VVVVVV is an insanely hard platforming puzzle game where you are captian of a ship and because of some freak accident, you lose your crew.
It's your job to find them and find out what the accident was. Basically, it's a pretty open world where you navigate different areas and try your best not to die.
The gravity flipping mechanic is amazing. Though the puzzles will make you hurt. A fun thing about the game is you will die. The way you navigate the spikes really makes you think before you leap into danger. Of course recovery time when you die is
You will die. A LOT. It's all trial and error type game. I think I died around 1100 times. The worst level for me death wise was called "..not as I do". I died around 100+ times.
The old school Atari like graphics make me smile. So nice to see a simple game like this that can make the content rather than the graphics stand out. If you care about graphics. Stay out.

Every year I take time to write about my favorite games I played this year. Obviously I played games like Link's Awakening and Super Mario World but I think reviewing newer games is more fun. I'll start with five honorable mentions, one awful game, and the top 10.
Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
This is the best Kingdom Hearts in terms of game play. Better than the ones on PS2, DS, GBA, anything. The visuals are amazing. The story is fine (It's Kingdom Hearts, the story has been done to death, light vs darkness).
The controls and camera are great. I bought a PSP for the chance to play this game. It's so, so good. I was really impressed with it and I wish they would put out Kingdom Hearts 3 instead of more prequels and in betweeners.
What kept it from the top 10: It's not Kingdom Hearts 3. Also, the story is split into three parts so you have to play the game three times but the problem is the story...

I have a fairly large backlog. So to fix this I have taken a few measures but I keep buying cheap games and I need to cut it out.
The first step is that I will be on a spending freeze until I clear quite a few out of my backlog.
The second step is I will be reviewing the games I play so I can reflect on them. I remember buying games when I was younger and didn't have hardly any cash yet I fell in love with some great games but I played them so much because I had so few.
Now that I have the cash I just buy games and I let them sit for years. For example, I bought Borderlands used in January, I haven't touched the damn thing. It's never been in the PS3.
I plan on making a larger dent this coming year in my backlog but as it stands right now here is the list I am going by:
1. Skyward Sword
3. The first of the Prince of Persia Trilogy PS3 set
1. Link's Awakening...

So far this Holiday season I have gotten quite a few goodies. With my birthday the 12th of November it's best to either give me cash or gift cards because I can use them on things like Black Friday and get more bang for my buck.
I got my first taste of holiday goodness when my Aunt gave me $105 (hidden throughout tons of joke gifts) for my birthday and her Gameboy Advance SP (Now I can play my old Gameboy games, yay!).
With that money I bought the following:
