Little BIG Travel'

By MarkMan 10-20-2008 04:31 PM
Hello. I just got back from my short trip to Hong Kong. I was gone for a little over a week to tie up some business for an upcoming project. I didn't get to do as much sightseeing as the trip was strictly for work work work... but it was an AMAZING experience nonetheless.

Got this about 2 weeks early lol... US version too!

My first time playing Tekken 6... I did pretty well vs the locals, but vs the top HK players, I got destroyed! Fun game, I love it!

Another arcade had about 15 Street Fighter IV units. I tried to cheap it up with Sagat and ended up doing really well... Tiger Uppercut xx SADC into f+HK xx ULTRA (qcf,qcf+3K) = TOO FUN!

I'm glad I never got married. Life is crazy yo.

By MarkMan 09-29-2008 12:08 AM
Crazy life... Life is crazy. I spoke to someone tonight that I never thought I'd have a chat with. I spoke with my ex's husband. I had a beautiful little girl with my ex, btw. He hit me up and told me out of nowhere...

Quote:
i'm willing to bet that you are and have always been a nice guy
and that *** just fucked you over
i'm divorcing *** because it looks like she hasn't changed.

He also let me know that he'll be bringing my daughter back down to live with me soon (which makes me happy of course; my daughter lives 10 hours away btw)... but there is some sadness to this.

The news hit me hard. This is definitely something that shocks me. But most of all. It hurts me and makes me sad to no end. When my ex and I split up, my daughter was too young to understand/know about what was going on. But she's 7 years old now. This is definitely going to be something that she will...

Mad Catz Street Fighter IV Controllers & A New Era...

By MarkMan 09-13-2008 05:40 AM
PLEASE NOTE, the products listed in this blog entry are not FINAL and subject to change.

Hello everyone. As mentioned previously in BlueSwim's recent blog entry, some information on Mad Catz' STREET FIGHTER IV controllers has surfaced. (Images courtesy of Shin Rotendo and SRK forums.)

If you don't know. I'm part of the design team working on these projects and also, I am the biggest arcade stick geek around. There is not much I can say that hasn't been already said in the links below... But just know that I am very passionate about STREET FIGHTER IV.

I want to thank everyone for their input, positive comments, and most of all their skepticism. I understand the position the consumer & gamer are in when it comes to Mad Catz products.

Mad Catz, Inc. will be working with Capcom to bring out official Street Fighter IV themed controllers early next year! What kind of controllers will they be? A good guess would be a fighting game pad and an arcade stick. Luckily we know some information about the upcoming SFIV controllers and will back up Mad Catz and Capcom by noting that all Street Fighter fans and fighting game nuts should look forward to what is coming out early next year! Click below for the full press release and details!

Random Punch

By MarkMan 08-17-2008 03:14 AM
Damn YouTube. I got my YT account suspended/disabled the other day because Enterbrain complained about two videos I uploaded EIGHT MONTHS AGO. There is no denying that the videos do indeed violate copyright infringement, but in no way am I trying to take away from their sales (of a book that has been out of print for months now). -_- If they had asked nicely, I would have taken them down.

I had about 1,300 subscribers and over 600 videos uploaded on my account. I've sent an email appeal asking for another chance. We'll see how it goes.

I've been playing a lot of Soulcalibur IV lately. A LOT. If anyone is serious about learning the games, I'd suggest checking these two sites...
  • Calibur Forums - Ignore the fact that it has SOUL CALIBUR II forums plastered all over the site... This is the original Soul Calibur competitive community. If you want to read up or discuss with other players, this is THE place to be.

Hideo Kojima & Yoji Shinkawa Signing My PS3 @ SDCC 2008... + Bonus

By MarkMan 08-11-2008 12:43 AM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATu9GJpoOKc

On Thursday night of Comic-Con I found out that Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa would be doing a Friday morning autograph session for Comic-Con attendees. I was a bit sad as I had work Friday morning, so I sent my brother in my place instead.

