As always it has taken quote a bit of time to actually get this posted, but here it is!

Game Progress

Skylander's 3DS

First game finished for 2013!!! Now, if only I could average one game finished every eight days of this year (I finished this on the 8th!) I could finish 45 games this year... unfortunately that will never happen, but one can hope

Wow, this game really puts up a fight. I honestly did not think I was going to be able to finish it, that is pretty sad considering this is more or less designed for children. I loved the game, don't get me wrong, but it was surprisingly challenging. When I first started playing the game I had this idea that I could collect everything in the game and spent a lot of time replaying levels to make sure I had everything. By the end, I was just running through levels holding my breath the entire time hoping not to die! I would say the one thing that really frustrated me

Gameplay

Super Princess Peach - I have been trying to work my way through this game little by little. I have decided to play with the Gamefaq handy though, finding some of those toads can be a challenge and I don't have the luxury of spending a lot of time going back through levels, so I decided that was best. I did end up finishing it this past week, so I can finally mark another game out of the backlog. Unfortunately, as with most Nintendo games anymore, this one has more content once you finish the game. So, while I'm marking the game as complete, I still have a lot that I can go back to down the road. Overall I really did enjoy the game, it was a lot of fun.

Skylanders - Finished up Chapter 17 in the game and all I can say is WOW! This game is really starting to put up a good fight. The game has been getting progressively harder, but my Skylander's were leveling up well with the difficulty. Even though I have a lot of Skylander's I

Gameplay

Skylanders Finally had a chance to play some more Skylanders and I'm still loving the game. There is just so much content, puzzles, etc. The levels are pretty long so that has prevented me from finishing the game, but I have also put it off some because I don't want it to end. But, on the bright side, I'm looking forward to playing the 3DS version once I finish the Wii version.

Super Princess Peach I have been trying to squeeze in at least one or two levels a night to work my way through this game. Overall, I do enjoy it, the gameplay if fun, for the most part, sometimes on the easier side, but there has been a few challenges. My two issues so far is that the gameplay can be confusing sometimes, i.e. they just give you one sentence on how you are supposed to handle the next area, like a boss and it makes no sense. So, you spend a few times just trying to figure out what you are actually supposed to do. The other thing I don't really

Super Mario 3D Land I told myself I was going to stop playing this game and leave the special levels for another time... it didn't happen I have my 3DS on my desk and the game is still in the system, so whenever I have a few minutes, I pull it out and start playing it. So, I'm currently working on finishing up the castle for level 5... so, despite not wanting to play the levels I'm over half way done. They are a lot more challenging than the regular game, but they are still a lot of fun... I do miss my silver tanooki leaf, however I'm not focusing as much on trying to 100% each level, I'm focusing more on just getting through the level alive right now... at some point I may try to get all the gold coins in the levels, but not anytime soon. My biggest issue with these levels is that the difficulty is so uneven. One level I will breeze right through, then the next level I will get stuck on and not be able to do anything for a while, then

Well, I'm getting a little better, some time has still passed, but not nearly as much as before. So, hopefully my blogs will continue to get a little more frequent. I think things at work are starting to settle down, somewhat, so that should help as well. Now, if I could just pull myself away from the awesome games I have been playing lately to take a few minutes and write a blog, that would make things easier

So, this weeks blog I have no pickups As much as I love getting new gaming items to add to my collection, I recently realized that there is just no way I will ever get through all of my games. So, any breaks I can take without buying games is really helpful. Fortunately, I made some progress with my games as well, so no pickups and actually beating some games has been really helpful to my backlog. So, let's get started for this week:

Pickups:

Skylanders $49.99 I repurchased this from Amazon because they dropped the price down to $49.99, which was a decent savings over the $74+ I paid with tax at Best Buy. I was going to keep the copy from Best Buy and just let them price match it, but I decided it was safer, and saved me money, if I just went with Amazon. I talked with someone from Best Buy and they basically told me they didn't know if they could match the price and that I would have to go to the store to check, between work and other things I didn't have time to go to the store so I just bought it from Amazon.

Skylanders Whirlwind $7.99 Despite having a lot of issues with Amazons site for the next two Skylander's items, I eventually was able to place my order. I saw this became available on the site to order, but was out of stock and would be shipped when available, so I wanted to go ahead and order it so I would have it. Problem was, Amazon had everything mixed up so

Diner Dash Flo On the Go -

I really enjoyed this game. I originally didn't think I would like it because, while I enjoy puzzle games, it seemed like a game I wouldn't really like. But, I was able to download a demo on the PS3 and really enjoyed it, so when I found it cheap I decided I had to pick it up. Overall, I really enjoyed the game. I did have two issues, the first being that when you would get to moving quickly the game wouldn't always recognize all the things you told it to do. Sometimes I would have to go back several times to deliver food or something. The other issue was that I don't think they did a very good job accommodating the game on the smaller DS screen. Everything was so cramped that it was difficult to see what you were doing. There were times I couldn't do something only to find

My Week(s) In Review!

