Black Ops, so much potential but still a let down. Spoiler Alert

By JackReacher44 03-17-2011 01:12 AM
Black Ops was so anticipated and I received it very well, it did not however hold up to the test of time like Modern Warfare 2 did for me.
It's campaign was great I will admit; it truly drew you into the game's atmosphere. When Woods sacrifices himself for the team it actually made a lump grow in my throat, so that's how I know it got my attention. However, it did not bod well for replay value. The whole story was based off of anticipation and as a replay the anticipation is lost for good.
Also, the hardest level went beyond hard into the impossible. I mean, I beat WaW on the hardest level (including blowtorch and corkscrew) but Black Ops kicked my @ss when I was trying to ignite the napalm barrels. Hard should mean challenging, not tear your hair out frustration.
But the worst part of the game... The online gaming community. The people who flocked to this game expected to have Modern Warfare's gameplay style and were not given it in the least. For instance, weapons...

Homefront day one review, gotta be fair. Spoiler Alert

Give it credit folks, Homefront didn't screw up any more than Activision, Treyarch, Dice, or EA did with any of their own games. The server problems are not the end of the world and should be fixed quite soon. this being said however... I've got some major issues with Homefront.
Homefront may deliver a large scale combat feel, or at least it tries. 32 people still don't seem like enough to enjoyable play on some of the larger maps and 16 can be completely overcrowded on others.
Spawn points for objective games seem very strange, you'll be spawned 2 minutes from the nearest objective one time, and then right at the door of another the next time.
Weapons seem nerfed for some and overpowered for others. I can easily unload clips into enemies but never get a kill; or even worse, never get a hit marker from 5 feet away. But when they turn around and take aim, it's instant death for me. I may not be a "god" player or MLG but I certainly don't suck badly enough...
