(Sorry about some of the pictures. I discovered my camera was broken after I decided to do this, so I had to use my cell phone)
I always see others posting these things, and this is the first month in a long time where I went out and bought things and went to shows and what not, so I decided I'd post one too! The month started off with a game I had been anticipating for a good long time, Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions. I got it from GameStop.com for $45 + taxes with a coupon code from May, when I preordered it. A few weeks after that, my dad and I discovered Ameoba Records in Hollywood. I'd always heard about it, but being the Cheap/BrokeAss I normally am, I never went. So with a little bit of cash in my pocket, I decided to go. I'm a big fan of vinyl records, and this place had a decent sized selection, so I was able to find some I'd been wanting... |

Doing the Fanboy Shuffle

My girlfriend's brother bought a Wii the night they were released and, to him, it was the greatest thing since sliced bread....
Up until he sold it to fund his newly purchased 360, which was then the greatest thing since the Wii.... Up until he decided that he'd make the PS3 his new 'main' console and now, thats the greatest thing ever. Anybody else have friends like this? The way I see it, had he been money smart in the first place, he'd have purchased a PS3 to begin with and be done with it, as my math has him spending spending close to $650 to transfer his fanboy-ism from one 'hot' thing to another. And yeah, he gets the fanboy crush hard. When the Wii came out, he was all "This is the future of gaming. Graphics don't have anything on this." until he got his 360 when it was "Live is great. I mean, its pretty amazing. And the console exclusives they pay for? Awesome!" until he got his PS3 when it was "I... |

How Does One Beat a Fighting Game? or Does One Ever Actually Beat Fighting Games?

This past year, I've decided to keep track of what games I've beaten and the dates I've beaten them. I've also been very open to my definition of what "beat" has meant. For games like Uncharted 1 and 2, I've played through the story mode once, yet for games like Wolverine Origins, it was a full 1000/1000 GS.
I figured that as long as I did what I set out to do, the game was beat. For Uncharted, I wanted to experience the story, but for Wolverine, I wanted to own that 1000GS. That part hasn't been that hard until I realize that I have a few games I'd like to add on. Those games being Marvel Vs Capcom 2, BlazBlue and Super Street Fighter 4 (in a few months). In the past, I stayed away from fighters because I wasn't the best at them, but with Street Fighter 4 releasing last Feb., my brother got me into them. If I want to add them to this list, I need to find a way to consider them beaten. With the original SFIV, I could consider it beaten... |

Merry Christmas. You're PS3 is breaking/broken.

Long Story (Scroll down for Short Story):
Some back story here: I got my PS3 last year for Christmas, a gift from my girlfriend, and I've rarely used it. I love it, but I don't play enough games on it to warrant its constant use, and I'm not a movie buff, so Blu-Rays hold none of my attention. Although its sat for the better part of the year, I've kept it dusted and clean to prevent any issues. I took care of it. Although my 360 sees more use, I loved it, for games like LBP and GOW. Its software backwards compatible, one of the main reasons I wanted it. We bought it off a friend of mine from my old job who I still stay in contact with. Well, I lent it to my cousin, who recently lost his job, so he'd have something to do with his little brothers for Christmas. I lent him Uncharted 1 too. Well, I was hanging out with his older brother last night, preparing food for my sisters birthday party, and this is the conversation we had: Louie: "So,... |

Washed GameStop Edge card

(I wasn't sure where to post this, so I thought a blog would be better than posting it somewhere wrong on the forum.)
I went to Disneyland last night and my pants got wrecked from Splash Mountain (I got shafted with sitting in the front of the boat). As soon as I came home, I quickly put my pants into the washer to get the stank of Disneywater off them. When I removed them from the washer later, I realized that I washed my wallet, my keys, and my cell phone (DOH!). In my wallet was my Edge card, which had that sticker on the back. The cell phone I can deal with, but my Edge card a few more months on it and I'd like to continue to get that small discount, as I have some GS gift cards coming from various places. Is there anyway I can get the sticker replaced? I heard somewhere I can get it replaced if I bring a copy of Game Informer from my subscription, but I wanted to find out if that was true. |
