Where to take a girl out the first time (gained confidence in asking girls out)?

By The Mana Knight 10-28-2010 05:07 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 10-28-2010 06:54 PM
I'll finally blog about a recent change in myself. I have a feeling my co-workers will see this blog discussing it (we already kind of discussed the subject at work a little). While I rather keep this kind of secret, I kind of feel the need to share just a little bit about this (Any date I have experience will never be discussed anywhere).

To be honest, I never actually asked a girl out since high school. Getting turned down MANY times put me in a massive train wreck where I just didn't want to go through it again. In college, I was quite wrapped up in all the work I had to do, didn't have much money, and didn't have too many girls at my college (my college was under 40% girls). So I never bothered to ask. I still never bothered to really ask outside of college. Just recent, I decided why don't I ask someone I know (to go out with me at least once) because I felt guaranteed to get rejected. I felt rejection would be good because at least I'll have that feeling, then...

Ugh, people like to blame me for everything (happens at work a lot)

By The Mana Knight 10-25-2010 09:00 PM
Well, I got another blog to write about something that bugs me. I know VERY well that certain people I know will be reading this blog and laughing really hard at me, but oh well. Honestly, this will be a short blog because I can't think of everything off the top of my head.

Anyway, one reason I hate going into work sometimes is because it seems like the blame is ALWAYS put on me whenever something unusual happens or something goes wrong. For an example, it's very common for the printers to break where we can't print anything. Whenever the printer is break, everyone likes to say I did it, or it's all my fault for it not working. Never does the blame get put on anyone else, always me. Sometimes I'm the last one to print when it happens, but a bunch of times I didn't even touch the printer (such as when I printed .pdf files and oh course they take longer to print compared to some items). When the power flicked at work today, the blame got put on me thinking I did something...

Ugh, family issues (relates to my Dad buying my sister a house)

By The Mana Knight 10-24-2010 06:37 PM
All right, I'm not going to write as long as I could about this subject because I have a bunch of things to do tonight, but I really want to get this anger out of my chest. Basically, from what my sister said when talking to her on the phone, it seems like my Dad might buy her and her new husband a house. I already blogged a while ago about how my sister was like. While I could easily ignore the situation, it does upset me for several reasons.

My sister is currently unemployed. She hasn't been working for over a year (she's 3 years older than me) due to getting laid off (just a company cutting back on people, but wasn't exactly what you'd call a stable job (not very high paying). Currently living off of unemployment checks. Her husband is also unemployed (been slighter longer than her), but he has been going back to school at least for a higher degree (I congratulate him on that).

The past about my sister is that she's been in a lot of debt over the...

I'm considering contact lenses, anyone prefer them (tried or wear them now)?

By The Mana Knight 10-22-2010 04:35 PM
I posted a blog a while ago about finally getting my eyes checked and getting glasses. While I questioned whether or not I really needed them (after I failed an eye exam during a Physical in 2003), I really needed them. After wearing them for 10 months, there has been some positives and negatives about it.

The good thing is that I can see much better with them on. I didn't notice how bad things looked until I got a prescription for me. Previously, I thought it was normal to see a slight blur on digital clock digits (as an example) and thought it was normal to not see a 32" HDTV from my bed. Ever since I got them, I could finally see everything clear and could easily see things from any distance. I also had MAJOR problems getting headaches through the years. Whenever I wear glasses, my headaches vanish (only headaches I ever get will be sinus related, no longer eye related).

While its nice to see clearly, there has been some disadvantages to the...

I'm crazy..........looking to try snowboarding

By The Mana Knight 10-18-2010 08:41 PM
I know, this is another very random blog people may wonder how I thought about this and why I'm discussing it.

I just had a talk with one of my CAG friends recently on AIM, who happens to not live very far from me about purchasing some snowboard gear. I asked about whether there may be snowboarding mountains in my area. He mentioned a few and I honestly never heard about them. We talked about possibly going sometime.

I have never snowboarded once in my life. I use to live in an extremely flat state which lacked any mountains to snowboard, unless I drove way up north possibly (or went elsewhere). Despite never snowboarding, I always really liked snowboarding video games and watching snowboarding on TV a lot. I honestly always wanted to try snowboarding REALLY badly most of my life but never did it (partially because...

