The final threshold of nerdy...
By bardockkun 04-20-2013 04:40 AM
|
|
I Do alot of nerdy things. I Collect comics, movies, music, and go to conventions and have a vast knowledge of pop culture and useless trivia. But now, I think I finally hit my peak of nerdiness. Something I wasn't sure I'd get to, but it's going to happen...
I'm going to goddamn cosplay and not for shits and gigs, but for real actual put effort and made a costume kinda cosplay. So what did I decide to do? ![]() BMo from Adventure Time. It seemed simple, but took enough work and I was kinda growing tired of people just buying things from Hot Topic and calling it a costume. I Made it out of styrofoam insulation and I made the D-pad and all the buttons (minus the giant red one because of some mishaps) springy and the power button turns on. So it's official, I've made a better d-pad then the 360. I'm trying it today at a con so we'll see... |

Uncharted 3. Really? That's it?
By bardockkun 01-01-2012 07:31 AM
|
|
Going to keep away from any major spoilers...
Full disclosure, I LOVE Uncharted 2. Everything from the story, characters and set pieces made me feel like it's truly one of the great gems of this console generation. It felt like the perfect example of how to take a sequel and make and expand upon it in everyway. That and it gave me one of favorite female characters ever, Chloe. So to say I was looking forward to Uncharted 3 was a bit of an understatement, but unfortunately Uncharted 3 felt...well, disappointing. Now it's not a bad game mind you, but in the very least I was expecting something at least on par with the last game in terms of single player experience. It hits some of those notes, for one the scenary, graphics and some of the set pieces are amazing. It's always a bit breathtaking when the camera suddenly pans away and you realize this is all real time graphics they're working with. After moments like that though it felt like the game was...kinda rushed.... |

Hardcore Log Jamming. Tales from the Backlog.
By bardockkun 08-04-2011 05:07 AM
|
|
I Just always wanted to name my gaming backlog diaries that for some reason. Don't know why, but it had to be done.
Besides that, how is everyone's gaming doing this year? Since this is CAG where dreams of finishing games and having a modest selection that you'll "eventually play" go to die. So far 38 down this year so this is by far my best year in gaming ever as opposed to buying more and not knowing when to play and just buying more to kinda bury that shame even deeper. ... |

Sucker Punch review |
|
Saw an early screening of it and...
Well... The movie ing sucked. I Didn't give a shit about any of the characters really from the get go. Making it hard to care if they escape, which is REALLY suppose to be the center of the movie. You get kinda numb to the visuals of the action dream sequences as they drag on and kinda just feel pointless as it really brings no immediate danger. And the ending...Oh God the ending was a piss poor attempt to get you to feel anything for any of the girls, but by then it was too late and just felt like stupid shock value.Save your money and time. |

Dear USPS, FUCK YOU

Long story short, got the last half of my GoHastings order today. Problem was it had nothing in it and in fact was torn and open and stamped with RECEIVED UNSEALED and RECEIVED WITHOUT CONTENTS.
So thanks USPS. Called GoHastings and they said they'd refund my order. So hopefully they'll pull through, if not, I'm tempted to e-mail them as well just to drive it home. |

How many games did you beat this year?
By bardockkun 12-28-2010 02:58 AM

Since discovering this site I've been in backlog hell. A Hell where I have more games and DLC then need be, but finally I at least put some kinda dent in it with 33 games beaten this year. Not the best, but goddamn it's something.

Is CAG acting weird for anyone else?
By bardockkun 10-03-2010 05:00 PM
|
|
For the past few weeks or so CAG has been acting weird on me. As in random parts of the day my internet won't be able to find a server for it, but I know it's not down for everyone else because when it eventually does connect I see there are posts while I wasn't able to get online. Plus I try it on PS3 and still does it randomly. I Don't know if it's Qwest or not, because my friend has same problems as me and he lives literally 5 minutes away from me. That or at times I can connect to the CAG servers and he can't or vice versa. Anyone else been having this problem recently?

