Finally posting my Christmas Pick-Ups & Lots more buys (Some Kingdom Hearts love)
By The Mana Knight 01-02-2010 05:05 PM
All right, I kept delaying this blog entry because I didn't want to post anything until I opened up all my Christmas presents (when I traveled home to visit my parents), and I was awaiting for some packages to arrive. LOTS of pics posted.
Anyway, these are pictures of what I got on Christmas Day: Basically, I ended up getting: Kohl's Gift Card $50 (from my Mom) Macy's Gift Card $75 (from my Mom) New Super Mario Bros. Wii (from my Mom) Nike Sweat Pants Gray (from my Mom) PlayStation Lounge Pants (from my Mom) We Love Golf (from my Sister & her fiancee) Wii Sports Resort (from my Sister & her fiancee) The games my sister got me for Wii, I definitely didn't ask for, but she's obsessed with Wii Sports Resort and badly wanted me to have it too. Might be the last time I make my Christmas list so open. Also I ended up getting another... |

Mana Knight's 2010 New Year's Resolutions
By The Mana Knight 01-01-2010 01:53 PM
Exactly one year later, I'm creating a another New Year's Resolution blog. Last year was probably some of the biggest resolutions I made. I ended up accomplishing all but one (no girlfriend yet. I have yet to get my own CC, but I do have a shared one at least). Getting a job, moving out, and making lots of new friends (and going out a little more) were HUGE accomplishments IMO. In 2008, I accomplished my goals of at least getting a full driver's license (passing the test) and graduating college. After many of these big accomplishments, it's actually very hard for me to come up with New Year's Resolutions this year, but here I go.
1. Figure out my future This resolution has the smallest percentage change of happening in 2010, but it's really the biggest thing on my mind. While I have a pretty good job right now and really like the area I live in, I'm still trying to decide whether this should be short term or long term. I hate to discuss too much stuff... |

Took my first airplane ride alone (visited family for the first time since June 09)
By The Mana Knight 12-31-2009 06:14 PM
It's kind of crazy I went a bunch of days without blogging. I ended up flying to where I last lived to visit family. In case you all didn't know, I haven't seen my Mom and sister since June 09. I kind of wanted to drive to visit them, but due to the possibility of bad weather, I ended up booking a flight. While I could have tried to be home for Christmas, the flight would have been pricey, so I waited until after Christmas (going from Monday to Thursday). The flight was only $150 round trip. I mostly went home because my family really bugged me badly about coming back to visit them, although I honestly didn't want to go back. I'll talk about the story about what happened when leaving, back where I last lived for many years, and my experience heading back home. Previous flights, I went with a family member or two. This time, I was all alone taking care of everything myself.
So my flight was leaving just after 10:30am on Monday. I decided to leave at 7:30am so I'd... |

Reasons I'm still a virgin and NEVER had a girlfriend/relationship |
I've been meaning to blog a similar subject as The_Grimace, but I keep putting it off. I'm going to explain the main reasons why I haven't had a girl and I just can't figure it all out yet. Like I said before, I've never been laid, kissed, etc. to a girl. The only thing I've done with girls is hug.
1. Rarely around girls This is the biggest reason I've always been single, I'm rarely around girls. Ever since high school, I was mostly around guys and not around girls much. I was a major in Electrical & Computer Engineering Tech in college, and we probably had around 10-15 girls total in the major, out of around 300-400 people. My college I went to was just over 60% males (due to mostly being Engineering, Technology, etc. majors). I had many classes with no girls. So basically at my college, it became quite hard finding a girl due to more men around. Outside of class, the activities I was interested in were more so guy related, such as fighting... |

Spending Christmas Day Alone
By The Mana Knight 12-25-2009 08:45 AM
Just like my Thanksgiving, I'll be spending my Christmas done alone in my apartment, no family around. This is the first December 25th I won't be opening a single present. I did get to look at my Christmas tree today with the lights on, but that's about it.
The main reason I'm spending Christmas alone is because my last day of work wasn't until December 23rd, flight tickets for December 24th were VERY expensive, and driving home (to my parents house) probably wouldn't have been good to plan for due to snow/bad weather. This doesn't mean I won't have a Christmas Day/Dinner, it will just be pushed back because I plan to visit my family in the not so distant future (already bought plane tickets round trip) and open up presents/have Christmas dinner then. I considered wrapping things I bought myself, but due to being snowed in and stuff, I never bothered to buy wrapping paper. Previously I would get many games and other things for Christmas, but after... |

Cell phone decision, stick with family or get my own plan
By The Mana Knight 12-24-2009 03:17 PM
Well, I'm going to be 100% honest that the only bill I currently don't pay is my cell phone. The reason is my entire family has been on a plan together where I'm just one of the lines (not the primary line). For many years my Dad was paying for it because he got a good discount due to being a retired Verizon employee (he worked there for many years). At one point when my sister worked at Verizon Wireless, the plan was under her name where we got a different discount (which was much larger). I continued to stick with the plan because I wasn't working and I didn't really use my cell phone much.
The situation now is a bit different where I have a job, my work gets discounts on Verizon and AT&T phones/bills (although not as good as my Dad or sister got). I'm holding off a new cell phone because I'm trying to decide if I should continue to be on the same plan as my family, or just get my own plan. I'll explain the positives and negatives of each. While... |

Things I hate about drinks at restaurants (along with other drink weirds)
By The Mana Knight 12-23-2009 05:40 PM
Well, whenever I go to fast food places or restaurants, I tend to buy some sort of combo meal that comes with a drink. Well, I do enjoy the taste of fountain drinks (unlike my Dad who hates fountain drinks), but there's one thing that ruins the taste of them. I absolutely hate it when they put WAY too much ice in my drink. I don't care if its hot outside, I just hate it when they put too much ice. I hate having too much ice because it gives me very little soda/pop to drink, so I end up getting thirsty quick. I also have to drink my soda/pop quite fast or the ice will melt. IMO, the taste of ice cubes melted and sofa/pop (especially with Pepsi) tastes nasty. I normally end up throwing my drink away after that. I probably should order a drink with no ice when I'm out, but I start to think they'll think I'm weird if I request it. That's why I tend to love fast food places where I can make my own drink (where I put in very little ice and tons of soda/pop). At restaurants, the more...

Glassses or Contacts, which to go with (considering getting eyes checked)
By The Mana Knight 12-22-2009 05:19 PM
This topic is now on my mind due to a situation at work. Over a year ago I started a blog entry on whether I should get my eyes checked or not. At the time I just couldn't do it due to lacking insurance, money, and so on. Currently I'm paying $0.44 out of my weekly paycheck for vision insurance, but I have yet to ever use it. Basically, it brings an eye exam down to $10 co pay, takes off $120 off of frames (lenses are free I believe) or $110 off of contacts.
It all started when one of my co-workers (one who I went to a bar/nightclub with) said I probably need medication for how crazy I am at times (well, I'm just a little too excited to be there at work at times). I said you think I'd actually do that, when I've continuously avoided getting my eyes checked after all these years. He's like why don't I get my eyes checked, and discussed about how he recently saw a doctor nearby (due to having an eye issue with his contacts). He mentioned how the insurance helped a bit... |

Why am I not so bothered being alone all the time (going places alone)?
By The Mana Knight 12-21-2009 08:37 PM
Well, I'm starting this blog after a recent AIM conversation I had with the_grimace. While we tend to be similar in many ways, we tend to have one major difference between us. He doesn't feel too comfortable going at it alone to places, while I tend to have no issues with it and will do it. This could easily be a really long blog by me, but due to limited time and not really feeling the mood to write a lot, I'll keep this on the shorter end.
When it comes to going to the mall, I always go alone. I know most people tend to go to the mall with friends or a group of people, but I've always gone alone. I honestly can't remember if I ever went to a mall with someone. Its not like I rarely go to malls, because I'm constantly out going to malls (already visted around 6-8 since I moved to my new area, and still plan to visit many more). As for the movies, I constantly hear people discuss about going with a group of people. While I rarely go to the movies (I... |

My Pick-Ups before Christmas (didn't spoil myself this time, but some cool stuff)
By The Mana Knight 12-18-2009 05:32 PM
Compared to my other pick-up blog entries, this one will seem like nothing. The reason for fewer pick-ups is because I worked 19 days in a row, so I had less time to shop around. Also, due to spending a lot near Black Friday (on TV, Sofa, and Laptop), I felt it was time to cut back. Also, I pretty much bought almost every game I really wanted, so decided to mostly save and buy some interesting stuff. Anyway, this is what I got.
12 month XBL card & Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (360) PlayStation and MW2 lounge pants, 1600 MS points Uncharted 2 and MW2 T-Shirts, $50 PSN Card As for non-gaming stuff, I went out and bought a football jersey to my favorite team due to a good sale (been wanting to buy a jersey for a while). The hat in the picture, I got a month ago, but felt it looked great with the jersey (which I'm currently wearing as I type this). ... |

