Bioshock 1, 2 and infinite. Which is the best?

By phantasyx 03-27-2013 05:56 PM
So now that I have completed the third entry in bioshock I'd like to discuss which did it the best as far as Gameplay and Story because that's what it all boils down too at the end of the day.

If you haven't completed any of these bioshocks or are still playing I'm not going to give out and spoilers.

Bioshock
The first bioshock was very original and I think overall it had the best story and effect. The plasmids that it offered were great and its gameplay was very solid for a slower paced shooter. I even got around to listening the audio tapes which I do did in all the games but these were more enjoyable and a new concept at the time.

Bioshock 2
A lot of people hated this game but I actually found it to be my favorite. The reason is simple, You play as a friggen Big Daddy! I felt that the gameplay was the best in this version because it gave you a bigger playground and had more emphasis on creating traps and preparing for a...

Metal gear Solid Revengence Review

By phantasyx 02-16-2013 12:17 AM
Wow.

Such a long anticipated wait to end up being just a embarrassing disappointment. Finished the game clocked at about 5 hours but I left the game on for a hour (maybe 2?) to do other stuff.

The gameplay is solid, if we are talking numbers I would say a good 7.5/10 and I may replay the game since the boss battles were very enjoyable.

The Story is terrible. It adds nothing to the metal gear universe. Sadly, I was hoping for some back story on Raiden or even hints of sunny and what happened with the patriots but no, not even that.

The music was mixed, while I did enjoy some of the soundtracks it varies in quality from mission to mission.

As far as the gameplay mechanics go, there is definitely some good gameplay ideas and concepts executed, especially blade mode which I hope gets copied by the industry however it was extremely difficult to control with the control setup and while you can...

The Truth about RE6:A lite review

By phantasyx 10-03-2012 01:57 AM
Updated by phantasyx 10-03-2012 04:00 AM
I just finished all 3 campaigns and I am about to finish Ada Wong's tomorrow, this is what I have to say.

I was surprised at all the negative comments about RE6, here is a little from what I experienced.

Gameplay has almost been perfected, you can now walk and shoot and even dive and fire from the ground. You can initiate melee attacks whenever you want now and even battle fist to cuffs with zombies. Only downside is the cover mechanic which is broken but you don't really have to use that. If your old school RE4 like I am, you will know that you loved trying to suplex and kick zombies all day, you get somewhat of a Madworld approach, where if the enemy is holding or impaled with something you do a special melee kill and can smash zombies heads into walls and stuff. I knife fought with Chris almost half through his campaign because it was in depth and fun.

If you even remotely liked RE5 and RE4 you owe yourself by picking up RE6. I felt...

I Hate Uncharted 3! Why is this game getting good reviews?

By phantasyx 11-06-2011 01:20 AM
Updated by phantasyx 11-06-2011 01:46 AM
So I just finished up uncharted 3 and I have to say, I hate this game. Granted I'm not really a fan of the Uncharted series to begin with, I've played all their games and its the same cookie cutter story and play style.

I'll start off with some of the things that I did like. The Graphics and set pieces are obviously amazing, along with the voice acting, its some of the best in the industry. That is it for the good.

The story is beyond cliche, this whole game literally could be the same as the previous game and nobody would notice, along with the gameplay which I think personally is repetitive and boring. There is something I noticed while playing, there are the same sequences in Uncharted 2 and 3. Train/Car scene in both games, running across crumbling bridges, Sort of a spoiler alert here but no treasure is won at the end. I really didn't enjoy this game because its platforming, shooting, and maybe a puzzle. Rinse and repeat. This entire game is SO...

Yakuza movies or really any Japanese movie pretty much uses the same actors

By phantasyx 10-29-2011 11:49 PM
Updated by phantasyx 10-29-2011 11:52 PM (Gramma time)
Its a good thing they are all awesome otherwise I wouldn't be interested like I am.

quick top picks before I continue, these are all worth owning on dvd maybe blu-ray if you can find it.

