I've been out of school for awhile now (I'll be 33 this year), so most current pop trends are so far off my radar they may as well be F-117s. Even when I was in school all those years ago, I was more interested in the older stuff musically (David Bowie, the Beatles) than anything off the current Top 40. It's not that I didn't like that music, I just had no interest in purchasing the compact discs. I felt like pop artists had maybe one or two good songs that I already heard ad naseum on the radio and the rest of the album tracks were probably filler.
I went to the midnight opening of the Hunger Games last night solely based on the critic reviews it's received on Rotten Tomatoes. I don't have any family members, friends, or work acquaintances who are fans of this franchise. A major clue on what kind of audience I was watching this movie with was revealed when the trailer for the latest Twilight movie came on. Each character reveal in the preview was met with audible affections...
