So I went to a bar today and had my first beer (Miller Lite)

By The Mana Knight 06-11-2010 07:29 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 06-11-2010 07:56 PM
A co-worker of mine told me he was going out to a bar tonight, and said I could come if I wanted to (although he didn't expect me to go). I said I might go, but we'll see. Anyway, for some strange reason, I decided to do something different and drive there (it was in an area I never been to, so I kind of got lost trying to find it).

Anyway, I get to the bar and see two of my co-workers there. They were like "what was I doing there?", since they didn't expect me to be there. They told me about a bottle of Miller Lite was only $1.75 that night. I actually told my co-workers I was going to greatly consider having a beer the next time I went out. They felt some fruity drink or something would be better for me, but I'm honestly not into many of them (which is why my interests in alcoholic drinks is very limited, so I only tried captain and coke). I kept debating off the top of my head whether I should try a beer (my co-worker said he'd pay). Due to being very...

People can't seem to drive in the rain it seems, whenever it rains

By The Mana Knight 06-10-2010 05:59 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 06-10-2010 06:52 PM
This especially seems to be in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S., where I currently live. Whenever it rains, it seems like the drive home from work takes forever.

Yesterday, it was raining outside. It took me a while to get home from work because cars were driving really slow, or there were traffic jams. It seems like whichever street I took, there were a huge line of cars, and I'd be seeing police car lights either parked or trying to get around traffic in order to get to an accident. Several streets I take back home to work everyday were blocked, so I had to find alternate paths which took up a lot of time. When listening to the radio, the amount of traffic accidents reported was crazy.

This has happened for a very long time since I've been driving to and from my job. The one morning I was almost late to my job (keep in mind I always leave early), it was because several cars were lined up stopped (raining outside) due to an accident. People either...

Working the graveyard shift soon at my job. :(

By The Mana Knight 06-09-2010 06:35 PM
First off, I wanted to greatly apologize to everyone who could not read my last blog. I had to keep it private because I had a major issue I wanted to discuss about my current working situation, which I really needed to hear input on. It was tough finding the right place to post it because on Facebook my co-workers family may see it, and other sites picked up my Google easily could hurt my future in the work place. Those who wanted to read my blog, I was happy to add them as a friend or send them a PM of the story. Anyway, this blog will be a greatly shorted version of what I last blogged about, along with my plans for the future. Regardless, I’m getting moved to third shift in just over a week (I chose over first). I have never worked a 3rd shift in my lifetime and I never stay up late (I’m an early morning person).

Many at CAG may remember how I was having a hard time finding a job when I finished college. Despite me having an Engineering related degree and a GPA...

Forced to work nights now. :(

By The Mana Knight 06-08-2010 06:36 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 06-12-2010 08:53 PM
This was my hidden CAG blog, but edited a bit now with some things removed along with being shorted

In case you all didn't know, I tried sending resumes/applying to 80-100+ jobs. Most jobs companies didn't even bother contacting me, but I got numerous rejections (some rejected me from resume, some did after interviews), and many companies had my resume on hold (but couldn't hire me because they were on a hiring freeze and were laying people off). I was really down for a while because I was one of the hardest working students in my college (I got a degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology at a really good university, similar to an EE degree (GPA of around 3.6 overall), just more hands on with electronics compared to only doing math equations. Most all jobs are the same). Part of the fault for not finding a job was on me. Just before I finished college, I had major issues with my senior project (where I could not graduate until it was fully working),...

I HATE it when people are joking around with me

By The Mana Knight 06-06-2010 06:24 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 06-07-2010 05:00 AM
Yes, the title speaks the truth. I absolutely hate it when people try messing with me playing some jokes. While I may do some minor jokes, I won't take it too far. I prefer to live a more serious life where people aren't joking around me.

The most common place jokes happen to me at work, which has me beyond pissed off at times making me want to avoid all human contact right when I get home. One time a co-worker changed my desktop wallpaper to "My Little Pony", and oh course I was really upset to see that happen because I had to spend my time finding new wallpaper to put on my desktop (taking up time). Another day I was in charge of making sure a piece of equipment gets fixed. I told the people repairing the equipment that it's really important and to put a rush on it (no problem because they can do that). Well, as soon as I found it to be finished, I asked them if it was ready for pick up. I was told to send someone else over to pick it up, but unfortunately...