Outrage (Beat Takashi)
Dead or Alive (Takashi Miike)
Agitator (Takashi Miike)
Deadly Outlaw Rekka (Takashi Miike)
Sonatine (Beat Takashi)

The same directors yes, awesome/hilarious films altogether. I'm still working my way through this particular Genre so I am more then welcome to any recommendations, these weren't the easiest to find be it on DVD or simply finding out which would be good.

The ending in Dead or Alive is nothing like I've ever seen, actually really anything from Miike right now is like the best shit I've ever watched. I even like crows, even though I'm a Yakuza the game fan I don't know if I can stomach "like a dragon" even if Miike directed it... Who knows, he has surprised me.

Dark Souls "Goomba" Grind, great early level grind plus other tips

By phantasyx 10-10-2011 09:55 AM
I'll try to make a video today if I have the time but I thought I would explain a few things I found while playing dark souls.

Very easy grind in the beginning of the game will require some effort on your part. You can get to level 40-50+ in less then a hour, where looking at 5000 souls in less then a minute.

What you'll need is a total of 20,000 souls (I'll show you how to get 10,000 easily), a bow and some arrows and that is about it.

So proceed through the game as normal and collect 10,000 souls, get a bow and about 200 arrows and you can shoot off the red dragons tail (There are several videos about this) to get the drake sword which is one of the best swords in the game. DO NOT engage the dragon or go passed him or piss him off, if so and he leaves the area you will not get a second chance to kill him and will need to restart the game. Let him stay in his spot and proceed under the bridge. After you go up the latter there will be a...

Shadows of the Damned Review

By phantasyx 06-18-2011 01:53 PM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:29 PM
Shadows of the Damned is a awesome game that is not intended for everyone. SotD has excellent humor, great gameplay mechanics, and has some of the best pacing I've seen this year. The short Campaign, Load times/glitches and general Cheesiness of this game won't hold you back from enjoying this great title.

The story is about Garcia Hotspur (Terrible name) who is a demon hunter trying to save his love, Paula, as she has been kidnapped by the Lord of the Damned. You must use your trusty "Johnson" as you bury loads of shots into your foes. (Johnson can turn into different guns...he's not a penis)

I am a bit bias for SotD as Suda Goichi is one of my favorite developers but I think its safe to say that most people will enjoy the humor in this game or some part of it. Most of the jokes revolve around Garcia and Johnson's journey through on the underworld and they are constantly telling each other stories about themselves that opens up the character development...

Infamous Semi Review

By phantasyx 06-04-2011 07:28 PM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:30 PM
Infamous 2 has some great moments however it is not the sequel its cracked up to be. I liked the first Infamous, it was original, unique and their wasn't a lot a I disliked about it. Infamous 2 is a hollow shell of what the first one was. What it does right is keep the same formula as in combat and even adds melee which was missing as far as combat.

Infamous 2 is LONG! I've actually been playing this all week but never got a chance to write about it because I've been too tired. I'm still working on my second playthough but I'm clocked at about 20 hours for 1 playthough I've only finished clearing the first city and second city (2 islands in the game, 2 cities each.). The story telling is still good and I've got to say there was a moment in the game where finally we get a break to pop open a beer, I've been asking for that moment for a while in video games and we get it here. I know a few people are upset about the voice actor change but don't worry, you get used to it and...

LA Noire DLC Round-up

By phantasyx 05-22-2011 10:50 AM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:30 PM
You guys owe me $20 for this, seriously.

LA Noire originally planned on having a few more missions in the game. The DLC content was provided to their sponsors as incentive for pre-ordering the game however these cases were just simply cut from the game and later tacked on as DLC for GOOD REASONS (They suck and are hard).