By 1NintendoFan 08-01-2011 04:52 PM
So, a little more time has past once again, so that means it is time for another update blog. Let's get started:

Predicament

As some of you may remember, back when I got my 3DS for my birthday I received Pilotwings Resort and one other game, but the other game was a pre-order. The game was supposed to be released around May, but was pushed back and has continued to be pushed back. I was getting excited because the newest release date was approaching and I was looking forward to getting another 3DS game and wanted to check the release date so I remembered to pick it up. I went online and see that it has now been moved back to November.

So, I was talking to my brother and telling him what was going on and he said that I could go ahead and switch it out for a new 3DS game (or really, any game of my choice) Best Buy has not handled the situation very well and even sent him the e-mail for the original release date telling him the game was

Game Progress:

Kirby Super Star Ultra

Last time I blogged I had just made it far enough in the Arena to open the next level... turns out, it was Helper to Heroes, which I didn't realize was another arena. Luckily, this arena didn't have as many bosses, so I was able to complete it with one helper fairly easy. Unfortunately, I can't get any further in the game because I need to make it all the way through the arena one time. So, my progress is stopped at 96% but, I decided to consider that complete enough for my liking and I'm moving on. Since all I have left to do is more arena battles, I'm happy with what I finished and will just go back and try to make it 100% down the road.

I really enjoyed this game and I'm glad I decided

Lilo & Stitch :ps1:

I downloaded this game from PSN+ so I decided I would play through it quick just to beat it since I only had 30 days. Overall, I would say this is not the best game out there. It isn't horrible, but it just isn't that great. First, it is really short, I finished it in around 2 hours and if you take away the extra time spent with frustrating glitches, it wouldn't take that long. The camera was another issue, you have absolutely no control over it and there are a lot of times where you need to adjust the camera so you can see where you are going. There is even one level where the camera is facing you because you are being chased, okay, kind of makes since.... however, you can't see what is ahead of you to move out of the way and things.

My Week In Review / Pickups

By 1NintendoFan 05-15-2011 07:13 PM
Nothing too exciting lately, but a few things to blog about for this week

Pickups

I hadn't been to Target for a few weeks, but I somehow ended up going two times within a few days. During my first trip I noticed that they changed a lot of the sections around, they didn't move anything to completely new places, but they just moved things, i.e. games that used to be on the left of the aisle may be on the right now. I don't know why they did it, but the only thing I can think of is that they were cleaning so it was just easier to move things like that, or something. Anyway, I was looking around that day and couldn't find any clearance games. I found a few clearance items, but no games, I was definitely disappointed, but figured they just didn't have any.

So, when I went back the second time, I of course looked again. This time I looked a little more carefully, checking to see if they had them in display cases as they had done this in

Pickups -

The other day I was browsing around on CAG when I happened to see in the top 10 deals that Amazon was having an Easter sale on video games. I read the post and saw everyone said it wasn't even worth looking at, so I almost didn't look at the site. But, I ended up having some free time so I decided to just stop by and see what the had, let's just say that was a mistake. My backlog progress for the year has already been pathetic, so now on top of that, I had to add quite a few games to my already huge backlog. There was quite a bit of shovelware in the sale, but I managed to find a few things I have been wanting as well as a few extras.

Plants vs. Zombies $12.99

This is a game I have been wanting for a while now, but also was kind of on the fence about. I liked the look of the game, but I normally don't

I decided today that it was finally time to do another blog. I finally have a few pickups and things so I thought it would be as good of time as any. So, let's get started.

Pickups

My birthday recently passed, so I actually have a few pickups this time. I managed to get a few gaming items from my family and also decided to treat myself to a little gift as well. So, let's get started.

For myself I decided to get:

DS Lite Duo Game Case $4.99

I'm always buying these cases because I like all the different images on them. They only had one left when I was there and I didn't have it, so I bought it. The one I bought isn't pictured but is a much smaller image, on a white case, of Mario and Luigi.

Playstation Move 3D Shot $9.99

Long Overdue "My Week In Review"

By 1NintendoFan 03-21-2011 12:51 AM
Hello once again everyone,

It seems it is getting longer and longer between my blog posts. I have been visiting CAG pretty much every day again, but I just haven't been as active lately. The last several weeks have been pretty boring, mostly just working, not too much time for gaming. That being said, this is what I have been doing over the past several weeks:

Pickups:

A Christmas Carol $4.98

I wasn't real sure about this game, but it had been some time since I last bought a game and I was really wanting to buy something. For $5 I have a hard time leaving any game I haven't really played it much, from what I did play I'm not too sure if I'm going to like it. I looked up some reviews and they weren't horrible, so hopefully it will turn into a nice surprise!