Thinking of cosplaying at Otakon 2010

By The Mana Knight 06-04-2010 02:23 PM
In case people don't know what Otakon is, it happens to be the 2nd biggest anime convention in the U.S. (takes place at the Baltimore Convention Center). Its attendance is usually over 26000 people. Since I'm a big anime fan/gamer and don't live all that far from Otakon, I feel I should go. I didn't go last year because I just moved to the Mid-Atlantic region and wasn't able to prepare for it. I'm about to pre-register so I can get tickets for $65 vs. $75 at the door (pre-registration expires in early July). Otakon goes from July 30th to August 1st. One of my co-workers is going (he went last year), a co-worker of mine daughter (around the same age as me) plans to go dressed up like Tifa Lockheart (FFVII), the Food Lion girl (the one I kind of like, but haven't dated her because she may be too young) asked me if I was going (she will go, happens to be just after her birthday), and some online friends who live not all that far from me are going.

I definitely see going...

Anyone cheap when it comes to gas for your vehicle?

By The Mana Knight 06-03-2010 05:17 PM
While I may not seem as much of a CAG as I use to be when it comes to games (I still buy games less than MSRP almost every time), I'm definitely a cheap ass when it comes to getting gas for my car.

I will go slightly out of my way, hold off on getting gas, or whatever to save money on gas. I tend to see gas cheaper in some areas near Fort Meade (at Shell and Exxon stations), so oh course I want to get gas in that area a lot. I especially like the stations where its $0.05 cheaper when using cash, since that's normally what I use at gas stations. I try to plan my trips where I can at least end up by a station there so I can get gas. I know what areas have expensive very well and try avoiding them at all costs to get gas. Today my orange light on my gas tank came on because there was no way I was going to get gas at an expensive station charging $2.89 a gallon for regular. I drove a few miles down the street to a station where I'd pay around $2.65 a gallon, yet I still...

May 2010 Pick-ups / Yakuza 3 & GoWIII = Done / Game Impressions

By The Mana Knight 06-01-2010 06:23 PM
It's time again for my pick-up blog, this time for the month of May and the very last week of April. This time I cut back on buying random non-gaming stuff, but definitely spent quite a bit on games despite some good deals. Most my stuff came from Amazon, but some came from Sears, NCSX, GameStop, etc. If I didn't say where I bought the game, you can assume Amazon with game credits.

I went ahead and imported Tales of Vesperia from NCSX. Took a while to receive it since it wasn't in-stock. I mostly bought it because it was my favorite 360 game, and since I'd be without a 360 for a while, decided to import it. I'll probably start importing more Tales games. Playing in Japanese wasn't too bad, since I got use to it in the demo. I think the PSN card in the photo was used to buy Record of Agarest War...

A friend needed a place to crash for a a day or so

By The Mana Knight 05-31-2010 06:45 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 06-12-2010 08:51 PM
This is NOT a blog about me having some lover/girlfriend over at my place. It just has to do with a friend of mine needed a place to stay for a few days.

This all started when one of my online friends sent me an AIM message asking how close I lived to a particular address. I said I wasn't too far from it, and asked why did he want to know. Come to find out, he was wanting to go to Deathfest (I never heard of it until recently since I'm no heavy metal fan); however, many nearby hotels were booked and it's not like he had a lot of extra money for a hotel room. The person he wanted to go to the concert/event with (someone I also know online) couldn't have him stay over since he was still living with his parents (and parents didn't really want guests over they didn't know). He asked if it would be all right to crash at my place for one night. Now this person is not exactly a stranger, due to playing games and posting on some of the same forums since 2001 (we met once in...

My Six Flags America Experience (Pictures)

By The Mana Knight 05-21-2010 05:20 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 05-21-2010 05:36 PM
Last time I made a blog about my Hershey Park experience. This time, I decided to travel to Six Flags America (it’s no Great America in Gurnee, IL or Mid America in St. Louis, MO. I have been to both those parks many years ago), located just east of D.C. (in Prince George County, MD). The drive was short for me, compared to other parks I drove to. Many told me to not even bother with the park (due to parents dropping their bad kids off during the summer everyday) along with it being small; however, I badly wanted to increase my roller coaster ride count, so of course I was going. I decided to go on my Friday off from work. I expected the park to not be so busy. The weather was also nice thankfully, in the mid to high 80’s.

I never went to the park, but thankfully getting there was quite simple (despite the sign on the Capital beltway saying Six Flags just before the exit). Once I got there, I saw parking was $15.00, which...

