My deals for the week of 8/17 - 8/23

By 1NintendoFan 08-23-2009 09:29 PM
Updated by 1NintendoFan 08-24-2009 02:07 AM
I had a semi-successful week this week. Again, not wanting to keep buying more and more games, it is good when I don't find too many deals. My backlog keeps getting bigger and bigger and while I'm saving money, I'm still spending a ton

So let's see, this week went like so:

On Tuesday I ran over to Target quick to look and see if there were any new markdowns from Monday. Of course, they didn't have anything new marked down. However, I managed to get:

M&Ms Adventure $13.98
Space Camp $9.98

I'm not sure if I'm going to keep either one. M&Ms doesn't get great reviews and is a tad high, but I like M&Ms stuff and the game looks fun to me. Space Camp seems interesting, but there are like no reviews for it online, so I'm still trying to decide on both games.

I went back to Target a couple of times this week, mostly trying to check if they dropped games any more, but they never seem to drop the games...

Getting Old

By 1NintendoFan 08-20-2009 02:55 PM
I've come to the realization recently that I'm getting old. The worst part, every time I realize I'm getting old, I can hear my parents telling me I would be just like them some day. I always figured I would be like my parents someday, but I just didn't think it would be this soon, but I am becoming more senile than I ever thought I would be

I first came to this realization after moving to Florida. Now, I was one of the few people that actually liked living in a small town. I liked being able to get to most places I needed to go in about five minutes time (your Wal-Mart, K-Mart, restaurants, Staples, gas stations, Wal-Greens, CVS, etc.) but, if I wanted to have more options and variety just about any store I wanted to go to was about a half-hour but usually not more than an hour. I also liked the small town environment. The town I was from was small enough that you could see someone you knew just about anywhere you went, but not so small that everyone knew each others...

My deals for the weeks of 8/3 - 8/16

By 1NintendoFan 08-18-2009 06:25 PM
As you can see I skipped a couple of "My deals..." they didn't seem to be too popular, so I thought I might just skip them. However, I've decided it is worth posting for those of you that might enjoy them, so here are my deals for the past two weeks (hopefully I won't forget anything!), enjoy.

Unfortunately I got my wish for the week of 8/3-8/9, I was hoping things would calm down so I didn't keep adding to my backlog, and they did. I went shopping and it was pretty disappointing, really didn't find much of anything, really, I didn't find anything. I found a couple of things, but nothing that interested me.

The week of 8/4-8/16 was much better. I had my first opportunity since becoming a CAG to go shopping on a Monday and boy was it worth it. I started off at F.Y.E. no new markdowns, but I managed to get:

The Spiderwick Chronicles new copy, opened, but still in good shape.

I'm not sure about the game and if it...

Game 2 From Backlog Complete!

By 1NintendoFan 08-18-2009 12:36 AM
I just finished another game from my always growing backlog

Today's game was, drum roll please (no really, I want a drum roll!)

Anubis II

This was pretty much my first deal as a CAG, I picked it up for $6 (at that time, I thought that was an awesome price ) after reading the reviews and impressions on the game I wasn't even sure if I should keep it. However, I thought it was only right to keep my first deal (and Kmart was too far away to take it back) so I kept it.

I must say, there were some pretty shaky parts and it has a lot of problems and moments (the game was really short too, if it weren't for some annoyances and some bugs in the game, you could finish this in a couple of hours. I generally just play one level and then stop so it lasts a couple of nights and I didn't play for a few nights because I played other games instead, but I would say maybe 3 hours, at the most for most people), but...

Are you CAE(verything)?

I was thinking the other day about how much fun I've had being a CAG and the excitement of being able to buy something I really want for such low prices. This got me to thinking, am I really a CA with everything

After asking myself that question, I got to thinking. As far as video games go, it is more or less justifying my gaming habit than a need to get games cheap. I would still buy a game I have to have even if it was at a high price (for example, I will probably end up buying Toy Story Mania at full price. This is a game I really want, I'm a huge fan of Toy Story and also a collector, but I also know this is a game that will likely drop quickly, especially since Amazon has already dropped the price over $10. However, I also know that Target is going to be offering the game with "Collectible 3-D Packaging" and if the package looks good, then I will have to get that one. Not knowing how long they will have that particular case, I may end up buying the...

My quest in smilie craziness

If you have read any of my other blogs, you probably already know I'm addicted to smilies. I don't know what it is, I really don't, but something about them just makes me want to use them, all. So, I thought it would be fun to see how many of them (hopefully all) I can use in one blog, so here it goes.

