Please think for yourselves, don't let politicians think for you
By Mad39er 01-14-2013 10:03 PM

Normally I wouldn't write about politics because it's such a dirty field to be in but if you're not paying attention to all the gun control talk and all the Second Amendment talk, you should. You should form your own opinions, you should research the platforms, you should not reiterate what you've read as if it were gospel until you've vetted it as such. This is a subject that you should be educated about because it determines where you live, where you have a family, where you feel safe and most importantly, who you trust to fight for your best interest in your every day life.
Right now there are Senators and Representatives from three States who are screaming the loudest for Gun Control. What three States? New York, New Jersey and California. These Senators and Reps seek to pass their Gun Control laws over the whole of the US, starting with their States first. New York State has the strictest gun laws in the country, New York City is even stricter and you have the Democratic... |

Want a tattoo, bought an Elliptical instead
By Mad39er 01-06-2013 03:14 PM

I've wanted a tattoo for a while now, I have no idea what I want though. I know they say decide on something, let it mull for a couple of months and then go for it if you still want it but I've been trying to figure out what I wanted for years. Just isn't happening. So far the only tattoo I'm going to get is one my dad has, but he's gotta die before I get a memorial tattoo of his tattoo.
So instead of trying to figure out what to get stabbed with, I bought an Elliptical instead. When I did have a gym membership, the Elliptical was the only machine I really really enjoyed and I couldn't stand a treadmill, it was only good for warming me up for the Elliptical. I went to Sears just to step on a few and I was going to get the Sole E25 but it was very wobbly, too wobbly side to side. The base was not as wide and flat as I would have liked it in the front of the machine, so I ended up ordering the Sole E35 instead. The Elliptical gets delivered on the 19th and I've... |

Being Hurricane Sandy affected

I live on Staten Island, right by the beach in Tottenville. I stayed like many other people, I stayed because I knew a storm shelter(the coastal evacuation site) would not take my dog. The storm was essentially in full effect for us by 7pm Sunday night, about an hour after losing power the NYPD started knocking on doors trying to evacuate people, threatening to arrest them if they didn't evacuate. On hearing the Police and seeing people walking around, we shut off our lights and moved our dog into the bedroom so she would not bark if somebody came knocking. They didn't come for us and I wasn't leaving my dog.
So we hid and hunkered down, the winds were picking up and it was getting scary. The winds were just taking everything that was loose and slamming it into the house, it was like living in a haunted house. Things bumped and banged into the house, it was as if there were a monster outside sieging us. I don't know how I slept but I passed out at some point, there was nothing... |

Christmas party! - "I fell in love with a stripper" Edition
By Mad39er 12-16-2012 09:51 PM

Well, the party is over as of Saturday 2am but it was a good night. Had drinks at the bar, went to Arirang for hibachi food, got me some awesome peanut covered wings and the Emperor's Deluxe meal which was everything on the menu(filet mignon, scallops, shrimp, lobster, mushrooms and veggies) with rice. Went back to the bar for moar drinks.
Got dropped off at Curves and immediately got two massages. First one was soft and pleasant from a cute blonde Russian but I needed something stronger with how deep the tension goes. Second I got was this brute of a gulag interrogator style massage from this Spanish/Russian mix of a girl. I gotta admit I was digging the gloves and hat, she definitely was a bruiser if there ever was one but I told her flat out to kick my ass, that she did. I can't tell if I'm still hungover or bruised from her assault. It was awesome! It's hard to pay attention to the ladies walking around while getting a massage but thank god these girls... |

Poking around with new camera
By Mad39er 05-28-2012 05:07 PM

Like any parent proud of their young'un, we get to the point where we want to take pictures, lots of pictures. I had a Kodak 10mp camera that I thought was decent, until I press the button and almost a full second later the picture gets taken and there is some shakiness that's transferred from my hand in that second to the photo. For the most part it wasn't a huge deal but I knew I needed a "real" camera. Looking around I was probably going to end up with a Nikon D5100 but the $700 price tag just hurt, like kick in the balls hurt because I want to take pictures of my monster so badly.
Well, step in Amazon with the Panny Lumix DMC-GF3 in one of their deals of the day. It's not a "true" DSLR, it's what they call a mirrorless micro four thirds camera. I have no idea what it means but the camera is tiny. It's actually smaller than my mom's old point and shoot film camera. It's just a hair wider than my Kodak M1073IS, about 25% thicker and the kit 14mm lens... |

Who reads these things?