My early bday present
By bardockkun 10-01-2010 08:14 PM

Today I went to my friend's house to see his new firstborn son and he had an early Birthday gift for me and it kicks TOTAL ASS. Though pardon the IPhone quality of the picture.
![]() THE MONARCH! Straight from the Venture Bros. and done in the 70's mego style. Plus he has foldable wings too and on the back it has a piece to make a fold up H.E.L.P.er. Not even my Birthday and I declare this one of the best, if not the best present yet. |

Should I submit to hype? Cheap, cheap hype...
By bardockkun 09-14-2010 05:34 PM
|
|
It's been awhile since I bought a retail game on launch or anywhere that isn't four or so months after release when the game is $20. Though once in awhile a game so hyped, so possibly blown out of proportion will come along and tempt me. Tempt me with the lure that "THIS MAY BE THE GAME THAT CHANGES YOUR LIFE!" That such and obvious game right now is Halo Reach.
Now here's the thing that is making me debate. One, is the Halo games have all been meh to me. As in they're alright, but no where near game of the year status and what not. They're really just nice minor distractions before moving onto something that attracts me more(oh Rock Band 3, why can't you be here now?). Two is I work retail and with that comes the Microsoft Expertzone discount where I can get the game new for $20 or $15 if I decide to wait until early next month when my membership gets upgraded. So do I dare submit to hype? Or should I keep on living with the only Halo game in my collection... |

My epiletic seizure gives me the power to kill mutant mummies...
By bardockkun 08-04-2010 05:27 AM

I'll be honest I want a Kinect and I have no damn reason why. Closest one I can think of is so I can play Dance Central, other then that there is no reason besides Children of Eden and even still that isn't until next year. So low and behold when I read this on Magicbox I found my reason and suddenly it was destroyed like all things I love...

I Liked you better as a demo. Tales from the backlog. |
|
For every great shooter there is a gimmick and no gimmick do I enjoy more then diving in slow motion and plowing through someone's face with a shotgun. Though unfortunately not every game can be a Max Payne, but instead end up being aggravating to the very end. These are such tales.
![]() A sequel of sorts to one of the greatest action flicks of all time, Hard Boiled, comes Stranglehold. Man I wanted to like this game, but instead I hated it. Man, did I hate it. For better or worse (better) the game is short, but the whole time I struggled with shitty bullet time (it seems to activate on it's accord when either diving or looking from cover) and a pointless cover mechanic as enemies keep constantly either bum rushing me or just destroying my shitty cover as a whole. That and the camera is a pain in the ass in tight corridors as Officer Tequila (that's who you... |

Working on the backlog some more...
By bardockkun 05-25-2010 02:28 AM
|
|
Jesus it seems for every game I beat I buy two or three more. CAG is an idiotic blessing and a curse. Though this year I'm actually spending more and more time gaming versus buying games and then leaving them there, so...progress for once in a long time. In anycase some thoughts of what I beat...
![]() First off I enjoyed the hell out of the first Bioshock. Second I was hesitant that I'd be bored with the second one or it'd feel to live up to the original, but this was not the case. The game itself I'd put on par with the original though in different ways. For one, the suspenseful moments in this weren't anywhere as good as the first (the silhouette of the doctor, the lullaby, etc.). That and the game does kinda feel a bit repetitive and annoying, mostly because enemies won't stop goddamn respawning. It get's annoying when going from one point to the other.... |

Need a new game collection database.
By bardockkun 05-12-2010 03:06 AM

|
It always makes me feel better giving a number and knowing how many games I have. Even if majority of it is game's I haven't finished and it's just a shrine to brash spending, but it's still an overall collection I like knowing I can show with others online as well. So any ideas of GOOD websites to catalog games since IGN's seems to have gone to total shit for past few week's and CAG's...well CAG's game collection thing is a
ing joke. I'm sorry, but the search is just pathetic if it gives me the titles it thinks I want and won't do more searching beyond that. Well, what's the point? So suggestions? |

