The Boatcrash Chronicles # 179 & 180

As I mentioned in my last update, April marked the 2 year anniversary of The Boatcrash Chronicles. To mark the occasion, I didn't work on the comic at all that month. Ignoring them is how we celebrate things around here.
Well, back to the ol' grindstone... I was going to put a little parachute and tiny goggles on the cat in the second panel, but I instead opted for reality (the hallmark of this series). In reality, I'm sure Mrs Shipwreck would prevent Ship from dressing up the cats. I originally had Boatcrash doing a bad imitation of Dorf's bad accent, but it made for an odd reading experience. And that's all I got. |

The Boatcrash Chronicles - Comic Make-E-Ups |
|
Barely made it in time to for a March update. My other comic takes up a lot of my time. But two months in a row qualifies me for being back on the once-a-month schedule! I'm feeling the exhilarating pressure of a deadline already!
Here's what I've managed to do over the past six weeks: Why is there no Rack-O video game? It's placing numbered cards in order! That needs to be captured in virtual form! ... |

It has been a while since I posted some comics. But I do enjoy uploading large chunks all at once. Makes me feel more productive than I really am.

The Boatcrash Chronicles - Pulled Away From Skyrim Long Enough For This Update |
|
I somehow managed to put 60 hours into Skyrim and create a half dozen Boatcrash comics (in addition to other comics I do) this week. Actually, I made the comics all in the past 36 hours instead of playing games. It's really one or the other. Skyrim does not bring balance to my life.

The Boatcrash Chronicles - Octobertacular Update |
|
I tend to enjoy drawing these comics most when I get to draw someone in a wacky, energetic position. Perhaps it wasn't the brightest idea to base a comic about a guy that sits around a plays video games, or sits around recording a podcast. I suppose it's not nice to follow Shipwreck's twitter feed in hopes of reading about some kinect-related mishap that I can draw about, but I do it anyway. Oh well, until I banish all furniture from these strips, here's more sitting:

The Boatcrash Chronicles Seasonal Update |
|
I was recently reminded that I hadn't posted any comics in quite a while. It was a bit embarrassing to be called out like that, even if it was only in a passing remark.
I had a small stack of comics drawn, just sitting around, waiting to be finished. The stress of financial woes, the distraction of video games, or perhaps just rebelling against some imaginary deadline... these are likely causes of the cartooning delay. This is normally when I would resolve to do better, and be more consistent in my updates. But I think it's best just to post what I have and quickly scurry away. After all, there are Wars to be Geared. ... |

The Boatcrash Chronicles Look He's Playing Video Games Edition |
|
Everytime I draw Boatcrash with angry eyebrows, it just looks wrong. The same goes for Cheapy. They just seem like they should just shrug off anything with a "gosh golly, oh well, I'm rich." As characters, they're so fundamentally good natured and head-slappingly goofy that they reject the Mr Potato Head Angry Eyes.
At least Wombat seems fit to scowl. Way to have range, Wombat! Oh, and now some comics. |

Multireview: Recent High Profile FPS, Single Player reviews |
|
I fired a buttload of bullets over the last month, as three very different high-profile first person shooters were released. And boy, are my guns tired.
I tend to lose interest in FPS after a few hours, but these games actually held my attention for their entirety. Though their entireties are of vastly different lengths. These games are reviewed solely on their single player campaigns, played on normal difficulty. They all have online multiplayer, but since the quality of opponents is the majority of the fun factor in those modes, it would be pointless for me to try and review that experience. Games are rated on a 4-star system. Oh, and I managed to actually get some screenshots this time, except for Homefront because I no longer have that game in my possession. Bulletstorm is pure machismo sprinkled with insanity, in a neatly polished package. I wouldn't say it has much of the long-lasting appeal that truly memorable... |

Review: Ghostbusters, Poker & Bejeweled |
|
I play a lot of games, so I feel I should make the effort to talk about them. So here's reviews of some of the XBLA games I've recently played. I don't have any actual screenshots to post with these reviews though. I'll try to remedy that for future reviews.

A Big Chunkeroo of Boatcrash Chronicles |

Okay, time to play catch up. Again.
Here's some strips I drew the last couple months. I thought that maybe they'd get funnier over time, but it turns out they just get stranger. But I'll take it! ... |

Boatcrash Chronicles - Return From The Dead Edition |
|
I drew this strip last weekend, and decided that I wanted to post it while it's still somewhat relevant. I have some other strips from the past couple months that I plan to post, but I'm having issues with them, so... Technically, this episode is out of order, and with the rigid continuity that the Boatcrash Chronicles follows, I do hope that it doesn't spoil the rest when I do post them.
Let's just say, in honor of MST3K, this is the SciFi Channel broadcast version: episode-order be damned! Oh, and we now have to spoiler tag all pictures as not to offend, right? |
