Here's what I have together so far. I already have a HDD, CD drive and PSU. Thinking about using the same case too. Let me know what you think:

Ubuntu

I built a system for the sole purpose of running Ubuntu. As a lifelong Windows user, I'm not really sure what to do with it. Any suggestions on some cool uses for it beyond surfing the Web or word processing?

Flea Market Finds Part V: Games, Guns and Garbitch
By Temporaryscars 04-29-2012 04:14 PM
|
|
Well, it's springtime, and that means flea market season is just beginning once again. It technically started two weeks ago, but constant rain delayed the start of the season a bit. I'm really hoping this year is better than last year, which only resulted in a few trips due to constant rain.
Big Box O' Old Games & Other Garbage Asking Price: $3 Paid Price: $3 No haggling on this one. I saw a box full of old PC games and decided to take a look. I saw a bunch I wasn't familiar with, but one title did catch my eye. Space Quest I: Roger Wilco in the Sarien Encounter was there and complete in box, and for an old adventure game collector such as myself, this got my attention. Unfortunately, the game is on those old 5.25" floppy disks...you know, the ones that were actually floppy...the game wasn't priced so I was going to pass on it, until the seller came up and offered the entire box to me for $3. With that in mind, I decided to buy it.... |

Looking For That Perfect RTS
By Temporaryscars 02-24-2012 09:26 PM
|
|
I could really use your help. I'm a big fan of Stronghold and I've been trying to find a similar RTS, one that mixes combat with economy and I have yet to find anything quite as good. I tried Civ V but it was too boring, I tried Rise of Nations but it required too much juggling, I couldn't keep track of everything that was going on at once. So, I need something similar to Stronghold, but nothing as in-depth as Rise of Nations. Suggestions?

Problems With My VGA Box and Dreamcast - Please Help!
By Temporaryscars 02-21-2012 05:18 PM
|
|
So, I bought this VGA switch box for my Dreamcast. It's the retro-bit brand, but whatever. Long story short, I received it in the mail, tried it out, the games looked great except it didn't produce the color red. I tried different cables, different displays, all missing red. Fine, I RMA it through the ebay seller and they send me a new one. I get it today, and there's no picture at all. On my PC monitor, it says "Not Supported," on my Panasonic Plasma, it's just a black screen. The audio works, so I know it's starting up and playing the games, there's just no video.
Any suggestions? |

Islam Can't Stop The Bacon Train
By Temporaryscars 10-18-2011 11:56 PM

Anyone watch Homeland? If not and you plan to, stop reading, thar be spoilers ahead.
Now that that's over with, did anyone notice in the latest episode that Brody cooked bacon and eggs for his family? While you don't see him actually eating the bacon, you do see him touching it and then licking the grease from his fingers. If he really did convert to Islam, wouldn't that be a pretty big -up on his part? |

Time to Unload My PS3 Burden

How much do fat 80GB PS3s go for these days? I never play games on mine and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to sell it and just buy a stand alone BR player.

Flea Market Finds Part IV! Sega Saturn Edition
By Temporaryscars 05-29-2011 02:50 PM

Well, the shitty upstate NY winter has finally pissed off and the warm weather is back which means the return of flea market season! Went for the first time today and, while I didn't hit as many goldmines as I usually do, it wasn't halfway bad.
![]() First up, a Halo novel. I actually enjoy these quite a bit and I wouldn't even consider myself a huge Halo fan (I play the single player games, but skip the multiplayer). I usually pay around $5 for these things at retail but the guy only wanted $0.25 for it so I jumped on it. Next, two large ammo cans. Nothing much to say here. I need some, the lady asked $7 a pop. Now, normally I'll haggle anything more than $3 just for the fun of it, but the thing with ammo cans is that there are always buyers for them and her asking price is the going rate for them (at least in this area), so I didn't bother to haggle. Lastly, a... |