Iron Man 2 movie review!
By bardockkun 05-05-2010 02:25 AM
|
|
Just got back from an early screening of Iron Man 2 here and might as well post a quick review. Now before I start going into detail (while avoiding spoilers), I'll just throw somethings out of the way. Yes, the movie is awesome and I liked it alot more then the first. Second, there is a scene after the credits just like the first. Third, to all you people who saw Cap's shield in the first one it is kinda addressed, but not in the way you imagine.
Now onwards to the review, awesome, yes. Without a doubt. Jon Faverau had alot of characters in this movie to balance out (Stark, Potts, Rhoddes, Whiplash, Hammer, etc.), but he does it all rather seamlessly and everyone has at least one memorable scene. Seriously, I loved the casting in this movie and Don Cheadle did a great job replacing Terrance Howard as War Machine. Scarlet Johansen as Black Widow I didn't mind as much as I thought, her character isn't given much in terms of a back story, but she makes up for it with... |

Working on backlog AKA the neverending journey
By bardockkun 04-25-2010 04:06 AM
|
|
There comes a time where a person buys so many games that they don't feel any strong desire to play something new. I Was that way for the longest time and instead kept buying more and more games and watching the backlog grow to ridiculous proportions. Finally the straw killed the camel after the Blockbuster sale where I realized I had just bought 22 or so games in a single week and realized I should quit going outside and stay indoors on the couch and play some video games. And that's all I've been doing this month.
So far I've beaten seven games and working on several more and from that a few thoughts I feel the need to share on some... ![]() The Darkness. Based on the comic book (though loose in interpretation) and I bought this game years ago and played again and off again, but never finished it, but knew I would enjoy it when I gave it the... |

Fake instrument review! The Telecaster guitar!

Why not? I Play and own enough of these damn things to review a few of them. In anycase, a few months back ago my friend got me one of these...
![]() The Telecaster Guitar for Rock Band by MadCatz (though the one I got came in Sunburst color not Butterscotch, but I don't think it makes much of a difference gameplay wise). So before going into the pros and cons let's go into some of the features that this guitar touts. -Touch sensitive back/overdrive piece right between the strum bar and neck. -Metal spring whammy bar -Hinged fret buttons for "faster fret changes" -$110 Price tag! Now reading the features I was pretty giddy to try this out and especially curious to see how the fret buttons measure up. Well...This is the part of the review where I say it lives up to the price tag and I shat my pants or I go into disappointment and... |

Scenario Campaign in Tekken = Horrible |
|
Tekken 6 for lack of a better word is pretty damn annoying. I Want to like it alot because it's Tekken, but so many things about it feel like Namco intentionally tries to make me hate it. The biggest gripe? The god
ing awful Scenario Campaign. Now it wasn't so bad in other Tekken games to have a beat em up thing on the side, but the fact you HAVE to go through this mode in ORDER to be able to play through a characters story and ending in the NORMAL since beginning of franchise Tekken story mode is just a horrible idea. For one, there is no camera control so alot of goddamn cheap shots. Two is auto aim sucks, apparently my character has a thing for overkilling people because while their opponent maybe dead, they seem intent on punching their corpse repeatedly, even if I'm trying to punch someone living in the face. Three, it's cheap as hell. Anytime an enemy wants they can juggle the crap out of you. In the Tekken world apparently bullets don't kill your character,... |

That Gamernook ad on CAG...
By bardockkun 04-11-2009 11:28 PM

This isn't going to be about why we have ads from that God forsakend site. No, this is about the ad we have up for it with the girl holding what I think looks like a controller. What the
is it she's holding? It looks like she got an N64 controller and tried hammering it into a 360 controller and the only supplies she had was a cactus and a bear trap. If anyone can clarify, my head may hurt a little bit less...But I doubt it. |

I Miss you EGM
By bardockkun 02-15-2009 02:37 AM

It's weird when you don't realize how big an impact something has until it's gone. So I'm reading Game Informer and looking at the reviews and first thing to come to mind is "man, can't wait to see EGM's take on this, this month...Oh wait."
It literally feels weird knowing that every month I only have ONE gaming magazine coming to my mailbox (used to be Game Informer for previews, EGM for reviews) and all of a sudden it's down to one. Goddamn you EGM, why did you have to die? Now I have to assume big name games despite glitches are some of the best games ever made. |