How interested are you, when you click on the blog link, to actually read somebody elses personal thoughts on a random subject?
Do you factor non-gaming related things, pictures and such before coming to a read or skip decision? Are you remotely interested in anything real, dark and deep or are your interests more commercially marketed? How "real" are you willing to allow people to be before you decide "skip"? We all have different tones and structures, JEKKI is awesome with the foods and just approachability, TMK just airs his freak show every now and again and you've got all the reviewers plugging themselves. Is there room for depth or are people happy with the status quo and the occasional jilted lover hijacking a CAG account? It's a boy's club in every sense of the word on these pages, it's hard to make a decision to air what's personal because of that. I've written up 5 or 6 different blog posts and... |

The straw that broke the camels back

There is a Dunkin Donuts in Jamesburg, NJ that I happen to stop in on from time to time when I'm working in the area. I've been told it's a mess but they haven't been too bad, well, that all changed Wednesday for me.
I drove down to grab my boss and of course he wanted coffee, so we used the Drive Thru. I ordered his coffee and my iced coffee, paid for both, asked for a straw. Got coffees and my change, asked for a straw again and the guy just walked away. Walked away. I don't know what changed this year from last but I flipped out, much to the amusement of my boss who always has horror stories about this DD. I yelled at him, called him a son of a bitch, which of course he didn't bother turning around because he was already walking away. I ended up reusing a straw from another fast food cup and my boss is just rolling as I'm yelling, spouting all sorts of profanities about not getting my straw. So when I got home I wrote off an email pretty much explaining the... |

My favorite and cheapest pizzaria in the area closed! Tragedy! Waaaahhhh! They didn't even leave a note!
Granted I have like 5+ pizzarias in the area, Classic on Amboy made it the way I liked. Brothers is undercooked and the crust a hair too thick . Villa Monte is just more expensive than the rest but awesome pizza . I'll have to give the Towne Deli a try.RIP Classic Pizza in T-ville, Shaolin, NY, 10307. |

Top ranked players are overrated
By Mad39er 04-11-2012 08:02 AM

|
When I turned on my PS3 for the first time this month and probably the first time in 3 weeks, I didn't think I'd end up playing with a top ranked TDM player, muchless kicking his teams ass with randoms. Normally I don't care about standing because I've played with some of the best CAGs on MW2 and MW3 even though we never had the rankings, we made our share of opposing players rage quit but it's not like we aimed to be #1 in any region or in any field.
So it's Rollin101 and his southern good old boys started talking trash but they weren't getting racist and they weren't yelling, so I didn't mute them as I normally would because they weren't obnoxious. I checked the lobby leaderboards and saw he was 15th Prestige, ranked #17 in TDM with 2.0 K/D. Great, he should put up a decent fight as I'm not partied and just bouncing between teams, right? Well, I ended up against him and his buddies, kicked their asses collectively in the match to go 21/4(5/1 K/D)... |

Sex Education
By Mad39er 04-01-2012 04:51 PM
|
|
Every once in a while I get nostalgic and the subject of sex education comes up, especially when it's around all these dopey teenagers. Its a fact that Sex Ed was dumbed down and cut from a bunch of schools, so teenagers are getting people diseased and knocked up like never before. I got lucky, pardon the pun, and had probably the last "real" sex education class before they stopped it doing it the old fashioned way, pun intended.
My Sex Ed instructor was a butch tattoo'd Puerto Rican woman who worked in one of the local AIDS clinics. It was by far the funnest and most engaging class I had in that school, I must have been like 13ish. She gave us the option of a Clinical by the book class or a straight and dirty down to business style of class, which was put to vote. Of course all the proper Chinese girls wanted the Clinical, everybody else wanted the real stuff, so we got the dirty version. There were slides and videos, of course. But she took pleasure,... |