Alice In Wonderland $7.48

My Week In Review

By 1NintendoFan 02-07-2011 08:35 PM
Once again, I have managed to get behind with my blogging. So, I thought I would go ahead and combine the two blogs I'm behind on. The first will be my usual "week in review" blog and the second will be the games I'm looking forward to this year. So, let's get started:

Gaming -

Hotel Dusk: Room 215 - One of the reasons I decided to play Hotel Dusk again is because so many reviews I have heard since I played it have been extremely positive. I remember playing it and enjoying it, but not nearly as much as others. So, I decided to play it again. Honestly, after playing it the first time I never thought I would play it again because I figured I would remember everything about the story, or at least key points. However, while I was playing it, I really didn't remember much of anything from the story. So, I don't know if that is saying

My Top Five Game Deals - 2010

By 1NintendoFan 02-02-2011 08:43 PM
Updated by 1NintendoFan 02-02-2011 09:42 PM
2010 was a great year for new releases and there were so many I would have liked to pick up, I lost count. Unfortunately, 2010 didn't turn out to have nearly as good of deals as 2009 did for me. I think it is a combination of the fact I didn't look for deals as often and also the fact the stores just didn't have as many good deals. I did end up buying better games than year than in 2009, I got some good deals on good games then as well, but I did pick up a lot of games that were really only worth what I paid (if that, sometimes ) I tried to behave this year and only pick up the games I really wanted and knew I would like, for the most part I did pretty well with that, but of course a few not-so-great titles found their way in as well.

Even though I didn't find quite as good of deals in 2010 as 2009, I still managed to find some good deals on several games. I looked through all the games I picked up last year and found the games I was able to get the best deals on. They...

My Top 5 Games for 2010

By 1NintendoFan 01-31-2011 04:35 PM
I was already behind on my top lists for 2010 and ended not posting the rest of them. So, I thought I better post one more listed before February stars!

Last year I didn't have too many games to choose from simply because I bought so many older games that were on clearance. This year, I kind of had the same issue, but also didn't buy as many games, so I decided to narrow my list down to my top 5. As usual, my list is going to be a lot different than other gamers because I do play casual games more than anything. 2010 was a great year for releases and there are still many more I need to pick up. However, these are my favorite games released in 2010:

Number 5 -

Playstation Move - I'm a big fan/supporter of the Wii. To be honest, it really has nothing to do with the motion controls. While I did find them to be a lot of

My Top 15 Favorite Pickups - 2010

By 1NintendoFan 01-19-2011 07:25 PM
With 2010 coming to an end and 2011 being in full swing, I am long over due to make my blogs for my favorite things of 2010. This year I decided to start with my favorite pickups of 2010. Since I didn't buy as many games this year I decided to cut the number from 20 favorites to only 15.

I have decided to use the same standards as last year so my three major factors in determining my favorites for this year were: being unique, addictive and being a game I want to keep in my collection. Last year I decided remove the games that were released that year from the possibilities for my favorite overall pickups, but this year I decided to choose from all the games I purchased. As I mentioned, I didn't buy nearly as many games this year, so things are a little different.

So, let's get started with my top 15 favorite pickups for 2010:

Number 15 -

Backlog Progress - 2010

By 1NintendoFan 01-18-2011 04:35 PM
As many of you know that have been following my blogs for a while, last year I decided to really work on cutting down my backlog. Realizing I had 200+ in my collection that I started and never finished, I realized it was something that needed to be done (though it should have been started long ago ) I originally started this in late 2009 (around October) but didn't get more serious until a little further into 2010. So, as a recap I finished the following games in 2009:

Agatha Christie and Then There Were None
Anubis
CSI Hard Evidence
Finding Nemo / Monsters Inc

So, very few games finished for the year and certainly not the best games. But, it was a start and believe it or not, I don't think I had finished that many games in one year before just because I started games and never finished it. So while it may seem like nothing to others, for me it was quite good. I decided to set a goal for myself last year,...

The Last Several Weeks In Review!

By 1NintendoFan 01-17-2011 04:21 PM
Wow, I can't believe how much time has gone by since I was last on the site again. I realized today that I'm really far behind on my blogs, so I thought I would just post a few updates while I had some time. So, let's get started!

First, my gaming progress

My gaming progress has pretty much stopped since October. Except for a few minutes here and there, I just didn't have that much time to play games, so I didn't get to make much progress with the backlog. I don't think I finished anymore games in 2010 after my last blogs, but I was able to finish up one game this year:

Garfield a Tale of Two Kitties

This is the second time I have played through this game. The main reason I played it again was because it was next up in the backlog and even though I know I did finish this one, I thought I would try it again.
