Maybe a Japan trip in May

By skyknight 04-04-2011 01:03 AM
Members here may remember me about my family's dilemma about a family trip to Japan that was to take place before the earthquake struck. Well, we are trying to sort things out, as my bro hopes to reschedule some reservation for hotels in Kyoto and Osaka.

Already, all of us have made a significant donation for the Red Cross; I participated in Game Informers charity auction and won one of the bundles they offered. My youngest bro is scheduled to return back to the US next week after celebrating his birthday with his Japanese host family and classmates.

Since the plane tickets and JR Pass are still in-affect - we won't get full refund if we canceled right now, my family is trying to figure out if a trip in May is feasible.

I would like to hear from members that are living in Japan on how are things are. One of my bro's Japanese friends do hope tourists can come to Japan, as not to see Japan as a country in ruins and un-hospitable, but as to see...

Not going to Japan

By skyknight 03-17-2011 11:49 PM
Well folks, got a message from the University of Minnesota, following the warnings issued by the Department of State, that all U of MN students in the Tokyo region are to return immediately, this includes my youngest bro as well.

So that is the last straw for my mom, as there is no reasons for us to be in Japan - one main goal was to meet our bro and greet his host family; FYI all members of his host family are safe. Now comes the waiting game for my bro to gather his belongings and come back to the US, and he is pissed which is understandable, since he planned 1 whole year to study in Japan. But I think he should be grateful that he, his classmates, and his host family are well; he should know that some Americans that are teaching English in Japan have not been found/contacted.

I know members here have commented on my previous blog post, and I did talk to a couple of my friends in Japan, and I did come to the conclusion that we should postpone the trip as...

My family is still on for trip to Japan...

By skyknight 03-14-2011 02:19 PM
As some of you know just last week, I was writing on this blog about preparing for a trip to Japan, then the tragic earthquake happened.

My family has been monitoring the situation, as my bro is an exchange college student over there (he was in Taiwan with my other bro when quakes happened). I have check other sites to make sure that people that I know are safe from the quake. But I know the cleanup for the aftermath will take months if not a couple of years.

My family has been pondering if we should scale back our trip, though the original plan was to visit Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. My bros think we could start from Osaka and move east. I am wondering if this is a good time for visitors to go to Japan, as I would like to hear from members that are living in Japan - would tourists still be welcomed in the other parts of Japan that are not severely affected by the quake?

Peace to all

Getting ready to head out to Japan next week

By skyknight 03-10-2011 12:06 AM
Well, I been away from this for almost a month, got several things keeping me busy. Did a job interview for a corporate position, which I didn't get. Helping a bit with my bro for his trip to Taiwan (a place that we haven't been in 15 years)...

So, next week, my mom and I will be going to Japan to meet up with my bros (one is in a college exchange program, the other will fly from Taiwan to JP). Since my 2 bros have previous experience in Japan, my mom and I will be following them. We got the JR pass ordered, and my bros have 2+ yrs of studying Japanese, and I took 2 years of Japanese in high school.

My bro's plan is visit Tokyo, Yokohama, Kyoto, and Osaka within 2 weeks (he likes to do things his way) and we will follow!?

I do know several members of CAG have living experiences in Japan, any places that I should go? I do hope to get a TF Alternity A-02 Blade Silver Megatron and the ltd Blue/White PSP-3000, if I can afford it (I currently...

Finishing SMT: Devil Survivor

By skyknight 08-25-2010 11:27 PM
OK,

Well over a year after I got this game, I finally beat SMT: Devil Survivor for the first time. Man, I never thought that I was ever going to finish any game after college, and I kept on buying new games for my systems. But now I am limiting the amount of games that I am buying, and figure out what games I am keeping.

Now I gotta figure out which game to beat next.

Hitting the 3-0 soon, and what after that?

By skyknight 08-16-2010 12:02 AM
OK, I just turned 29 over the weekend, and boy do I start to feel old! As I try to reflect what has happen over the last 14 years after I moved back to the US after living in Taiwan for about 6 years.

At this point in time, I don't what the expectations that I should have, as the job market is tough; and figuring out what do I have - especially with my gaming library that I never expected to be this large. Is there something more to this?

So to the readers that have hit the 3-0 mark and beyond, what is it about hitting that point in life. How many of you were married and had kids by that time? Me, I'm starting to wonder how many games should I limit myself to, and think about if I am ever going to finish half of the games that I own.