I was thinking about what makes me a happy gamer ( ) and a really happy gamer ( ) today. I love finding new games that I enjoy and it is always great to find games that you never knew about and try and love. There are games that make me and games that make me (not really ) and always games that make me and a few games at the end that make me to the makers. The emotions that video games provide are easily what makes me enjoy games and what also makes me a happy gamer.

Sometimes I don't even realize all the emotions involved with gaming. But when I look at what is all involved in gaming just to get an idea, it is amazing...

I think something is wrong with me as a gamer :-(

After hearing all the hype I finally decided to try Halo out. I was planning to just find a cheap used copy or possibly one from Xbox, but I was able to pick up the Limited Edition Halo 3 at FYE for $10. Since I like new games and don't think older or used ones would be much less, I decided to pick it up.

I've had it for almost a week now and had yet to put it, so I finally decided tonight to give it a try. I put it in, pretty excited based on all the followers of the series, and waited for it to load. When it was done I played a little bit (maybe 20 minutes) and then gave up. I don't know, I just didn't find it to be all that great. I will say the graphics were very nice, but other than that I just didn't see it being that great and that different (the only other game I own even close to this is Socom for the PSP and I don't see much difference, other than it being aliens or whatever those things are)

I'm going to give it another try, but in the short amount...

Finally Finished a Game from my Backlog

By 1NintendoFan 08-06-2009 04:40 PM
Updated by 1NintendoFan 08-17-2009 05:00 PM
So ever since becoming a CAG I've found that my backlog has grown pretty significantly. Considering I was going start playing through my games and only buy a new game as I finished an old game, or stack them up so I could buy the new releases that are coming, that I am most likely to pay full price for. Finding games for $10 and under is just too hard to pass up, especially when they are games I want. Sure, I could wait and hope they come down more, and they probably will, but sometimes it is just too risky and $10 is still a great price, in my opinion (I left Prince of Persia the other day at Best Buy because it was still $20 or something, I went back the next week thinking I may get it and it was already gone) Unfortunately I'm not the fastest at solving games, so this could be a long process.

I'm still trying to get through my Backlog, but unfortunately it isn't going as planned. Finally, since becoming a CAG I have solved one of the many games in my log . Of course...

My Deals for the Week of 7/27-8/2

This was by far my best week since becoming a CAG. As a matter of fact, I'm not even sure if I remember all the games I got this week , so once again I'm a very happy CAG. This week I actually found so many good deals I had to pass on several games, I believe I skipped 5 games .

I started the week taking advantage of Gamestop's sale on Tuesday. Spent half of my vacation day at home waiting for it to go online (hoping it would) so I didn't have to deal with Gamestop in store, gutted games, going from store to store, etc. In the end it finally did come up and I was able to get the three games I wanted (albeit with some issues and passing on two of the games I wanted) and luckily I didn't deliberate too long and thought about it the night before the sale since it ended up only lasting one day. In the end I got:

Wario Land Shake It: $20
Animal Crossing: City Folk: $20
Excitebots Trick Racing: $20

Fortunately they all came brand...

Do Video Games Need a Defense?

By 1NintendoFan 07-30-2009 07:01 PM

So I was browsing videos on YouTube the other day and came across a video I found of particular interest. The video can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/jon4lakers#pl.../7/uX51RKx9F0I

Basically, the question being asked is "Do video games need a defense" This really got me thinking and I thought I would write some of my thoughts regarding the issue and see what your comments are regarding this.

In the video he questions why video games need defense as compared to movies, reading, writing, playing with Lego's etc. After thinking about it, I can see the reasons why reading, writing and building could be considered a better use of time than video games and watching movies. Obviously they are more educational activities and are ways to which one can gain more knowledge, so on and so forth. Obviously some games and movies can provide a lot of educational benefits, but for the purpose of this blog I'm just going to compare video games and...

Happy CAG

My second day of vacation is turning out to be very good, so far.

Didn't get to sleep in this morning, my dog decided one day was enough. Not a big deal though since I wanted to get up early to get some games anyway. Would have been a little nicer had I not stayed up all night playing games.

First thing I did when I got up was check that Gamestop hadn't updated prices on the games I was wanting, they hadn't. I deliberated going to Gamestop to try and pick them up, but really didn't think I would be able to get it and didn't want to go over anyway. I figured I'd wait it out and see, I didn't need the games that bad anyway.

I pretty much refreshed the page about 1000 times today. Talked to my brother on the phone a little bit and told him about it, he went in once and the prices had just dropped (around 1:15pm eastern time for me), little frustrated, but I figured he found it and I was happy so to him!

Placed my order and despite...

First day of vacation

My first day of vacation is almost complete so I decided to write about it.

I started off the day by sleeping in a little, it felt good once to get up after the sun and lucky for me my dog decided it would be a good day to sleep in as well.

