Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: The Disappearing Abercrombie

By Krymner 09-20-2010 07:37 PM
As I mentioned in my previous blog, one of the Abercrombies have disappeared. Well, actually, I'm not sure if he is legitimately missing or what. What I do know is that I have not seen the dude's red Jeep Wrangler in the parking lot for about 2 weeks. Also, his parents have called the office more than several times looking for him. The Big Burrito is tired of telling them that she has not seen him and does not know where he is, especially since his mother got kind of rude to her the last time she called.

So, where has the Abercrombie went?

Today, I was up in the Abercrombie's apartment to change the AC filter. One of his roomies was there; the dark-haired dude that is the most obnoxious of the group.

"Where's the other dude that drives the Jeep?" I asked him as I was in there changing the filter.

The Abercrombie just gave me a blank expression. "Uh, I don't know," he responded....

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Return of the Jedi

By Krymner 09-16-2010 07:31 PM
So very sorry for the lack of updates and for leaving everyone hanging on what is going on with the sell of our apartment complex. First tho, I'd like to thank everyone for their words of encouragement and support.

The last couple of weeks, I've been spending almost all of my free time helping my brother build a garage, and when I get home I've just been too exhausted to do anything other than collapse. I haven't even played a video game in almost two weeks and have barely even had time to check email, CAG, or anything else online.

Anyway, enough excuses. Crazy shit's been going on, and it waits for no one.

  • The Big Burrito is still in full-on freak-out mode. She is totally stressed out about possibly loosing her job (despite the people from the new company telling her that they won't fire anyone unless they are "a problem".)
  • The new company sent two groups to our apartment complex this week. One got

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Sold

By Krymner 09-01-2010 05:55 PM
This morning, the Big Burrito called us into a staff meeting. Her tone was serious and the overall mood of her office room was oppressive. Something major was going down. Me and Mr. Wizard sat down alongside the leasing manager, the three of us wondering WTF was going on now.

"We're being sold," the Big Burrito told us.

The company that owns our apartment complex is based in Memphis, TN. They are selling the complex (and our sister complex that is further off campus) both to a smaller company that is wanting to expand. They are based somewhere in Pennsylvania.

"So, are we getting canned?" We all asked.

The Big Burrito only shrugged her shoulders. "The new owners will be here the week after next (Sept. 13) to tour their new property and evaluate all the employees."

So, what is this going to mean? Hmm. I'm not sure, myself. Hopefully, none of us will loose our job, but right...

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Snitches Get Stitches

By Krymner 08-31-2010 06:47 PM
Yes, more crazy drama at the apartment complex I work at. This new batch of college kids are certainly being entertaining, if anything.

This past weekend, this one dude came home and found, much to his surprise, two of his new roommates dealing drugs in the living room. It was just a pot deal, but this guy didn't want anything to do with it. He told his drug-dealing roomies that he was gonna snitch.

"Snitches get stitches," they said to him, threatening him with violence if he told on them.

The threat didn't work as well as they had hoped it would. Late Monday afternoon, he came by the office and told the Big Burrito all about it. The Big Burrito called the police, and had the two boys arrested, finding drugs and drug paraphernalia on both of them. Also, that's grounds for eviction, so she immediately started filing paperwork to toss them out on their butts.

But wait, that's not the end of the drama. ...

Resident Evil Marathon: RE Zero 2

By Krymner 08-29-2010 08:34 AM

The story in Resident Evil Zero takes place right before the original Resident Evil game, following the exploits of S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team. The main character you control is Rebecca Chambers, a rookie and the team's medic. Rebecca also shows up in RE1 (if you play as Chris) and in the Mercenaries mode in RE5: Gold Ed. Here's some trivia about Rebecca you may or may not know:
  • Rebecca's overall appearance in RE0 was modeled after popstar Ayumi Hamasaki, who was the official spokeswoman for Biohazard 0 in Japan.
  • Rebecca is the shortest female main character in the Resident Evil series.
  • Rebecca is the sole survivor of S.T.A.R.S. Bravo team after the mansion incident.
  • In Resident Evil 2, if you check the S.T.A.R.S.. group photo in the RPD S.T.A.R.S. office, Rebecca is missing. This is because she wasn't hired when the group photo was taken.
  • Rebecca can play the piano, though