A Slip of the Tongue - (Walmart Exclusive)
This is a Traffic cop Case where Cole Phelps must stop a trafficking ring. I've never come across a laughably harder and annoying mission. I'll try not to give away some of the story but you come across 2 annoying people you must interview that totally funk the LA Noire vibe. Along with that, I kid you not, there is at least 20 different clues and I'm sitting here wondering what the to choose while interviewing because they overlap and just keep piling up until I get to the last interview and I have 22 ing clues all of which could be right and only 1 make or break question. LA Noire Final Thoughts

By phantasyx 05-16-2011 02:47 PM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:30 PM
So now I'm about 20 hours in and quite exhausted from playing this game with no end in sight and countless dlc coming so I'll give you my final take of the game so far.

LA Noire has refreshing new concepts and idea's, great music and beautiful scenery however actual gameplay elements hamper the experience of making this a perfect AAA title.

Granted there probably isn't a game that does every single thing in the book correct or meet our expectations completely but LA Noire definitely comes close. The concepts in this game will be translated over to new and upcoming titles as it perfectly creates the detective "feel" and solving a case gives the user complete control over the outcome based on choices and mistakes. I would say this detective style gameplay will be copied like RE4's over the shoulder gameplay it will become a big hit with gamers and I commend LA Noire for making it that good.

Most people will continue playing for the excellent...

LA Noire is flipping hard!

By phantasyx 05-14-2011 08:52 PM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:31 PM
I'm still pushing through the game and I actually like it so far. For people who are still left in the dark like I was before I played the game, here are some things to take note of:

This game does not have heavy shooting in it. There are some missions that will need you to gun down people but its really watered down, don't expect RDR fun or RE here, its more for certain situations. The only other game I can compare this to is like heavy rain except its not linear at all. You don't get a neat little map with all the clues and making mistakes effects your experience. You will get upset if you are a perfectionist as you will not get every question or section right which will effect your "Stats" or experience points.

You really need to do some NON-Linear detective work. Trying to tell if people are lying, bluffing or telling the truth is REALLY HARD, Finding clues also are hard in the beginning because they don't really show up on your map. If you get...

Non-Bias Portal 2 review (Xbox 360)

By phantasyx 04-19-2011 04:42 PM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:32 PM
Just kidding, no seriously.

Portal 2 continues its success from the original Game however Loading times, Outdated Graphics, and a complex multiplayer hamper the experience.

Sadly I wish there was more, I logged a good 7 hours playing the game (because I got stuck a lot) and the multiplayer does lengthen the experience but overall it wasn't that long of a game. I can't even say I'll play the first person mode again. This game seriously has no replay value at all unless you really enjoy the story. That being said it was worth the ride.

Portal 2 has more jokes this time and introduces Cave Johnson (Creator of Aperture Science) who, for me, stole the show and I was busting out laughing waking up my baby periodically. Portal 2 also has Westley (Played by Steve Merchant) who also brings a fare amount of comedy this time. However I found GLADOS to be the least entertaining in fact very annoying as her dialog tended to "hold your hand" with...

Patapon 3 Review/Thoughts/Opinion

By phantasyx 04-14-2011 01:45 AM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:31 PM
I think if I hear another Pata Pata Pata Pon I will go suicidal.

Patapan 3 changes the mechanics up, losing a lot of the charm that the previous series had. I personally played and loved Patapon and Patapon 2, so when 3 came along naturally I assumed that I would fall in love with the game.

Wrong.. I'll need to chart this out a bit so you will be able to see the differences.

Patapon 1: Original first entry to the series, this was a freshing and new rhythm game. Overall rating from me would be a 8/10.

Visuals

Featured at maximum 9 Characters on screen with a roughly 9-10 different character types. Each Character was able to be created with a different class which would provide certain benefits.

Gameplay

Gameplay was focused on strategy, Equipment and Classes. No Multiplayer that I remember.

Patapon 2: Highly Anticipated Sequel of the original. Featured new music along with...

Playing Catherine

By phantasyx 02-19-2011 11:45 AM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:54 PM
So I imported Catherine a while back and received it just the other day.

Totally forgot I did too.

I don't know what the is going on, lots of blushing and side boob shots. The gameplay is fun, It reminds me of numblast and frogger almost as you have to run up a set of blocks that have different properties. I think I'm getting money? or something yet I don't know how to use it..