I prefer getting up early and going to bed early (even when I don't have to)

By The Mana Knight 10-09-2010 05:10 PM
While I've mentioned this before, I never made a blog about this subject. Basically, I'm the type of person who LOVES getting up early in the morning and going to bed early. There are many reasons as to why I prefer this. I'm curious to see how many others feel the same way, since most I know feel the opposite.

When I was in college, many times I had a class at 7:30am. Most students would try switching out of 7:30am classes, while I'd try to switch to as many 7:30am classes as possible. I'd get up around 6am, take a shower, eat breakfast, then leave my apartment no later than 7:05am (walk to my classes was anywhere from 10 minutes to 15 minutes). I was never late to my 7:30am class. Normally I was fully awake and energized. I remember having a C++ programming lab at 7:30am, where attendance was optional unless we had a lab practical or lab quiz. I ended up showing up to every lab. My stats lab was the same way, but attendance was never mandatory. I hated late...

Nerdy/Geeky things I do/done before/collect

By The Mana Knight 10-08-2010 04:30 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 10-08-2010 05:03 PM
All right, this is a blog I'm going to have a little fun with. Almost everyone after my high school years has called me a nerd or geek in some way. There happens to be many reasons people call me one. That does not mean I'm a total nerd/geek not doing a single normal thing, but there's no denying I can be a bit extreme at times. After all, when I took this nerd test a college friend linked me to (back in 2004 or something), I scored 98% nerdy (Supreme nerd god) despite telling the truth on everything. So why do people call me a nerd or geek you ask? This is the list of stuff that some already know or don't know:
  • I view/post on CAG each day, maybe not as much as I use to.
  • I have posted on 60+ internet message boards before online relating to video games and anime.
  • I use to change my sig/avatar every week, to something different. Never did I repeat the same avatar/sign again. This was from around 2007 to 2009 on CAG. Did the same on Modojo around 2005 to 2006 or so.

I'm probably not the only one who does not feel like gaming on some days

By The Mana Knight 10-04-2010 07:05 PM
Some may wonder why I'm blogging about this topic right now. Well, it's because I really don't feel like gaming right now; therefore, I'm not going to force myself into it. There are a few reasons as to why I don't feel like gaming at times, usually has to do with either being way too tired/exhausted after work, or because I really want to do something different.

Right now I'm just feeling really tired after work. After having a relaxing weekend for once (I tend to work almost every day by choice), it honestly felt good today at work being well rested. After going to work, going out to eat, along with going to a mall, I honestly don't feel like playing a game right now (was gone for 12 hours today). I just don't feel like doing anything. Usually when I have that feeling, I just start playing my anime boxsets so I can lay down on the sofa and watch it. I have a lot of anime to watch and sometimes its what I rather do. If I were to play a game while feeling tired,...

Under 30 years old and already getting gray hairs. :(

By The Mana Knight 09-30-2010 04:37 PM
Those who know me will know that I'm a bit picky about my hair. I normally get my haircut every two weeks since I hate it when my hair is over a quarter of a centimeter thick. I also prefer to keep my facial hair on my face completely shaved off unless I'm lazy.

When I got my haircut back in late high school/early college, the lady who cut my hair told me that I had a gray hair. I wasn't too happy with it, but I could deal with it because it was a single strand. As I've gotten older, I've noticed more gray hairs in my hair, but still very few. Where I really noticed gray hair to possibly become a problem is if I grow a beard. Due to having some issues on my face I rather not discuss, I had to grow my hair out a bit more since I wouldn't be able to shave as often. When I tried shaving, I noticed many gray hairs in my beard. That kind of freaks me out because I'm just not ready to get that old. While I may be 28 years old, many think I only look like I'm 22/23 years...

Ever have those days you don't feel like going to work/school?

By The Mana Knight 09-27-2010 05:20 PM
I feel like this is a blog topic most people should be able to relate to. They tell everyone to pick a career you like in school so you want to be there every single day (whether it be school/work). Unfortunately, despite how much interests you may have in that area, you might have those days you just don't want to go in. I can understand some feeling that way if they are working a job they don't like at all or feel forced into going to school (doing what they don't want to).

In my case, when it comes to work, I enjoy working my job most of the time (only time I don't is when things just go bad, but it happens), but every once in a while I have those days I don't feel like going in. Does that mean I decide to just take a day off and not go in? Nope, I just toughen up and go into work. Most of the time I feel I'm scheduled to go to work at a particular time, so I should be going in regardless of rather I want to or not. Only thing that may keep is away is if there's...