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Digger War Shanking

By Krymner 08-27-2010 11:07 PM
The Abercrombies had another party last night, and made another mess all around their apartment building. That's another $25 fine, for a total of four fines now for littering. They also broke several beer bottles in the parking lot, so I was sweeping up shards of glass this morning and got a front row seat to the Digger War brawl that went down.

The Can-Man had his bike parked against the side of a dumpster, and a big 30-gallon trash bag almost full of cans leaning against the bike. He had his head stuck into the sliding side door of the dumpster, and would periodically toss out a can or two over his shoulder and onto the ground.

Meanwhile, Payday sat on his back porch, smoking a Black & Mild slim cigar.

A 90's-model Nissan pick-up truck pulled up in front of the dumpster, and two black dudes stepped out. They were good-sized boys, young enough to be living at the apartment complex. What with all the new...

Resident Evil Marathon: RE Zero 1

By Krymner 08-26-2010 11:57 PM

Zero isn't as loved as many of the other titles in the Resident Evil collection, but I think it stands well on its own. Despite its many problems, there is enough there to justify this title to stand first in the line on the shelf that keeps my RE Gamecube collection.

It is by no means one of my personal favorites. My biggest gripe is the control options. All of the other Cube RE games (except RE4) have a control option (control option C) where you push the R shoulder button to move forward, instead of using the tumbstick up to go forward. Zero does not have that option.

I believe Zero's musical score is probably the lowest of the series. Not that it's bad, it just doesn't have anything real memorable. I'm really looking forward to eventually seeing how different the sidekicking is in comparing Zero to RE5. Billy vs. Sheva?

Zero was the first Gamecube...

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Abercrombies vs. Mr. Wizard

By Krymner 08-26-2010 06:19 PM
The last blog several readers were surprised the Big Burrito was a woman. Yes, she has always been a woman as far as I know, sorry if I lead anyone to believe otherwise.

Here's another new revelation for you: Mr. Wizard is hispanic. Si. He was born on the Texas side of the Mexico/US border, and grew up on a cattle ranch. (The Big Burrito told me he used to give donkey tours of the Grand Canyon, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. )

This morning, Mr. Wizard was cleaning the pool as he does every morning. The Abercrombies came into the pool area and started taking off their shirts and calling each other "brah!". But you see, the pool doesn't open until 10am. This was at like 8:30am. I was totally surprised they were even awake that early.

"Hey," said Mr. Wizard, almost politely. "You guys have to leave, the pool isn't open yet."

"What you say, brah?" said the black Abercrombie....

Resident Evil Marathon: Press Any Button

By Krymner 08-25-2010 07:24 PM

Resident Evil is without a doubt one of my favorite game series of all time. Before I first played it, a friend described it to me as the 3D evolution of the point-and-click adventure game. It has evolved into more action and less puzzle-solving adventure as the series has progressed, much to my dismay, but I still treasure each and every one of the games in the primary series.

My plan is to replay the primary Resident Evil games back-to-back (0-1-2-3-CV-4-5). All but one I'll be playing on my trusty old Gamecube. On RE5, I'll be playing the Gold Edition, and if Move is out by the time I finish the others, I'll probably use the waggle version.

To help with the mood, I'm only going to be playing at night, after it is dark. Also, I will be playing each one on the hardest difficulty level, since I have replayed them all several times over the years, except for RE5. I have not...

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Abercrombies

By Krymner 08-24-2010 06:28 PM
I haven't watched any Mad TV in awhile, but when I saw these new tenants that moved in last week, I immediately thought of the Abercrombie & Fitch parody skits that they used to do. Now, every time I see one of them, I just want to laugh and shake my head.

