This is a 13 year old girl. White. Southern. Probably no more douchey than any other teenage girl. Her name is Beth. ABC News wants to tell you her story. She met Dylan online playing her Xboxes and her Call of Duties in her bedroom. What does Beth do that's so noteworthy? It's not play Call of Duty... grow up guys, girls play Call of Duty. Beth however took the initiative of driving nearly 1000 miles to meet Dylan in person. Why wouldn't she, Dylan is the younger man after all at the supposed age of 12.

We have to assume he's 12, because after being stopped at 900 miles just 130 miles from her destination.... actually let's pause here and point out that 13 year old Beth "stole" her brother's car, and ATM card. Used it twice before it stopped working and then attempted to use it 5 more times. After the card was declined 6 times she must have gotten the clue and went on with her trip. I can picture her just...

On Resident Evil: Retribution

So I got into a Thursday screening for RE:R. Those of you who follow me on twitter know this.

First off that poster is lying to you. In no way in this movie "global". Now to be fair I arrived late but I arrived just when Alice comes into play as far as I can tell. I'm a fan of the RE movies. I've liked them all. They're NOTHING like the games but that's why they work. Rather then trying to stay true to the source and ruining it. They just took the theme and left. So when I say this is the first RE movie I couldn't follow I'm not saying it out of biased hate. As I'm writing this for the first time I'm wondering if maybe I missed a movie? There's just no way I don't remember the last one and yet there's gaps that aren't explained. The credits indicate a 'prologue sequence' that I might have missed but over all it's just... hey weird. *BONUS* If the threat of boob is your thing then you'll be pleased there's...

So a Girl Walks into a Comedy Club…

Those are the words she chooses to start her blog and they're as good as any. Basically is a story about this chick going to a comedy club to just go out and one of the acts if Daniel Tosh of Tosh.0 fame.

Tosh.0: Tim Tebowing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYSRiz52exk

Tosh.0: Breakdancer Web Rebemption
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmTSDYWQqdE

For those who've never watched his show (Tosh.0 on Comedy Central) it's actually rather funny. It's 10 times funnier than it sounds like from the description. It's basically Let's watch YouTube clips and laugh for 20 minutes with a break to bring one of them into the studio to talk. When you watch an episode it seems ok. Then you watch Rediculousness on MTV and you suddenly love Tosh.0 because it's not completely stupid.

Anyway this isn't about Tosh it's about this girl (and tumblr culture which sucks worse than blogger culture...

Been reading books on my computer.. some from Gutenberg... some.. not.

Anyway reread The Animorphs. Good series. Very dated.
Had such a good time I decided to finally read Everworld.... actually I just acquired it at the same time. Anyway Everworld is in some ways better, someways worse.

Looking for reviews of the series. I got kinda obsessed with reviews after discovering "Opinionated Animorphs".

I found this guy

My Comment on Pages and Rants wordpress about Everworld

The post is a bit old.. (the series is old) so I'm looking at his most recent posts (few months ago. I see an article on weed. People who smoke week generally make me angry. But it's a weak anger. I don't care enough to get actually angry. But they do have stupid arguments. I had started to read this post and it got long... still I had some responses and I thought I'd share them...

On the Mass Effect series

By Wolfkin 04-28-2012 03:25 PM
Ok as some of you know and some of you keep forgetting I don't have an Xbox. I do want an xbox. For pretty much one game Mass Effect. If they released all three games on PS3 I wouldn't want an xbox. That's about all you really need to know.

That said I try to avoid knowing about ME. All i needed to know was that it's an epic RPG that spans your save across three games. I was sold on the concept. Yet still I've managed to glean a fact or two about the game from podcasts, blog comments, random blogs, and actually trying to play the ME2 demo that one time for about 3 minutes before text too small to read made me very angry.

I'm not going to bother putting a spoiler warning because I don't know enough to know if any of this is a spoiler. heck I'm not even sure it's entirely accurate.

Proving you're gay to the Turkish army
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17474967

hahahaha. This article has hilarious out of context quotes.
In a way it's amusing to read. No comment on the reality of the situation, but there's all kinds of gems like
[''They asked me when I first had anal intercourse, oral sex, what sort of toys I played with as a child."]
and
[He was then asked to provide a picture of himself dressed as a woman.]
as well as
[''The face must be visible,'' says Gokhan. ''And the photos must show you as the passive partner.'' ]

I now present a Turkish dialogue:
Dude: Hey Doc.. i can't serve. I'm gay.
Doc: No... you're not, alright how long have you been shoving things up your rectum?
Dude: Since I was 14.. it was a rare night not too dry. Me and Brian were alone, trapped in the uncivilized--
Doc: ha... ... ok then when'd you first get your nob polished?
Dude: A year before...

On the killing of black kids

Forgot I wrote this so it's a bit late. Still it's functional as it. As a note I got suckered into watching Zimmerman's brother on TV talking and I see they're going with the kid hunted me down defense which is finally logical but still doesn't invalidate my point that he should be arrested, investigated and THEN set free.. you can't just jump the line. - Ed.

This week I read an article on the black kid killing everyone's raving about. My take on it is simple. Does it suck. YES. Is the guy guilty of a crime. YES. But honestly if they want to not arrest him until they're ready to go thru whatever it is they're waiting for them I'm actually ok with that. I kind of think that's the way it should be. My problem is that they need to take this new (in my mind correct) attitude and apply it across the board equitably. A lot of people get arrested that I believe should be not arrested until they're ready to actually do something about it. Stop taking people...