I wish I knew what the hell people are talking about though. So I be lookin for a walkthrough...I'm watching the cutscenes and they look really good, its hands down the best Cel shaded graphics trying to imitate anime I've ever seen, next to naruto for the ps3.

I've hit a snag in area 4? So I'll be trying it again later. Lets all Pray for a US release or someone to translate it.

If anyone is looking to import it, the game is VERY playable, you just don't know what the is going on., story wise.

I am not a fan of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

By phantasyx 02-10-2011 06:01 PM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:34 PM
Before I start I could not resize the images, Spoiler tags are for images that were really big. There are many spelling and grammatical errors as I am typing this quickly and do not care to go back and touch up. I also did not comment on every aspect like the side missions, music or online play because of the limited time I play games.

I am not a fan of the new Marvel Vs. Capcom (I have the PS3 Version), The visuals are muddy, the gameplay is too streamlined and easy and the characters don't feel like they have balance.

The first and second MVC games all used sprites and movies from previous games to save on time and money, they originally were hand drawn and weren't that hard on the eyes as most of everything was 2D so you could tell if a hadoken was coming at you. MVC3 is all in 3D and Cel Shaded, but not the nice kind of Cel Shading. I want to say they reused the Tatsunoko vs Capcom engine and built off that. This game is similar to the plight of...

Dead Space 2 Final Thoughts

By phantasyx 01-25-2011 11:20 AM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:41 PM
So I'm almost done with the game (Chapter 10? Idk how many chapters are in this game, I could only be half way.....no there are 12), but I put the difficulty on Hard? Its not called that but its essentially hard as hell for me.

I won't beat around the bush, this game is GOOD go buy it if you can't decide or rent if preferably. But I recommend the Normal mode unless you want to get scared and/or angry as hell.

Mostly I'm just going to nit pick about the things that I just couldn't ignore good and bad.

The Good
There are a few new enemies, I don't know there Christian names but I'll just label them by what they are,

The Children - They fight in packs, they only take 1 or 2 bullets to kill but they use hit and run tactics and gang up on you, very difficult but fun to fight.

The Predators - Probably the most scary creature in the whole game, so you already know all the monsters just run as fast as they can toward...

Playing Dead Space 2

By phantasyx 01-22-2011 04:50 PM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:42 PM
Well I played about 3 hours and am taking a break now. Just a FYI, if you like shooters or Horror or action games IMO this is a must buy, also check out the first if you haven't played it yet (its $10 bucks).

A few things without spoiling the story, I originally played the first on ps3 and now I'm playing the second on xbox. I don't really see any differences however I keep pressing punch instead of stomp which is really annoying.

The game is great bababa we all know that, but after playing through the first game like 5+ times I have to say those dead necromorphs on the ground aren't fooling me at all.

The children and puckers I've noticed are new to this game (I haven't really been following the progress/preview stuff), the puckers aren't really scary or that bad and when they get puke on you it just makes you slow.

The Children on the other hand are scary as hell, you don't get the pulse gun until a bit after you first encounter...

My Thoughts on Star wars the Force Unleashed 2

By phantasyx 10-24-2010 03:21 PM
Updated by phantasyx 06-22-2011 12:43 PM
I just finished the game last night and I am left feeling a bit mixed about the game experience. (choose the darkside first but looked up on Youtube the Lightside? ending after feeling so crummy, so that did affect me a bit.)

I won't Spoil anything but this game is nothing short of amazing. The controls are solid this time and the Graphics make this game a must play! Those grainy visuals of the previous game are no more and the entire game looks and feels like a movie. During the first 30 Minutes of the game at least every 5 Minutes I uttered a "Wow" from the visuals and the gameplay being soo tight and precise.

You can pretty much do everything you did in the last game only you feel more powerful from the camera placing you right into the action. I've probably impaled 50+ people then electicuted them and threw them off a cliff and never felt bored once doing that.

Now all the visuals and gameplay couldn't save the repeditive nature...