They are a group of "pretty boys" that moved into The Ace on the second floor. They often walk around with no shirts, stand way too close to one another when they are in a group, and have the cumulative IQ of a slug. They have also partied every day since they moved in last Thursday, had the cops called on them twice, gotten Payday into trouble, and have been general troublemakers since day one. I have dubbed them the "Abercrombies".

Both times they've had the cops called on them was for excessive noise at 2-3 o'clock in the morning. We've already had to give them three littering fines totaling $75 ($25...

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Haters Gonna Hate

By Krymner 08-23-2010 08:45 PM
I've been down with a crappy summertime head-cold sickness for the past several days, so I've been working in a drug-induced haze since last Thursday. There's been some crazy shit going on.

About 90% of everyone moving in has already settled into their apartments. We have replaced a little over half of our student tenants this year with newbies. We got some real gems, too.

The one I want to tell you about today is this girl that moved in on Saturday. Well, it isn't so much the student as it is her mom that helped move her in. If you looked up "Rude Fat Bitch" in the dictionary, chances are you would see her scowling face. Stupid whore pissed me off.

I was called to the apartment the girl was moving into by the Big Burrito. She told me that a bathroom sink was draining slow, so I hustled over there. When I arrived, the girl's mother was ripping up the Big Burrito's ass, rudely complaining about everything. And...

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Doctor Payday and the Bitchy Mr. Wizard

By Krymner 08-17-2010 06:54 PM
Things have been busy around the old apartment complex as we continue to try and get the units ready for the new tenants moving in this weekend. We've completely finished everything in four of our six buildings, and just like a few little things in the other two.

Mr. Wizard has been especially moody the last couple of days. IDK maybe the old man had a bad weekend or something, but he's done nothing but bitch and moan about stupid things.

I'm a very positive, glass-is-half-full kind of guy. These last two days, Mr. Wizard has been the complete opposite, and then some.

"This glass is half empty! Why can't you people fill a glass up like its supposed to be? And there's not enough ice in it either! What the hell? Is that a spot on the glass? Holy crap, this glass if dirty! Why the are you giving me a half-empty glass that's dirty? I guess you'd probably break the damn thing if you tried to wash it anyway....

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Roller Derby Drama

By Krymner 08-16-2010 07:29 PM
I mentioned in one of my blogs last week that a couple of roller derby gals live in these apartments. Today, we had roller derby drama.

The Big Burrito watches the pool like a shark. You'd be surprised by the amount of people who do not live here try and swim at our pool, despite the numerous warning signs saying:

IF YOU DON'T LIVE HERE, YOU CAN'T SWIM HERE!

Today, the boss-lady noticed two dudes chilling in the pool. She did not recognize either one of them. So, she went out and confronted them. They told her that they were guests of one of the roller-derby girls, and the Big Burrito told them that the girl needed to be present if they wished to stay in the pool.

This obviously was not good enough for one of the dudes. He got very foul-mouthed with the Big Burrito cursing and raising his voice, and...

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Rambo Flashdance -- First Blood

By Krymner 08-12-2010 07:11 PM
We got this local company doing the cleaning for all the empty apartments right now. The owner/manager of the cleaning crew is this big guy with this thick New York accent. He kinda looks like this:

Yes, he wears a bandanna and looks like John Goodman. He has also worn the same Hawaiian shirt for the past four days, smokes at least five packs of cigarettes in eight hours, and wouldn't know "clean" if it came in a Ho-Ho wrapper.

Because of the bandanna and everything else, we've given him the nickname "Rambo Flashdance".

Today, Rambo came into the office with a little cut on his finger, but he was practically freaking out. "I need a Band-Aid!" he cried. "Somebody help! I'm bleeding!" It was barely little more than a scratch. Kinda pathetic from a guy his...

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Slow Day Pictures

By Krymner 08-10-2010 07:15 PM
After all of the drama yesterday, today was rather dull. I did, however, snap a couple of pics with my new phone. So, I'll share those with you today.

