PlayStation Vita FEB First Impressions |
|
So, even though I'd said to myself to wait until Black Friday this year before getting the Vita, the early adopter in me took over when Gamestop ran that 40% trade in promo. I caved and took a bunch of stuff in, and preordered the Vita FEB. I gotta say, I'm happy that I did, as it's one sexy piece of hardware.
Sexy, but a fingerprint and lint magnet I've only picked up Hot Shots Golf, and Wipeout. Obviously Wipeout is the more graphically impressive of the two. The Lil Deviants game is certainly a tech demo, but fun in small bites nonetheless. I was very happy that using the Content Management software, I was able to transfer my PSP saves that I'd transferred to my PC to my Vita with minimal effort, so fear not. Only problem, was that I had to rebuy my Tactics Ogre from the PSN store, which is kinda BS, as I'd bought the UMB not that many months ago. Having played with this since Wednesday,... |

Hey ma! I'm reading CAG on the shitter! |
|
...or why I bought an ipad2.
So even though I couldn't come up with an overly compelling reason to get one, coupled with the fact that I am an Android phone owner. I picked up an iPad, since I am a gadget guy, with the fact that the android tablets dont have half the apps that apple's does, (Netflix, Hulu, and HBO I'm looking at you). And a coworker was picking one up. Hence techno envy, I caved. Well so far so good, and I must admit that it's become my main browser while sitting on the couch. Pretty cool stuff. And yes it's pretty cool I can sit on the can and still get the full browsing experience. |

Kicking World of Warcraft

So, I've finally done it, I've canceled my WoW account, effective middle of next month. It's been quite a ride; this last year. I went from rolling my priest (for the now defunct CAG guild), to hardcore raiding like 4 nights out of the week. And while nothing can really compare to the feeling of doing raids with 24 other people; think Massive Co-op. There was, like anything else a price to be paid.
I can hardly think of any other game, that at once rewards you, with fun, loot, excitement and a general sense of accomplishment for doing the seemingly impossible (SSC/ZA I'm looking at you) and at the same time fill you with a sense of dread and regret (for all the time you've spent). At the end, I can only tell you it was horrible, rushing home from work, only to login to the game, and raid until like 1am. I work from 7am to 6pm, so getting home, seeing the wife for merely half an hour, and not going to bed till around 1:30 was not, in any sense of the word healthy. Not to... |

The CAG Effect

I know it’s been talked about before, or maybe it hasn’t, but without a doubt the little corner of the internet we all call “home” has had an undeniable effect on us all. What I’m talking about is quite simply “Too much of a good thing”, is it better to have loved and lost, or would it have been better to have never known the sting of an STD from having so many partners? Ok, enough with the pretense.
All I’m trying to get at is we as CAG have established such a powerful community, that we have attracted so many attractive deals, that we find ourselves spending more than we would have otherwise. On a daily basis, at least for me, I see at least one or two deals that I would love to take advantage of. In fact just last week, I HAD to take advantage of the TRU buy one get one “free” deal on PS3 games. Did I need to buy two more PS3 games? Nope! But I did anyway, cuz it was such a good deal, I’m currently waiting on Ratchet and Clank, and Battlefield; Bad Company, and I don’t... |

WTF is GamingLagoon.com? |
|
I saw the post about free crap in one of the forums. I sorta read the OP, and then saw that it was like 80+ pages, holy ish! So I check out the site, and it's all friggin vague, I really hate sites like that, makes me think that it's gonna steal my identity and move to maybe Utah and start a new family and ruin my credit (whats left of it at least). I also see that it requires an internet connection and that u should sign up on a PRIVATE computer? WTF man is this thing going to put intarweb virai(plural for viruses?) on my teh pc?
So thats scary enough to me to wane my interest in signing up, my inbox is already deluged by a glut of unneeded emails anyways. I get the whole idea of advertisers paying for my goodies, and all, but the whole deal reminds me of those X-ray glasses adverts from all my old spiderman comics and such. I got those damn glasses and I could see through ANY blouses or sweatpants. Whats a guy to do? Call me old fashioned i guess. |

Oh Boy. |

Ok Ok, I gotta go with my gut here, you know what they say about first impressions. First off, this blog feature is pretty cool, but...
I gotta say i don't care for the new page title font for "Cheap Ass Gamer", it doesn't seem big enough, and kinda blends in with everything else, definitely hafta make that bigger or something. Also I'm a believer that your website title should always link you back to the main page. I dunno man, the front page used to be a great, i could quickly see all the latest posts in the forums, and such. I understand that it's still there, but maybe it has something to do with the placement of the ad, it just seems off. If you could perhaps move the ad over to the right of the forum posts. Well, it's only one man's opinion, kudos on trying something new. |