Have major headache now & I had to try new deodorant

By The Mana Knight 05-17-2010 04:53 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 05-17-2010 05:05 PM
Some might think by the title of my blog, it means that new deodorant I got is giving me a headache. Well, that actually isn't the case, but there are two things on my mind right now.

First off, I'll start with the headache. I've been having a major headache since Friday afternoon. It's been really hard for me to do anything, whether its use my computer, play a video game, drive places, and even affected me at work. Some might just say take medicine, but there's a reason for my headache. I use to get headaches almost everyday, where I could feel the pain in my left eye. I'd take medicine for the headache at times which somewhat helped, but I kept getting one. Early this year, I ended up getting my eyes checked and found out I really did need glasses (due to pretty bad astigmatism and both my left and right eyes being very different). Once I started wearing glasses and getting adjusted to them, my headaches completely vanished. I was seeing much better (especially...

I never tried coffee before

By The Mana Knight 05-15-2010 04:05 PM
Yeah, that's true, and probably some people can't believe it. Some may wonder what got me to discuss that topic out of no where, it's actually came up during a recent AIM conversation with a friend.

As a kid, I just looked at coffee as being a drink for adults, so I didn't care to try it. Plus, only my Dad drank coffee in the family (my Mom didn't since she can't drink caffeine), so its not like I smelled coffee all that much. I remember hearing it could stunt your growth and other things, so I just never bothered to drink it.

Some might wonder what I drank for breakfast instead. For many years, I would just drink Pepsi for breakfast. It gave me tons of energy (or well, make me hyper) and didn't feel the need to drink any coffee. However, within the past year, I actually stopped drinking Pepsi for breakfast because it was one of the reasons I had bad feelings in my stomach each morning. Instead, I've been drinking water. Since I'm always tired in...

Should I get a pet?

By The Mana Knight 05-11-2010 05:20 PM
I know it has been a while since I last blogged. I just haven't had much I wanted to share with people (some things I'd love to share, it's best I don't).

Regardless, one of my co-workers told me two or so months ago that he just thought of something I needed........a pet (mostly a cat). He felt a pet would be perfect for me since I'm alone all the time (I live alone) and felt it would do wonders for me (helped him out a lot, since he has two cats). I'll admit that I really love pets. I had a family dog for over 15 years when I lived with my parents, but them he eventually died. I loved my dog so much, we were so close (I named him, and he use to follow me around and do exactly what I do). I also had a family cat while living with my parents (still living now, but starting to get pretty old). While I do slightly prefer dogs, I do still love cats too. While being unemployed, my cat use to follow me a lot and would want to lay on top of me while I tried to play a game...

I did something new today.......went mountain biking (the experience)

By The Mana Knight 04-29-2010 08:50 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 04-29-2010 10:09 PM
Well, many who know me in real life and online, say I need to do at least one new thing each week. I normally just go to work, cook, clean, do laundry, play games, watch anime, etc. every single week rarely doing something new. Co-workers have been trying to get me to go mountain biking with them for the longest time, but I finally decided to go today. The one I went with knows exactly who he is (sometimes he replies to my blog). Too bad I don't have any pictures of my experience since I left my cell phone in my vehicle.

The mountain biking trail wasn't too far from me, but never drove by it before. To be honest, it was nothing I was expecting. All I saw was a dirt road, going into woods. I mostly thought the trail would be nice and smooth, some mud (not much, since I hate getting dirty with a passion), and the occasional steep hill. I was so wrong because there were rocks every where, the ride was very bumpy where I almost fell off my bike multiple times, almost...

TMK's April 2010 Pick-ups (<3 Wii) & Impressions/Games Finished

By The Mana Knight 04-28-2010 09:20 PM
This will definitely be one of my smaller pick-up blogs, since there honestly wasn't all that many new games I wanted in April. Had some unfortunate things happen such as my 360 dying, which I blogged about. I also got a lot of trade-in credit from GameStop, over $250, and still have just less than half of it remaining. I finally beat FFXIII, along with Dante's Inferno and Heavy Rain (although I think I finished Heavy Rain in April).

So this is what I got in April...(quality of pics may be iffy since I used a new program due to getting rid of my old desktop).

I only bought two anime collections cheap, Fate/Stay Night and Kurau Phantom Memory. They are two animes I partially watched, but wanted to watch them completely. I have yet opened them because I'm finishing up all the last anime I got, but I'll most likely get into them in May. Really excited...

