06-2011 05:20 PM
|
![]() Xenoblade Chronicles is Monolith Soft’s shining swansong role-playing game that proves it is still possible to make a traditional RPG with a back to roots approach yet still able to deliver on the ideals of the genre; a compelling, grandiose story, likable characters, the lost art of exploration, and familiar but refined gameplay. Xenoblade Chronicles does not break the mold nor does it reinvent the endangered genre of the Japanese RPG (JRPG). It takes that mold and crafts something that has rarely been seen in this current generation of video gaming, one of the finest RPG experiences on the Wii or any console this generation. You know where to go for the rest. Addicted-Gamers.com |

Press Start is a new introspective column on gaming, life, and recovery. Periodically I want to bring something more to the table than a standard gaming preview or review. While it is true that I don’t want to preach recovery, if you, the reader, get anything out of this then it is completely worth it to me. If you don’t, I understand. Read the first one. Gears of War 3 Review – Rev Up Your Lancer One Last Time
By mike.m 09-26-2011 11:51 AM
|
![]() It’s finally over. Gears of War 3 closes out a saga that really has helped define this generation of console gaming and establish the Xbox 360 with one of its few untouchable exclusives. Gears brought machismo, bravado, violence, bromance and a story of hopelessness that nothing could possibly replicate. It’s a bittersweet ending because I don’t want it to be over. As they say though, all good things must come to an end. I wasn’t sure that I wanted to do this review. I’m not objective when it comes to Gears of War. I have loved everything about it. Alas, it is time to rev my Lancer one final time. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Right? Read the rest at Addicted Gamers. |

Catherine Playstation 3 Review – Can Love Exist Without Pain?
By mike.m 09-12-2011 09:56 AM
|
|
Catherine the woman is a young, sexy, and virile temptress.
Catherine the game is a challenging, quirky, thought-provoking, sexually charged experience packaged in one part relationship sim and one part puzzler that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before in US gaming. The Japanese have always loved their dating and love sims. They’ve blended genres with many popular games and though we usually don’t see many of these come our way, I firmly believe that we are lucky to have companies like Atlus who have made a reputation on bring us the overlooked and obscure games. Catherine the game (not the woman) is so intriguing that it can be easy to overlook the blemishes, but it is so worth playing if for nothing else, for its superior block manipulating gameplay or the fascinating drama revolving around the tug of war for Vincent’s heart and soul. As always, read the rest at Addicted Gamers: Catherine Playstation 3 Review |

Addicted Gamers Weekend Update With LA Noire 360 Review
By mike.m 09-05-2011 11:51 PM
|
|
L.A. Noire is an extraordinary piece of work that is as much interactive cinema at times as it is a video game. The now defunct Team Bondi and Rockstar have created a game that uses groundbreaking MotionScan technology to create characters that are so alive with detail that you can see every little animation in their faces. It is 1947 and you will take on the role of Cole Phelps in the LAPD and solve cases in a faithfully recreated downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood. The action, story, and pacing are all methodical. You won’t be running and gunning anyone and everyone down like you could in Grand Theft Auto or Red Dead Redemption. You’re a good cop stuck in a seedy, corrupted city. Therefore, you are not given choices for good and evil. You will find clues, interview people, judge their answers in questioning and occasionally get into car chases or firefights. L.A. Noire is open-world sandbox, but there are restrictions. Every character is a unique and individually acted...

My son and I put a couple of videos up on YouTube. Since Black Ops and Street Fighter III Third Strike allow for uploads and I know a bunch of you guys here have videos, if you want to share some, go for it, and maybe I'll even post them on my site. I would especially love to see some SFIII videos, I'm actually enjoying watching the competition and learning some new tricks.
