My Half-Life Let's Play, Backlog Progress and other stuff.

I started doing a HL Let's play the other day after watching a fairly amusing Nightmare House 2 Let's Play by a Youtuber called MasterofAudioSurf, it's not the best in the world, but I like how it's progressing.
Just doing some shameless self promoting, don't mind me~ Last week I bought a couple games from Amazon for a steal; Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Valkyria Chronicles and the Tomb Raider Trilogy. It saddens me to say I (now) have 5 TR games in my backlog. I need to get crackin' on those before I forget all about them. I've been working on Drake's Fortune non-stop since I got it, I've already beaten it and collected all the trophies save for one you get for beating the game on Crushing. Looking forward to eventually getting that, judging by how long it took me to beat Crushing in U2. ![]() Aside from some casual gameplay sessions, I've barely made any progress in SMT: Nocturne or SMT: Devil Survivor. Not looking forward... |

Need some PC game suggestions for my lil' brother.
By Oaxan 07-11-2011 05:26 PM

As the title says, I need some games for my brother.
Normally this wouldn't warrant a blog post, but my brother is a special case. He has Asperger's syndrome and is quite afraid of talking to people irl, so naturally he doesn't have any friends online or off and is only comfortable talking to me. Before I found out he had Asperger's, I hooked him up with Minecraft Classic and he seems to love it, though our computers aren't strong enough to run it very well. Long story short, he's beginning to seclude himself even more through Minecraft. All he does all day is sit on his bed with his laptop and play it, rarely even paying attention to me or our parents. Right now, he needs a change of scene. I'm thinking a game that focuses on interaction and has strong customization. All advice and suggestions are welcome. |

Wind Waker review (regular blog is down) |

My normal blog is down, so I'll just leave this here for the time being.
I'm the one that mostly reviews old games and makes completely unfunny jokes with little actual reviewing. Feel free to ignore, rage, be confused or otherwise. ... |

My Retron 3 and lack of Genesis and SNES games.
By Oaxan 06-14-2011 03:13 PM

My NES gave me the GSoD.
I found myself with a powerful urge to play Yo Noid! and then it ing died...I tinkered around with it for about a week before giving up, I was crushed. Now, about a year later, I finally get around to buying a replacement, the Retron 3. NES, SNES and Sega Genesis, everything all packed into one small, red, ugly but functional console. I had read a lot about the IR controllers that come with it being extremely retarded, so I went ahead and got a Genesis controller and an SNES controller too. My only problem now is that I don't own a single Genesis or SNES game. Looks like I'll have to scout around for something, I'd really love to get Earthbound, but I can't afford that $100+ pricetag I see everywhere. Even if I found it on CAG for considerably less, I'd have no way of paying anyone because of my lack of a paypal account. I guess I had better hit... |

Backlog avoidance... and violence.

I find myself avoiding the completion of Suikoden.
I don't know if it's simply a coincidence that I'm finding something else to do, or if I'm unconsciously forcing myself away from it. I managed to stay on track for about a week, getting out of bed, turning on my PS3, starting up the game, 13 hours later turning it off and going to bed. But for the past 5 days, I've done a number of things to avoid it all together, such as coming to CAG, browsing 4chan... Even going so far as to start up a server for Star Wars Battlefront II and playing it all day today with a dozen other people. I'm home all day, everyday. I have NO life to speak of, so why am I finding it so hard to continue playing this friggin' game?! It's not like I'm stuck anywhere, I really love playing it and I shouldn't even have to pause to look at a cheat sheet. I'm starting to think that I'm growing out of video games in general... Or maybe just the offline ones, seeing as I had a blast in Battlefront... |

Am I the only one...?

When I started playing Suikoden a lengthy 30 seconds ago (Yes, I'm stalling because I'm very unmotivated to play it), I started thinking about things I did ritualistically in video games.
For example; if given the choice of naming my main character, I will almost always name him/her "Hiro" (An obvious play off "Hero") Then I started thinking about customization... I always boost my ATK and PWR stats to the max first before upgrading anything else. I never use the ultimate weapons. I will always change my character's default look. (DQVIII's Jessica, for example) Likewise, I never go on side quests unless necessary, but if there's a bonus dungeon or whatever post-game, I'll dominate it without a second thought. If there's voice chat, I turn off my mic and just listen. (great for U2) And, finally, I rarely play a game listed on Gamespot with a score lower than a 7.0. (Don't judge me! D:<) Anyone else have quirky gaming habits... |

Portal 2 |
![]() I think the above pic pretty much tells you why I'm excited for P2. Other then being a Portal junkie and practically jizzing in my shorts when I heard about the Cross-platform multiplayer, I'm really excited to play Co-Op with my internet buddies. I mean, who doesn't love Portal? (besides all the FPS $$$s who think Halo, SOCOM or CoD are actually ORIGINAL or "good") If all goes well with the SteamxPSN thing going on, I wonder if one day we'll be able to play our bought Steam games and play them on the PS3? I'm not talking a port or anything, but more like streaming it to the PS3, and having the controller mapped to the various keys on the keyboard, or just jacking in a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to the PS3 and playing from there. (forgive me if I've stated something impossible or stupid, but it's just a thought :P) And here's some Portal 2 promo... |

'Bout time I started on my backlog... |
|
I gotta say, over the past year I've pretty much ignored all my video games.
(focusing on Anime instead) Even though I went out an bought new games every once in awhile, I never actually got to playing them seriously. So I decided that I would drag my ass out the ball pit and sit down and GAME for once. So during the next several weeks, I'm gonna do nothing but play like it's the end of the world. (I may have to multi-game, meaning playing two or more games simultaneously) I'm putting on hold: Looking for a job. My girlfriend. Boxing training. Anime. Part-time app development. Minecraft. Family. (I will still be on CAG every once an awhile) My backlog, 76 games high: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/list.ph...iew&listid=709 Wish me luck! I'll report back after I've whipped about 5 games. *Update* So, it's a bit more then 76... It's actually more like... |

PSN's Updated TOS?
By Oaxan 04-01-2011 01:50 PM

Normally, I'm not one to read the Terms or Service and almost always just hit Accept as fast as I can. But today when I got the message telling me to re-accept them, I figured SOMETHING, SOMEWHERE in it got banned. So I gotta ask, "What's different?".
I scrolled down through the big fat wall of text and came across this: "You may not sell, buy, trade, or otherwise transfer your Online ID. Sony Online Services account or any personal access to Sony Online Services through any means or method, Including by use of web sites." Does this mean our Gamesharing days are over? Or am I just being paranoid? |

Batman: Arkham Asylum - PS3
By Oaxan 03-06-2011 01:52 AM
|
![]() So I decided to stop being a lazy as for once for a few minutes and write a review that should have been written ages ago. That's right, Batman: Arkham Asylum is now under my control! BWAHAHAHA! First, I gotta say, I have the Special Edition (You know, the one that came with the Battarang Model?) and it had a little book inside with profiles on all the inmates of the asylum, I pretty much went into "fanboy happy rage" mode as soon as I started reading. So be warned, I'm in a semi-good mood just thinking about this game! Alright, so whaddya do when you thought you were just visiting an insane asylum to drop off a patient, but suddenly you find yourself in the middle of a demented clown's wet dream? You kick some ass, that's WHAT! The freeflow battle system combined with the intelligent AI and beautiful (okay "Gothic") world makes... |