I don't like leftovers (prefer food fresh) |
I can't say why I'm in the mood for food related blogs, but I'll discuss another weird I have when it comes to food. I absolutely despise leftovers. I bring this up because many ask why don't I just make a lot of food, then eat it again for lunch or another day. It's because I just don't like leftovers, and I'll explain my issues with them. I also prefer food fresh, and I'll discuss it throughout this blog.
When I cook food or have food cooked for me, I want just enough that I can eat in one sitting. I prefer to have my food hot, right when it finishes cooking. I don't mind if I burn my mouth a little, I just really like hot food. While I have a microwave, I do not like heating up leftovers in it. The food just doesn't taste the same leftover and it tends to feel hot/cold when I have it. I know people tend to eat Pizza, Spaghetti, and other things as leftovers, but not me. The only thing I don't mind as much as a leftover is Thanksgiving turkey, but I definitely... |

Anyone else dislike different food touching each other on the same plate?
By The Mana Knight 12-16-2009 09:10 PM
While most of my recent blogs show me turning into a more normal person, I'm going to take a step back and admit one strange thing about me.
For a while, I thought I was the only person in the world who hated different food touching each other on the same plate, but I found out one of my best friends online was the same way, along with my co-worker's nephew. Some might wonder what am I talking about right here? Basically, you are fixing a plate of food for Thanksgiving. Someone places rice, turkey, greens, dinner roll, etc. on the same plate. And when they move the plate around, food may overlap and fall on top of each other. For many years, having various foods touch each other on the same plate disgusts me. I can't explain why, but it does. Its like it alters the taste of the food, or appearance of the food (like make it soggy, add crumbs to it, etc.). That is why when I my parents were putting food on my plate or myself, I'd place everything on separate plates.... |

Mana Knight stayed out until 1am on Friday night (the story)
By The Mana Knight 12-12-2009 03:50 PM
Well, some of you may remember I created a blog entry asking if I should go out to a bar/nightclub, well, I ended up actually doing this on Friday (last night). No, NONE of this took place in a video game in case you were wondering and this was NOT a dream.
Two of my co-worker friends said they were going to take me out on Friday night. The truth is despite making my blog, I kind of wanted to chicken out since I was doing too many new things at once. The two co-workers were close to my age (23 and 26), one lived in the area for over a year, while the other moved there around 2 months ago and hasn't been out to places in the area (but loves hanging out at nightclubs and stuff). My co-workers told me I was going no matter what, especially since one changed his plans to see his girlfriend another day since he badly wanted me to go out and stuff (plus he wanted to do stuff in the area for the first time). They also found many ways of talking me out of driving myself (because... |

Should Mana Knight take the chance and go out one night to a nightclub, bar, etc.?
By The Mana Knight 12-08-2009 05:26 PM
Many of you might remember my blog I made ranting about how much I disliked the idea of bars, nightclubs, strip clubs, etc. That was long ago and times have changed. I want to explain the recent situation which I'm somewhat torn on, but leaning towards going.
All right, my co-workers know how I am. They know I love to play video games, consider me the most geeked out compared to them all (most play games too, although not as big into them as me), and pretty much know how I am (basically how I've explained in many blog entries). They really want to change that somewhat, by getting me out to a nightclub, maybe a bar, and so on. They badly want me to go out and experience new things, such as having a bunch of girls come up to me (well, places where girls definitely are), staying out late (to maybe around 1am or later), and so on. They would love me to take a small drink, but they said I wouldn't have to the first time. My co-workers are definitely trying to push me to... |

First Snow/Ice of the Season
By The Mana Knight 12-06-2009 08:36 AM
On Friday I was asked if I was willing to work during the weekend. When we say we are willing to work the weekend, normally we'd come in on Saturday, and sometimes on Sunday. We can't come in on Sunday instead of Saturday because we get paid more to work on Sunday (we have to work Saturday first to get Sunday's pay). I ended up accepting the offer and came in on Saturday. I really needed to make extra money after all that I spent in my previous pick-up blog post. It was very good I came in on Saturday since I was really needed. I heard there might be some snow flurries later in the day, so I felt it would probably happen when I was heading home. Well, one of my co-workers took a break to smoke outside, he tells me its snowing like crazy outside. I barely believed him because he happens to be from the south. I took a step outside and while I've seen much worse snow before (from where I come from), it was more than I expected. I cringed on having to drive home, but I did (worked...

