Ebay?? FORGET ebay. My lowball will beat 'em all. |
|
HOLY SHATNER - I'm throwing a huge lowball. There's 200+ items up for bids so grab them while you can! It'll end Wednesday the 28th at 8:00 PM PST so come on by! LOTS of good stuff - Atlus titles, PS2 RPG's, SNES RPG's, pretty much every system has at least something up for grabs. Come take a look! (Click on the frenzied shoppers to get inside!) *Strell did the same thing (promoting his lowball in his blog), so I'm pretty sure it's okay, right mods?* |

Someone give this man a job!

I'd pay good money to see this guy do the entire soundtrack for an independent game release. Something on PSN or XBLA would be perfect. |

As much as I look forward to Shimrra's Daily HaHa, he's on vacation. I thought I'd post some stuff in his absence (with his approval of course!). Have a great day CAG!

My auction of the DECADE!!
By punkmaggit 08-03-2009 10:27 AM

.... or how I won the English version of Terranigma, a homemade Star Ocean cartridge, and the PAL SNES to play them on!!!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT I couldn't believe it when I saw it, and I knew I just had to have it. My wife was very supportive and knew how much it meant to me. She actually sat down and watched the last half-hour of the auction with me! Luckily, I've already sold enough stuff on ebay to pay for the item. The chance to finally play Terranigma the way it was meant to be played. Finally crossed off the things to do in my lifetime! |

The best band nobody's heard (except for you).

I'm sure everyone has one or two groups that they absolutely adore, but no one else seems to know about/acknowledge. This is one of them.
Liars Inc. ![]() Abysmal cover art aside, they're a really good band. There's only one video of them that exists on youtube. Coincidentally, it's a song from their second album which never saw the light of day!! There's no wikipedia article and very very few websites about them. Back in 1999 they released their first album "Superjaded" which had a few radio hits, namely "After I Begin" and "Anybody". I knew they were played for awhile on our local station 107.5 (back when I listened to the radio!). Great rock. Straight-up. Unfortunately their drummer left (I believe) and was actually replaced with Atom (Angels and Airwaves, Rocket... |

Riz-Zoawd (JRPG meets the Wizard of Oz?? AWESOME!!)
By punkmaggit 01-13-2009 12:35 PM
|
|
So I'm almost through with FFVI on the DS (HO-LEE
is that last dungeon hard!!) and there's this little title that's been calling my name for awhile now: Doesn't that look absolutely gorgeous? It's a JRPG take on the ageless classic "The Wizard of Oz" (if you couldn't tell). The battles are first-person view (a la Etrian Odyssey) and the "dungeons" have a track-ball system where you use your stylus to control Dorothy and Toto :3 Here's the official site: http://www.d3p.co.jp/riz/ There's a plethora of cool stuff like wallpapers and even a screensaver for those inclined to download them. Watch the videos. They're great. What gets me the most excited is how well the art style and music comes together. The soundtrack was composed by one of the best, Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII, Valkyria Chronicles), and the theme song... |

Let me tell you about my favourite Gamestop
By punkmaggit 12-18-2008 03:21 PM
|
|
My favorite Gamestop. Kinda in a bad neighborhood (try not to go after the sun goes down), further away from another GS, but it's the employees there that keep me coming back.
First of all, I'm on a first-name basis with the manager. He's in' awesome. Any penny guides drop? He's got 'em waiting for me. Trading in any games? Don't worry about the refurb fees. Awesome. That's only the tip of the iceberg. Because it's in a less-reputable part of town, they have all the rare games/RPG's since no one else wants them. The employees are a pleasure to talk to and know their stuff quite extensively. On numerous occasions I've taken my daughter who's not quite 3 there ("Going to Gamestop to look for games?" she asks me everytime I've been putting off... |

I'm no longer buying used games.
By punkmaggit 12-04-2008 11:40 AM
|
|
So it just hit me yesterday that buying a
-ton of used games at Gamestop doesn't really do anything but help GS (and maybe myself to some cheap games), but what about the publishers and developers? As of now, I'm going to try to buy nothing but new games to support those who really put their hearts and souls into the games they develop (and you know what? If it sucks I'll just trade it back into GS or GC for credit towards another NEW purchase). But here's my conundrum, if I buy a game on clearance, does any of that money trickle back to the companies responsible? And what about price drops? I know GS makes about $6-$10 profit on the new games sold, but say when a $60 game drops to $30 in about a week or two (I'm looking at you Legendary) would Sucker-Punch still make money? Another big one are Amazon deals. Say I picked up DQIV when it was Amazon's DotD at $20. You can't tell me that a $20 difference doesn't screw someone out of their monies. So who eats... |

Transformers, the movie
By punkmaggit 07-14-2008 03:32 PM
|
|
So, as woefully out of date the two of us are, we finally borrowed Transformers from a friend and sat down to watch it. I had already seen it with a friend, so I knew what to expect, but my wife... the poor thing. It was about 5 minutes into the movie and she said "Where's the damned Transformers?!?!" followed immediately by "FINALLY." I had remarked to her that it wasn't going to be the last time she said the word "finally", and she ended up proving me right when, after AN HOUR into the movie, we finally see Optimus Prime.
I was playing my DS (FFTA2, which was, in all fairness, alot cooler than the movie) and eventually my wife just turned off the movie. "I can only take so many bad one-liners!! It's like Starship Troopers bad." |

Best Day Evar?!
By punkmaggit 07-02-2008 06:02 PM

Still revelling from the newly designed CAG 2.0, and now there's blogs to take up more time on this site?!
A certain 2.40 firmware is calling my name when I get home, but all this talk of machines breaking down makes me a little skeptic. I'm not pining for the firmware so the waiting game sounds appropriate for now. CHRONO TRIGGER DS?!? Are you serious?! The defining moment of the SNES (although Terranigma comes in a close second) available to play (legally) on-the-go? I'm SO there! This game holds a special place in our family's legacy anyways, so I'll most definitely be picking up at least 3 copies: one for me, one for teh wifez0r, & one to enshrine |