I question being a nice guy (explains why I’m single and get taken advantage of)

By The Mana Knight 09-25-2010 02:17 PM
I was going to write a blog for a while about being a nice guy, but after reading a thread about the things people do to annoy their girlfriend (many of these people were in a relationship for a while), I had to discuss about being single in this blog. I could not understand how some girls continued to date the same guy after all the years despite the annoyances (such as farting in their face to make them mad). If I had a girlfriend, I would try my hardest to not do a single thing to annoy them. Anyway, while I like being a nice guy, I many times question whether that is more of a bad thing than good thing.

Being a nice guy seems to be the reason many make fun of me. It happens at work, threads online, hanging out with people in real life, etc. Many times I’m trying NOT to be funny, yet everyone seems to want to crack on me or say bad things about me (such as the GGT thread on CAG). I really don’t understand that when I rarely if ever call anyone out or say anything...

Too many people are greedy IMO

By The Mana Knight 09-23-2010 05:19 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 09-23-2010 08:50 PM
This blog may be similar to what the_grimace once wrote, but I'm sort of taking it in a different direction. Regardless, one issue I have with many people (which partially explains some friendship issues) has to do with greed. This isn't really a problem in the workplace (only occasional incidents were tons of people are bugging me if I can do something for them not really giving me anything in return), but more so with some I know online, many from college, and so on. Since I'm usually the nice guy, I end up on the short end of the stick.

I've been dealing with greedy people throughout my life. When going back to high school/middle school years for an example, I'd have tons of friends who wanted to borrow a game from me. Some might allow me to borrow one their games, but normally want me to borrow something not so great. One reason my non-GH copy of FFVII wasn't mint anymore was because of how many borrowed the game. Even my Suikoden II got affected a little. I...

Anyone care about looks when appealing to the opposite gender?

By The Mana Knight 09-21-2010 06:54 PM
All right, this is actually a blot about guys trying to get a girl, or girls trying to get a guy. While some people will say that "looks" don't mean crap, its all about the confidence. I find that mostly truth, but I still feel looks are important to some extent.

In my case, whenever my hair is long, a little messed up, not exactly dressed my best, and haven't shaved in days, I honestly rather not talk to any girl I have interest in. I feel ugly, down, and not very confident inside when looking that way in public. Sometimes I do because I'm lazy, didn't have much time to get ready before going out (I'm not talking about taking an hour to get ready, more so where I just left the house dressed as I was), and so on. I mostly just kind of do what I need to do while out and head back home. If I run into someone I know, I may chat a little but probably not long. I usually get my haircut every two weeks (my hair is short), but quickly grows back in 5 days. Normally...

I have plenty of paid vacation left to use.....what to do with it?

By The Mana Knight 09-16-2010 05:05 PM
All right, this will be another quick blog I'll make on another decision I have. Last year I didn't really get the paid vacation because I was a new employee just starting. This year, I started off with two weeks paid vacation and got another week added on mid-way through the year. I have only missed three days of work (where I used vacation) because of us getting hit by a huge snowstorm (no way I was driving to work in 20+ inches of snow) and had to take two days off due to my sister's wedding. I used a few hours of vacation here and there because of Holiday's (I work 9 hour days most of the week to get every other Friday off, and since Holiday's only give us 8 hours, I just used 1 hour of vacation to make it up) and because of the PS Move event (where I took off of work early). Outside of that, I pretty much have just over 2 weeks of vacation left (two of the days I gotta save for the end of the year).

The big question is what to do with my vacation? There's no doubt...

Anyone ever see a therapist for help before (I'm close to doing it)?

By The Mana Knight 09-15-2010 06:07 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 09-15-2010 08:05 PM
I ask this very serious question to everyone on CAG. Despite all the blogs I made with various issues I had, I'm considering a therapist more than ever before. There are a few obstacles I have which continue to keep me from doing it, but I'm closer than before on biting the bullet. Keep in mind I kept putting off getting my eyes checked (I blogged about it) and getting other issues fixed (like it took me longer than others to move far away from family along with get a full driver's license), but eventually I got to them.