Spoiled Myself Again (BF Weekend Pick-Ups) & Various Game Impressions/Thoughts |
People may remember how I made a blog asking whether I should get a desktop or laptop, then I made another blog asking about a little laptop help. Well, I finally bought the laptop on Black Friday along with many other things. I apologize for some crap pictures since my camera sucks.
Just before Thanksgiving, I ended up buying 4 $20 PSN Cards so I could purchase LittleBigPlanet and Tekken 6 on PSP through the PS Store. NBA Live 10 was purchased on Black Friday at Best Buy. My friend convinced me to order some movies from Amazon.com (on Thanksgiving), so I did along with a Dual Shock 3 controller in red, which hasn't arrived since it was shipping from Phoenix, AZ. On Black Friday, I decided to go to a crazy busy mall and ended up finding this T-Shirt for $4.94 in my size. Saturday I did grocery shopping so I avoided making purchases. However on Sunday, I decided... |

Oh my, there's a fire...
By The Mana Knight 12-01-2009 07:24 PM
Yes, there seems to be a fire at my apartment right now. I'm typing this as the fire alarm is going off. I was just starting to eat my dinner and I heard some loud alarm noise. Well, there are four apartments on my floor, and it appears the one diagonally from me just had its oven catch on fire. The fire alarm is going off loudly. My neighbor rushed to another neighbor of mine to use the phone to call the fire department. Just as all of this happened, my UPS package arrived which I'll discuss in another blog shortly. A few minutes later, fireman arrive rushing up the stairs with a hose and stuff (I live on the top floor). I could hear some screaming and trying to put out the fire. Thankfully, the fire doesn't seem to be all that serious, just in a small area inside an apartment. I can definitely smell smoke inside my apartment right now.
Just as I'm finishing this, the fire alarm finally went off and it seems like things were taken care of. Regardless, this was... |

People would say I was the whitest black guy they knew
By The Mana Knight 11-29-2009 02:14 PM

This blog will be a little different from my other blogs. I completely apologize if anyone is offended by anything said here (or doesn’t feel comfortable reading about this subject), but this has been something I’ve been dealing with for a very long time and really feel the need to talk about it. This has been going on for around 12 years.
I will start out by saying that I’m the type of person who likes/respect all races, doesn’t hold any grudge or anything against any of them. The only time I have a grudge against someone is how they act or if they treat me badly. I also don’t like to stereotype people by race thinking if someone is X race; they will be into this and not like this. I rather just think of everyone as the same no matter what their race, religion, culture, etc. is. Going back to my situation, I’d say I didn’t really know much about races until I was around 9 years old. I actually didn’t know anything about any kind of division; I just... |

Good Black Friday & Christmas Shopping
By The Mana Knight 11-27-2009 05:50 PM
The reason for my current blog title is because I'm trying to make it like my last years Black Friday blog entry. Last year it was terrible because stores ran out of what I wanted and just my whole day was bad. This year, my Black Friday was mostly good. Compared to last year, I'm living in a new area, going to different locations of stores, ordering online more so than B&M, and I'm shopping alone on Black Friday (unlike previous years where I had a family member with me).
I did order a few things online yesterday. I ended up ordering Ghostbusters and The Matrix on Blu-ray yesterday along with a Dual Shock 3 controller in red. All came from Amazon. I considered buying other games online such as Pure, but I really don't need the game. I ended up getting The Matrix since friends of mine were convincing me on AIM to buy it for $12.99. I've never seen The Matrix before, but I see it appealing to me. One friend tried to get me to order a bunch of other movies, but... |

First Thanksgiving with no turkey, all alone today
By The Mana Knight 11-26-2009 08:19 AM
Well, I decided to start up a blog about what's going on today on my Thanksgiving. I doubt many will read this (or really care about this) since most are probably spending time with the family.
Now that I moved out of the house and live away from my parents, the Holidays will be much different this time around. Previous years for Thanksgiving, I got off from college after Tuesday and it would be a short ride home. Mostly Thanksgivings were just my Mom, Dad, Sister, pets, and I together (no other family over, since we lived far away from our relatives). This year things are quite different. My older sister doesn't live at my parents house anymore and is more likely to spend Thanksgiving with her fiancee's family (or her friends family). I live away from my parents (around 9-10 hours). It was a difficult decision on whether to come home or not, but I opted not to. I wasn't getting off of work until 3:30pm on Wednesday (I couldn't take off since my paid vacations... |