The night before I got to meet Kojima and chat with him a bit as the Konami room was right next door to the SD TEKKEN gaming room. So when I found out he was doing a signing session. I had to make plans. Since our gaming room was right next to where the autograph event took place, we took advantage of our early access and our crew just started the line before everyone else got there lol.

Bonus, Leah Dizon's new music video...

I'm like a week back in pickups... All these were from Comic-Con week/weekend. I've been so lazy/tired I didn't get to post them until now... I apologize about the shitty camera phone pics.

One sealed box of Gyakuten Saiban 3 (Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations) mini figures.

Bunch of Capcom goodies... Lanyard, SF IV Ryu headband, SF IV Ryu temporary tattoos, Chun Li mini figure (limited to 4,000), and a Capcom wrist slap bracelet.

Got a Guilty Gear 2 Overture goodie bag from the homies at AKSYS Games. (No picture of the bag, sorry), it...

My Favorite Things: Vol. 1 - Video Games

By MarkMan 07-09-2008 10:14 PM
Hi everyone. I thought I'd take some time to share my favorite things... I'm a bit bored and feel like going at it with the good old (new?) CAG blog...

I've been wanting one of these now for a long time. I was too busy with work to make it to the signings in San Francisco and New York. But I finally got one! Better late than never!

I have too many hobbies. It's not good for the wallet I'll tell you that. Americans have openly adopted the 'otaku' lifestyle, in which I mean, we are a bunch of geeks... Yep. I'm 26 years old now and I have a mile long laundry list of geeky accomplishments and statistics. I'm very proud to be an 'otaku' or 'geek' or simply put, a fan of many things.

VIDEO GAMES. I love them. I don't know how I can express it without getting into specifics... I didn't start heavily buying games/collecting until around 1999-2000....

Weekend Review: Anime Expo 2008

By MarkMan 07-07-2008 01:28 AM
Updated by MarkMan 07-08-2008 02:20 PM
If you don't care about the Anime Expo junk and just wanna read the gaming stuff, just scroll to the bottom half of the entry or hit CTRL+F and find the word 'GAMINGSTUFF' !

My weekend started a bit early as I got off work early on Thursday and decided to make a last minute trip to LA with friends n8nmonster and x-raze to see if we can squeeze in an hour or so of walking around the Anime Expo exhibit hall...

Just one of the awesome things I saw during Anime Expo 2008!

As you can see in the picture above... there was some weird shit going on, but nonetheless I had a great time each and every day. Keep in mind that on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday... my friends and I drove from San Diego to Los Angeles and back (2 hours one way) each morning. Ouch on the gas consumption, but at least we enjoyed ourselves.

By MarkMan 07-03-2008 02:22 AM
Hello CAG! It's Wednesday night and I'm about to knock out before a long day at work tomorrow. Thank God it'll be a three day weekend! Ahhh, the 4th of July. God bless America. Let me take a moment to post this picture...

Ahhh. That's better. Well, there is a bunch of stuff I'd like to share with ya'll. But it's going to have to wait until the later half of the weekend! :P

I need a new camera... so I'll probably go shopping before I head up to Anime Expo on Saturday. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures!

Until then. Everyone have a fun and safe holiday!

Welcome to 2.0...

By MarkMan 07-02-2008 03:14 AM
Updated by MarkMan 07-03-2008 12:21 AM
I'd like to commemorate CAG 2.0 with an inaugural blog post on this memorable night!

What makes this night memorable you ask?

Chrono Trigger DS has been announced! Young Jump has announced that an 'enhanced' port of the classic Super Nintendo dream team RPG will finally make it's first noise since 8 years ago (Chrono Cross' release). You can check out the teaser site here.

Famitsu revealed that SEGA is working on Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 (Yakuza 3) for the PS3! Apparently Ryu Ga Gotoku KENZAN! was a side story game and the main storyline will pick up where it left off with part 2 (slated for a US release 09/09/08)! Development began right after KENZAN was completed and is currently slated for a Spring release in Japan.

Firmware 2.40 is up and running for the PlayStation Network! If you haven't updated yet, do so now!
