Fable 2 - the game is finish! - the purple orbs, which are you friends playing their game, can be invited into your game when you come across them at anytime, no lobbies. The game will be out in october.
Fallout 3 - Looks like a lot of fun. Lots of weapons and variation. The shooting/combat mechanic looks very nice. Resident Evil 5 - the Online co-op was demoed and looks very good for co-op fans. Gears of War 2 - a competent sequel to the first game that will not disappoint fans and newcomers to the series. 5 player co-op announced with new game modes. Microsoft is throwing out some stats so show they are "the best". NBC-Universal have been announced as partners ... bringing more content to Xbox Live. (battlestar!!!) MGM international and Constantine for europe. The new dashboard is now the rumored 3D interface. (this comes out this fall). It looks alright, the system... |

Alone in the Dark - What went wrong. |
|
Atari hopes were riding on the success of Alone in the Dark ... and was so far been released is the disappointment of the year by far. Alone in the Dark is honestly something that should hardly be called a real video game. Its baseline idea was good and something nice to go on, but obviously the game was too many problems.
So what exactly went wrong? Well, with Alone in the Dark, Atari was seeking to reestablish itself as a real video game developer after years of setbacks and disapointments. Atari wanted to create a triple-A title and failed miseably. The primary reason is that they simply took on a project that was too ambitious. Why in the world did this game need to be released on 5 platforms (4 at the same time ...)? The fact alone that the PS3 version had to be pushed back showed that they were clearly incapable of a quality multi platform release. Maybe Infinity Ward can do that, but they are experienced developers too with HUGE financial backing from... |

PS3 harddrive install explained.

Ok i a posted a blog about games that require hard drive installs and how 4 to 5 games can take up as much as half of your space if you have a 40 gig PS3 ...
Well there was some why do they have to do this comments to my blog so here is a video a made some time ago to help explain this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXJSQIbSiss To go a bit further, Usually EA games so far don't require an install. Burnout or COD4 on the PS3 don't need an install. Different developers take different routes. Honestly Sony gives developers to much freedom to decide on what to do. Sony would also never admit to saying their suppposed superior blu-ray drive actually reads slower than the inferior DVD in the xbox. Its honestly just newer Tech and of course, expensive. The PS3 in my opinion is not inferior in any way to the Xbox, it just has to do things a bit different. Also, the DVD only reads at 8X in the ps3, so just putting games on DVD for the PS3 would... |

Ok, in continuance with my general belief that Sony gives too much freedom to developers when making games on the PS3 ... hard drive installs are the big back ugly problem that are going to become an issue for power users here soon.
Here is a running list of games that require hard drive installs on the PS3 ... Assassin's Creed--------(Required) 1.3Gb Devil May Cry 4--------(Required) 4.83 GB Dark Sector ------------(Required) 1.2 GB Dynasty Warriors 6-----(Optional) 1.86GB Eye of Judgement---------(Required) 1.9GB Folklore-------------------(Optional) 1.04GB GTA IV-------------------(Required) 3.3 GB GT5 Prologue-----------(Required) 5.24GB Genji: Days of Blade---(Optional) 2.14GB Haze --------------------(Required) 4.0 GB Hot Shots Golf 5 - ------(Required) 3.61Gb Heavenly Sword--------(Required) 2.1GB Medal Of Honor:Airborne-(Required) 1.95 GB Metal Gear Solid 4-----(Required)... |

PSN 2.4 ... yes you may not have it but I do lol |
|
Anyway, i thought it would be fun to post my thoughts about the new update to the PSN ... and the few things that were noticeably missing (cross game invites for one).
At any rate, the updated profiles are nice and I think i like the idea of a tiered achievement ... i mean trophy system. Its really a good way to differentiate themselves from Xbox 360 and perhaps focus more on the achievement ... i mean trophy ... and not the raw gamerscore ... i mean level. At any rate, in game cross media bar is a welcome addition to my PS3. I still wish i could use the camera to take pictures while in the game like i can on xbox ... perhaps that's not too big of a deal and could be added in the future. (unlikely considering you have to go into a program to use the PSeye). Anyway. lets move on ... i hope they get the 2.4 back up (it will probably be 2.41) and everyone can start enjoying it. Its not everything but its most of what we asked for. Hopefully the rumored... |