On the nature of what a trend actually is

As I was walking to the library listening to the CAGcast I paused the show on a question about Binary Domain
Quote:
CheapyD: afrider wants to know: "Does Binary Domain prove the game media wrong that Japanese game development is one a decline--"

1:20:50 - CAGcast #275
at this point I hit pause because I had found my seat in the library. So far I'm not sure what the rest of the question is but right now I can tell you that afrider is an idiot. It's something I've said elsewhere and I guess I should say it here. A trend isn't a train. A train track is regimented, a single track out of place wrecks the train.
Fridays is death for TV. That's a trend. It's been a long time since TGIF and since then Fridays have been the death of a show. No you can't look to Supernatural and Fringe and call that trend dead. Supernatural is an anomaly. That show has been trying to die for ages now. So what we're left with is one show and one show does not a trend break....

Limitless

Bradley Cooper starring in an intelligently written movie. I hear they were nervous about it but it worked. It worked well in my opinion. At one point I was wondeirng what it would be like if they'd had someone with more star power in it but that because of a tweet I'd just read "Going to the movies with the kids; they refused to see Green Lantern because they say he's supposed to be black" unfortunatly I don't want to follow him on twitter so I couldn't correct the numerous wrong assumptions in that statement. Anyway it was just seeing Bradley Cooper's blue blue eyes made me wonder if the movie would work if say Will Smith (my go to black guy with star power) was in the role. Outside of that it was just a fun ride. I even liked the ending. I'm not even sure I liked the ending to Inception (don't remember it right now).

As is often the case here on the blogs I comment on websites and my short thoughts tend to be verbose as I reread them and make clarifying edits. Thus was the case here when on twitter my friend who did go by the name Hal posted a link for a story proclaiming that NYT changed it's front page in hours a take unmanageable by a rival Huffington Post.

Ok so in short this is about a junk e-mail forward. I'm not going to bother with the text because it was meaningless and instead focus on the actual video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2vARzvWxwY

So I'm going to go thru each claim in this video and assess it on a scale of 1 (reasonable) to 4 (stupid)

- Hackers can track your e-mail
4. Only because as we'll learn 'hackers' can track you but an e-mail? Really? The logical leap there is that anyone who breaks into your house would also get your computer, find your geo-tagged photos and find out where you are that evening and come kill you. Noone is finding your geo-tagged photos in your e-mail except your wife. Don't send her pictures while you're cheating and you'll be fine.

On two box office failures you shouldn't run from

By Wolfkin 03-30-2011 01:18 AM
So I'm going scatter brained over this website launch, the internet is going wonky in the PM so the other night I kinda just gave up and since I didn't have any TV queued up I figured I'd watch a movie. I've had Gulliver's Island and The Green Hornet waiting for me. Figured why not.

So before I watched them I expected this to be a race to the bottom. My planned review was going to be pretty scathing. Instead they both managed to surprise me.

Gulliver's Travels was still the worse film by far. It had all the anachronistic stuff you expect in this movie based on title alone. Yet watching it I wasn't sure how they would go. I was actually willing to buy into the plot until he landed into the land of the Lilliputians. Everything was going fine and well and honestly I was a little bothered by how they could afford to just feed a giant. I mean the amount of livestock you'd have to kill...

For the past few weeks I've been juggling a few projects. The current one I'm grinding is 31. It's actually the brainchild of a friend of mine. She's kinda awesome. I'm actually kinda sorry I haven't had the opportunity to help out more or even watch all the completed project. I hear she's got a spot on a panel at Dragon*Con which sucks because I would love to go, but I can't be sure I'll be in the US some Labor Day.

Anyways 31 is basically a horror series for the twitter generation. It's 31 episodes, 31 seconds long. I'll give you one guess when our premiere date is. I'll blog again on day one but I would appreciate it if you check it out. It's only 31 seconds, should be fun no?

On the state of game-banning laws

By Wolfkin 03-19-2011 04:45 PM
Ok so as I'm probably late to the party on this one but I was scanning my alt facebook and stumbled upon an article that suggest the game-banning law is reaching farther into reality than in the past. While I do think this law is a terrible idea, I have no concern about the free speech or 'censorship' issues involved. I just think it's
  1. unnecessary. Games do a fantastic job of policing themselves. As independent studies have show again and again and again. Even if video games DO cause violence and honestly I believe there is room for that as a reasonable argument. It doesn't change the fact that kids can easier get porn than an M-rated game. The only vector a kid can use to access M-rated games, as long as that kid doesn't have a credit card or a stupid parent buying the games for them, is at their friends house.
  2. descriminatory. Comic books have adult themes and violence but aren't legally bound from being sold to minors. Same with movies

On Dead Island - the trailer everyone is talking about

So first off. Yeah this is a fantastic trailer. It tells an interesting story. It looks great. It has the unexpected. But if we have learned nothing else from Final Fantasy VIII it's that a great trailer does not a game make. This video also continues a trend i hate which is businesses that use facebook to host their website. I mean I get it you want a presence on Facebook but is it really that hard to create your own website? Some place I don't have to login and be bombarded with all my friendrequests and facebook message that I'm trying to ignore? Why link me to your facebook page when you have your own page?

For those not getting the irony here the deadisland.com page is nothing. I mean how hard is it to put up a splash page that says Coming Soon and then has links to facebook and twitter. It can be static and it would cost like $9 a year.

As for the game itself here's what we know

I understand that people in chatrooms tend to be whiney babies. Especially chatrooms that can be used for tech support, but people on IRC tend to have an almost monopolistic hold on being a dick to outsiders. So the website hasn't been working. I'm not sure if it's my side or their side. I've been trying and trying and trying. the login page loads but nothing past that so I'm 80% sure it's me. I check the twitter page and nothing is there.

What have I done to deserve this response from an OP (I'm pretty sure Darknight is an OP can't really tell with this client). I mean why have a twitter page that you apparently use for status updates based on it's previous updates and then don't updates it when the site is completely down.