The first picture is taken from our shop, and shows Payday's backyard.

You can see his little back porch where he sits at in the morning smoking his "white boy". The stolen doghouse mentioned in my previous blog is present as well. The buildings in the background belong to Payday's neighbors on the other side, this mysterious Vietnamese family that is rarely seen by anyone.

Next up are a couple of pics of some tenant's cars. For some reason, they like to write on their windows.

Yeah, we got us some roller-derby girls that live here. Cute ones, too.

Good advice. Can you find the what? I don't know either, that last word was unreadable to me too. Its a mystery.

There are railroad tracks that run the length of one side of the property,...

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Moving Day

By Krymner 08-09-2010 07:38 PM
Sunday was the last day for everyone moving out to have all their crap gone and out of their apartments. Some people had a problem with this!

These times listed below are approximates.

8:30am
Mr. Wizard and I were given the job of going around to all the apartments that should be empty and make sure they really were vacant. I took three apartments (The Ace, The Joker, and The Ten-Spot) and Mr. Wizard took the other three to check.

8:45am
Found one apartment in The Ace that still had some crap in it. Most of it was junk so I immediately proceeded to throw it out.

9:00am
An Asian dude was still in the process of moving out in one of the first apartments I checked in The Joker. He told me he would be gone by noon, and I told him that would be excellent.

9:15am
One apartment in The Ten-Spot was not vacated. Three of the dude's roommates had already moved out, but this...

Krymner's 100th Blog Extravaganza

By Krymner 08-07-2010 05:15 PM
This is my 100th blog, and out of 99 blogs so far, only one has been deleted by the mods. So, I guess that's gotta account for something special, right?

I started blogging once CAG went to 2.0 back in '08. In the beginning, I struggled to figure out what I was going to blog about, if I even had anything interesting to blog about, and who would want to read my blog in the first place.

The bottom line is: I just like to write. I don't really care who reads my blog, or how many people I get to read my blog. I just want something to write about, and this space given to me by CheapyD works fine for that.

I've been told I'm okay at writing fiction. I've posted a couple of pieces of fiction here on this CAG blog, but nothing great. The best fiction I've posted is one of my Starcraft Files I wrote for a SC fansite years ago.

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Tenants of The King -- Day 8-- Lair of Losers Part 2

By Krymner 08-06-2010 11:08 PM
Today, I finished with The King, getting all the work orders finished in the Lair of Losers. As promised, the last two occupants:

Mumblemumblemotherfuker
The single black guy in the apartment is MM-Mofo. He's also the youngest, and the only one of the group that goes to school. He mumbles alot to himself, and when he's talking to you, he'll mumble something, then speak his sentence normally, then mumble something else.

Here's a typical conversation with MM-Mofo:

ME: "Hey, man! How's it going?"

MM-Mofo: "mumblemumblemumblemumble Hi I'm fine. mumblemumblemumble."

He's not very social at all, and keeps to himself most of the time. He used to live in another apartment with other black guys, but they complained about him. They did not complain about MM-Mofo whacking off in the bathroom. They complained about him leaving the bathroom door open while...

Chronicles of a Maintenance Man: Tenants of The King -- Day 7-- Lair of Losers Part 1

By Krymner 08-05-2010 07:51 PM
The infamous Lair of Losers. No apartment within this complex is as feared and avoided. Not just because of the condition of the apartment itself, but also for the four residents that live there.

When I went to do the work orders for the Lair today, I didn't get everything finished. So, since I gotta go back tomorrow anyway, I decided to split this blog up into two parts. Today, I will describe to you the apartment, and two of the four inhabitants. Tomorrow, I will describe the other two, and post my experiences within the......

LAIR OF LOSERS

It is called the Lair of Losers because of the apartment's inhabitants. Four guys live there; three white, one black. Some other apartments within this complex smell bad, but none come as close to the Lair in terms of its nauseating stench. It hangs over the Lair like a thick cloud. I cannot even describe to you how bad it smells, and just thinking about it makes me want to hurl. ...