Applied for a new credit card........got denied. :(

By The Mana Knight 04-23-2010 03:01 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 04-24-2010 12:16 PM
Well, some may remember how I started a blog once about lacking credit history (that was almost two years ago, but things changed since then) and another one asking about which type of credit card to maybe get. Around two weeks ago, I decided to apply for a credit card. I honestly figured I wouldn't have much problems because I have a well paying job, already had some credit history thrown on due to sharing a card with a family member, have two good bank accounts (one with checking and savings, another with just savings), zero debt currently, never filed for bankruptcy, and because I'm always on time with every bill of mine.

I decided to try applying for a PlayStation credit card (VISA, by Chase Bank) to see what would happen. There's no denying I'm a huge PlayStation fan (one reason I tried), and I could maybe use a discount on another PS3 slim (if I indeed ditch my 20GB PS3). Well, I ended up getting a letter in the mail yesterday saying I was denied. The reason...

Hershey Park Pictures, Xbox 360 Status, Biking, and other stuff

By The Mana Knight 04-19-2010 04:53 PM
First off, I wanted to apologize for everyone who isn't added as one of my friends on CAG, because the Hershey Park pictures were not displaying. At first I thought someone just had computer issues, but after viewing my blog not logged in, I saw they weren't showing. Therefore, I updated my settings to fix it. Pictures should now display for everyone:
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/blog.php?b=14014

I blogged about my Xbox 360 getting a red ring of death recently. Well, I ended up getting lucky and got a free repair after talking to MS nicely. I sent my console off last Monday and it was received Thursday evening. On Saturday my status was updated online saying my Xbox 360 console was received and is in process of being repaired. I'm really curious how much longer it will take, but I'm constantly looking.

I posted in my March pick-ups blog about getting a bike. Around two weeks ago, I finally went riding with co-workers. Currently the area...

My Hershey Park Experience (Lots of Pictures)

By The Mana Knight 04-18-2010 04:31 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 04-18-2010 05:12 PM
In case many of you didn't know already, I absolutely love going to theme parks. One of my goals is to ride just about every roller coaster out there. I also love theme parks due to arcade games, sometimes the food, and all the events that happen. Normally I don't bring a camera at theme parks, but this time I decided to show I could finally post pictures of my experience (I didn't bring a camera to King's Dominion last year, and didn't bring one to Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags Mid America, Six Flags Great America, etc.).

Hershey Park was a park I've been wanting to go to for many years, but never did because it was too far out of my way. Due to living much closer to the park and getting an awesome deal on tickets, I just had to go (I just went recently). I ended up driving to Hershey, PA, not really knowing where I was going but made it there all right. Here are a bunch of pictures of the park and stuff. I'll later explain my feelings about each roller coaster...

Had to get new car tires :( Also debating whether to get a newer car

By The Mana Knight 04-02-2010 09:33 PM
Well, lately there has been a lot of car stuff on my mind. I rarely discuss about cars around CAG, but its definitely something I think about a lot. I DO have to drive back and forth to work almost everyday, and I'm constantly driving out to malls, grocery stores, etc.

First off, due to my Dad coming into town for a few days, we went to Sam's Club to have my tires checked on. He was the one who got tires from Sam's long ago for my vehicle (before I started driving it). Since they came from Sam's, tire rotations and so on were free there. I don't have a Sam's card (only Costco and BJ's until yesterday), so I had him go with me there to have my tires checked out. Come to find out, I heard the news that my tires were bad and I had to get new tires. You better bet that I'm really ing pissed I had to get new tires, after all the money I spent the last week (getting bar stools for my kitchen at IKEA, along with a new bike). The tires costs me freaking $300 for all...

I'm constantly in fear

By The Mana Knight 03-26-2010 03:46 PM
Updated by The Mana Knight 03-27-2010 07:13 AM
All right, I decided to completely admit a problem I tend to be avoid discussing or try to change the subject on often. It's going to be near impossible for me to explain everything since there's so much, but I'll at least give everyone an idea what I'm talking about. Basically, I live every single day of my life in fear. Some fears may be normal, while some fears are quite stupid. To let everyone know, I do not take any form of medication. Fears are what prevent me from getting anything done.

My biggest fear in life is rejection. I feel the need to be quiet because I fear rejection. I tend to not ask a girl out because my mind tends to think I'll get rejected, so I end up not asking a girl out. I rarely ever call friends because I fear rejection for them or that I'm calling them at a bad time. I next NEVER ask anyone to do anything with me, since I fear things won't work out. I have been blown off a bunch of times in my life, like when friends say they'll do something...
