My first PSP Mini: Age of Zombies |
![]() While I can hear the internet groan every time I see the word 'zombie' mentioned I personally have yet to grow tired of blasting away at the undead. So when Halfbrick released a batch of brain-munching hordes on the PSP for $4.99 I was happy to oblige. Age of Zombies is a top-down, pseudo-twin-stick shooter which puts you in the role of zombie-slaying Barry Steakfries. Yeah, it's a ridiculous name, but no one is going to accuse Age of Zombies of taking itself seriously. Your tasked with traveling through time and ridding history of the undead menace. Sounds simple enough, but the tremendous amount of zombies you'll have to deal with will make the task at hand pretty hairy at times. Lucky for you though, power-ups will drop from the sky and help you put down the dead with a vengeance. The main game consists of 5 different time periods, each taking |

'Ears On' with the Turtle Beach X4 Earphones

![]() While hanging out at a friend's place over the weekend I caught glimpse of his Turtle Beach X4 earphones and asked if I could take them out for a test spin. He said sure, I put them on and he popped Assassin's Creed II into his 360. Now I don't want to gush or anything, but holy SHAQ-FU these things are awesome. The depth of sound the X4's cranked out was amazing, every tone and jingle in the game had a incredible boost in it's range, and the surround sound had me turning me head side to side in disbelief as the audio drifted in from what seemed like all locations. You could precisely identify character locations based on just the audio alone. I sat in awe with the earphones on as my buddy played and it was just unreal to listen to the audio in the game for what felt like the first time. The jump in audio quality was like what we all experienced visually going from SD to HD. |

R.I.P. Japanese Launch DS Lite

![]() Not sure what it is with my and DS triggers, but this is the second time I've worn out an R-trigger on a DS. First, it was my original USA launch DS. The r-trigger just stopped responding which at the time made Mario Kart impossible to play. Nintendo was kind enough to allow me to purchase a replacement unit for $60 which lasted me until I picked up a DS Lite. I ordered my import DS Lite from local, indie game shop Digital Press ( http://www.digitpress.com ), and paid for it by trading in a boatload of Nintendo Power magazines & other assorted nonsense. ![]() My DS Lite lasted me from launch (March 2006) until today, but sadly with a busted r-trigger and a broken volume control it seems to have reached the end of the road. The only thing to do now is to pony up the cash for a replacement. |

Need Laptop advice - looking to buy something new

![]() My current laptop (which is my primary computer these days) is an aging IBM Thinkpad T42p. The thing is in stellar condition, but I'm finding that it is starting to show it's age (pushing 4 years now). I've upgraded it as far as it'll go, but looking ahead I'm afraid it's days are numbered. I'm now pricing out replacements and contemplating desktops vs. laptops. I live a fairly nomadic lifestyle (always on the go) so while I can probably get a better bang for my buck on a desktop, it might not suite me best. Several of my friends have defected to the Apple camp, and while I'm not opposed to making the switch myself, I would only do so if the reasoning was legit. Just to give you an idea of what my needs are, I am an avid photographer running both photoshop and lightroom back to back. I've also been delving more and more into video editing, currently working with... |