Has anyone on CAG seen a therapist for issues? I'm talking about whether they may be depression, some type of anxiety, issues with addictions, OCD, or just about anything. I'm not really talking about a therapist you see if you are trying to heal something you broke in the body, I'm talking about mental health related. I want to ask because it may help me out to decide whether it’s worth it or not.

I'm going to be very honest that...

So I took the Asperger's Quiz

By The Mana Knight 09-14-2010 03:59 AM
Yeah, I kind of hate making two blogs, but after reading this CAG thread I had to.

Your Aspie score: 159 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 47 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

I got it from taking this quiz.

If people on CAG remember, I once wrote these two blogs before about Asperger's and being autistic:
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=3075

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=5725

I can't talk as long as I want to because I would love to go back to bed right now (its almost 4am, I normally get up in 25 minutes to prepare for work).

Some stuff that related to me very well was having issues socially with people, preferring to be alone a lot, finding a high...

Kings Dominion Experience (Theme park in VA, lots of pics)

By The Mana Knight 09-12-2010 11:23 AM
The next theme park for me to blog about is Kings Dominion. I previously wrote blogs on Hershey Park and Six Flags America. I already went there last year, but really wanted to go this year due to Intimidator 305 opening along with getting the chance to go on a few other rides I missed. I do apologize for photo quality because it decreases when they resize down on CAG, and had a hard time finding the right brightness w/ my Droid Incredible.

I left for Kings Dominion early in the morning (still only 50 degrees outside) and got there around 9:20am. Parking lot was mostly empty so I parked VERY close to the front. I got there and waited in line until the park opened at 10am. Once it opened at 10am, I ran right to Intimidator 305.

Intimidator 305 is the third gigacoaster in the country (fourth around the world). Its height is 305 feet, with a drop of 300 ft. at an 85 degree drop. Its drop is...

Looking for new shoes.....what types of shoes do CAGs wear?

By The Mana Knight 09-07-2010 09:52 PM
All right, this is a very random blog by myself, but any help would be greatly appreciated. For many years one clothing item I'd spend a lot of money on was shoes. I always wore nice pairs to school. Many times I'd have a pair in multiple colors (not as crazy as a girl, more like a black pair and white pair depending upon what I wear).

I ask this question because for many years (dating back to my late Elementary school years) I've been wearing basketball shoes if I'm not dressed up. It was because I was constantly playing basketball outside and inside, and I'd wear lots of basketball gear (whether it be Chicago Bulls or Purdue stuff). I started out with Nike's, then went with Air Jordan's. After Jordan left the Bulls, I started to wear Nike Shox. I continued to wear them (I bought like 6-8 pairs from 2001-2008).

Last year I got some Nike Overplay IV's along with another pair. While they are nice shoes, it honestly feels weird...

Today is TMK's Birthday (Turining 28 today)

By The Mana Knight 09-04-2010 02:39 PM
Well, today is my birthday, turning 28 years old today.

That happens to be the birthday cake I got from my sister and brother in-law when they came to visit. Just the kind I like, white cake with white icing (came from some cake store in Indianapolis, IN). Sucks that where I live now (Mid Atlantic region), its difficult to find white cake since all I see is yellow cake (unless I go to Safeway).

I definitely don't feel like I'm 28. Most say I look like I'm only 22 years old or so (and I still have a lot of energy). I'm definitely not looking forward to getting older since I heard your health goes way downhill as soon as you turn 30. For someone who doesn't take care of their health too well, it won't be pretty.

As for how my birthday has gone, I got up at 4:25am. I left around 45 minutes after that to go into work. I was planning to leave...

My August 2010 Pick-ups of becoming a Japanophile

By The Mana Knight 09-02-2010 05:42 PM
Eh, I didn't have an easy time coming up with a title for this blog. I wouldn't say that's fully the case, but I did buy more Japanese related items compared to normally this time. People have called me Otaku or Japanophile before, but I'm not the same as I use to be. I didn't buy anywhere near as much stuff as I did in July, which was beyond ridiculous.

The things listed above are what I bought at Anime Pavilion (outside of Gurren Lagann Collection), an anime store located in Falls Church, VA. I've seen their website before but never visited the store. After buying a bunch of things from them at the Dealer's Room @ Otakon, I decided to check out the store. I found a Vivi figure (OMG, had to buy it), Tidus figure, and Eureka Seven wall scroll (OMG, I just HAD to buy it).