Why do I get all the racist customers? |
|
For some reason I get all the racist customers. I mean like really racist, not just the occasional n-word here or a kill whitey there.
I've gone twice to one house, the first time I didn't know they were the types to dress up in Nazi uniforms, play marching music and get drunk. No, that part was left out until after they were drunk and flooding the basement where I was working. The second time I went just to flip a switch but I had my really ethnic/terrorist-looking cousin with me in the truck, thankfully neither time nobody got dressed up and no dancing or marching occurred. My other cousin worked in that house and felt uncomfortable because he's a lot darker than me and I think they may have said something. I once went to one gentleman's house, he happened to be black and also happened to be married to a white woman but he basically lived in the basement for whatever reason or another, so I didn't know. Now mind you, no pictures of him exist on the main floor... |

Going to spoiler a bunch of this, it ended up being a really long blog entry.
I was thinking about something that had happened to me at my old job and I kind of got upset about it today. I didn't really think much about it at the time but the more I reflect back on it, it's probably the scariest thing I've been involved in. I'm more upset by it now, fully digesting all the ramifications had anything gone any other way. ... |

Deleting old emails - Did I really write that?
By Mad39er 01-25-2012 12:11 AM

I took the time to clean out some 3k+ messages from one of my email accounts and started reading some of the old replies I had from a now gone blogging site. I came across a few that I don't remember writing and I don't really remember too much about. In fact it's as if they were written by like a possessed version of me.
Have you ever come across an old conversation log/email that makes you wonder if you really typed that? I just found it freaky that I did, even more now that I look on that missed opportunity to be that person that I don't remember. |

Following up on my previous blog Why are female doctors such a pain in the ass?
Got my second opinion when I went to see the head Dermatologist in the same office. When his aide/trainee/whathaveyou agreed with the previous Doctor's notes, I just let it go. Thankfully my Doctor was awesome, in part because I was his patient a long time ago. He listened when I told him Ketoconazole shampoos never worked, checked out my head, saying that it's probably a little more than Seborric Dermatitis, may be something funky and started writing scripts for some cortizone type stuff. Incidentally he gave me an acne medicine, which was a little unexpected but I'm sure I'll use sparingly. Finally it wrapped it up with another cream and a script for diflucan. All in all I ended up with 5 prescriptions. I'm hoping the next blog will be the conclusion to this annoyance. If it is, those that earned it will get their " you" right in the first paragraph ... |

Why are female doctors such a pain in the ass?
By Mad39er 11-17-2011 06:13 PM
|
|
My mom can't go to any female doctor of ANY kind, cardiologist, gyno, pulmonary or any other kind of female doctor because they all seem to know better than her, their patient. I thought it was just limited to her until I went to the Dermatologist today.
I ended up with a Blonde doctor with a limp fish handshake that way too easily intimidated by my frustrations with her. She misdiagnosed my current annoyance as Seborrheic Dermatits and prescribed stuff for that(Nizoral and cream) that has never worked for me. I told her as much. She is insistent that it is. I reiterated my symptoms and she just wouldn't budge. No skin sample was taken, just a quick wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am type service that had me actually seeing the doctor for less than 20 minutes. What is it about female doctors that the more they know about anything, the less they know how to deal with people and treat the person and not the symptoms? Ugh. I thought I was uncomfortable with a very metro doctor... |

MW3 Prestige planning
By Mad39er 11-14-2011 08:29 AM

Modern Warfare 3 brings in a lot of new content and with that they adds in the Prestige shop, every time you hit L80 you can reset everything acquired and get a Prestige token to use in the shop. For every recent generation COD you've Prestiged in, you get a Prestige token as well, so I started with two tokens(MW2 and Black Ops). Tokens can be used for double exp, to unlock extra custom class slots, extra emblems and titles or anything that you unlocked on the trip to L80, ie; guns, perks, equipment. All of this requires a little planning.
So last night I hit the Prestige button and took a break to think about what I wanted to do. I can use pretty much any gun without much complaints, in fact for me there is a short unlock tree in the gun hierarchy. UMP to start, CM901 until the ACR, ACR to M14/AK and I'm satisfied, which means unlocking guns is a bit of a waste. Equipment wise the only thing I have an interest for is C4, but it's not an immediate need. I skipped the extra... |