I didn't do too much early in the day, mostly just watched some of the shows in my DVR, couple good ones, nothing great. Watched a movie and had some pizza for lunch... yummy! instead of (sorry, always wanted to use it and didn't know what to use it for and yes, I'm addicted to smilies and board at the moment!)

Played some more Wii Sports Resort this afternoon and I'm still loving it. I've found several events I'm totally addicted to, love the Sword Dueling, Cycling and Table Tennis. No games that I really don't like, but definitely have found my favorites already. Still trying to get used to the motion plus, I think it is coming, slowly, but surely.

Spent some time shopping online,...

My deals for the week of 7/20-7/26

I had a pretty exciting week of deals this week. Not nearly as good as some I've found on CAG, but good by my standards. So, I thought it might be fun to blog each week with what deals I got in gaming, if any. So here goes entry number 1.

I started the week off with a pre-week deal (which some of you may have already read about). On Sunday I picked up my Xbox 360 from Best Buy with a price match from Target to get a $50 gift card. I also picked up Forza 2 and Mirrors Edge with a B1G1 50% off deal. So that was how last week ended.

This week was quite a bit better. I worked on creating some barcode sheets to check prices at Kmart and Target, but unfortunately struck out pretty much with those. I did, however, have a lot of fun searching for stores and trying to find deals.

On Friday I ordered a copy of Kameo: Elements of Power from NewEgg for $9.99 out the door. I wanted a copy of the game and was getting ready to order it for $20, so that was...

The blog of a sad gamer

That's right, you are reading the blog of a sad gamer right now. I was having a great time gaming, reading message boards, shopping for games, etc. and out of the blue the other day I just found myself totally burned out from gaming. I had some free time and was able to play some games once, but it just didn't sound like fun. I read some messages on the boards and nothing was of interest, even going down the isle to look at games when I was shopping wasn't as much fun.

This has made me quiet depressed. Games are pretty much my favorite thing to do and they just don't have the same results for me right now as they used to. I've found myself doing this on and off over the years and it never seems to get any easier. I still like gaming, but it just isn't the same for me right now. I haven't turned my PSP or my PS3 on in a couple of weeks, my other systems have been on, but not as much as normal. Worst of all, I just got my Xbox, so this is when I normally am at the peak of my...

My name is 1NintendoFan and I'm addicted to gaming

I've recently admitted to the fact that I am addicted to games. I think about games all day long, I want to play games when I'm doing other things, I find my hands randomly simulating game play and I think I've gone out of control.

I wake up in the morning and the first thing I think about is games. What games should I play today, what system, when will I have time. I want to start gaming right away but instead go about my daily routine, get my work done and anything else that has to be done during the day. I find myself sometimes wondering away when I should be working, instead thinking about a game I was playing and got stuck and strategizing how I will get myself past the area, or what game I'm going to play when I get home. The days sometimes feel so long, waiting to be able to play when I get done, but I get through the day knowing at the end I will be able to play until my hands are numb.

When I'm not working I find myself shopping for games, both...

My first experiences as an Xbox owner.

For me, getting an Xbox has been a long process in the making. I've been wanting an Xbox for some time, after getting a Wii I felt the Xbox was going to be the next best system for me. Every time I actually went to purchase an Xbox I chickened out. The last thing I wanted to do was invest $300+ on a new system and invest in games and accessories, only to find my system doesn't make it through the first year. I understand that all electronics are going to have issues and some are going to fail, but the percentage of failures on the Xbox always had me concerned.

About a month or so ago I finally decided I was going to get the Xbox. So I set out on a mission, I wanted to get a decent deal and find a Jasper chip. I started watching when I went to stores to find ones that were most likely to carry the Jasper and when Target offered a promotion for a $50 gift card with the purchase of an Xbox, I decided that was good enough for me. I headed out to Best Buy, price matched...

My first entry into the blogging world

Updated by 1NintendoFan 08-17-2009 04:54 PM
This is my first blog, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

I thought for my first blog I would write a little bit about myself and also tell about my first CAG moment. Here it goes!

A little bit about myself... I've been gaming for a good portion of my life now and started gaming during the days of NES. Over the years I acquired a few more systems, but have always been a big fan of Nintendo. Though I've been an on-again-off again gamer for a few years I've gotten back into gaming and have become much more serious with it. I'm not a hardcore gamer in the games I like, but I do put a good amount of time into the games I play. I try to keep up with the changing world of gaming and I do okay, but once and a while fall behind with everything that is happening.

I consider myself, somewhat, of a video game collector. I keep all of the games I buy and have not traded any of games yet and have never sold any of my systems...
