Have I not played ANY games this week? I did pick up TVSuperstars (PSMove) it was only $5 and the playthru videos on YouTube made it look decent enough. Also Splinter Cell HD, and it looks like i can't swap out my Uncharted Bundle +Controller for Resistance Bundle +Controller so I might open that tomorrow. It is nice that I officially have 4 controllers. 2 first party, 2 wired.

Heck I think for Simpsons Arcade you could get by with the Arcade controller.

Sunday
House of Lies 1x09 Ouroboros
An ok episode and the money shot was when Marty Kaan met Jeannie's husband, utterly classic. As much as I like it and the people the show as a whole is just a whole lot of words. There's not a lot of cohesion lately.

I regret not buying Rochard. I finally tried the demo. Fun. Other demos... Sonic CD.. come on guys ONE level? 300MB+. Are the syndicate demo servers down? My sister bought some French songs on the Singstore.

I bought the GoW origins collection. $20 for 12GB... 12. That took forever. Can't wait until I can play inFamous DLC Game. Also late acquisition (Saturday afternoond) was Dungeon Hunter: Allience. I had a good time with the demo. I doubt the move controls works but still. Need to buy a mouse, Splinter Cell Trilogy ($20 price match), and Red Faction: A for $15 if I can.

Once Upon A Time 1x14 Dreamy
A CLASSIC example of why using Disney as canon doesn't work. I just don't like it. And people we're all seeing this right? Amy Acker... again? I just saw her in Grimm. Still she is a pretty good Actress and I appreciated that. I really like the real world side of the stories. The fantastical...

On last week in TV featuring two worlds, from the start

Alright so my big gaming change I haven't blogged about was I bought PSMove. I got a good deal on the LBP package. PM'd $129.9 with competitor's $69.99. Also picked up Rage. I did it mostly for the camera. I wanted an Eye. First thing I did was make a DefJam Rapstar video. I haven't opened up my LBP2:SE yet but I have been toying around with move demos.

SingStar dance seems kind of fun. Like Grease Dance its fun but from a tech point it only appears to be following the wand. Everybody Dance somehow has the worst prompts. I have no idea what I'm doing. Nothing big much else has shown up. 4 Elements has Move support but I've finished the game and the controls are good.. but I'm mostly just trying to build a huge combo for a trophy I don't need to be having fun with that right now.

Long story short. Move is nothing impressive game wise I haven't finished Prehistoric Moves since you actually need a second person but I seemed to have fun with some...

Nothing much new.. Been trying out some demos.. not sure if I should buy GTAIV since it's on sale for PSN+ members. Oh yeah I'm a PSN+ member so I have to live in terror that a game I want to buy will be on sale but I can't bite because it's "Free" for PSN+ and I'll lose out when I let my membership expire. Lovely. Still I did get in on some good sales so for now I'll live with it.
Still rocking out with Rhythm Heaven for DS. I'm stalled on all my PS3 disc games so sorry Batman AA. Shuffling between Heroes of Might and Magic (PSN) and Outland (PSN)

On articles about sexism - Part 1

By Wolfkin 03-09-2011 08:14 PM
Yes I'm one of the many who was annoyed at @Gamejournos push against sexism in his blog. Unlike the others my only issue was that he has a separate blog for stories that aren't about journalism and it should have been there. Much less all the back and forth that resulted.

I'm reminded of this because I found myself reading three articles on sexism this week.

The last was from IGN

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/115/1154560p1.html

I'll recap for you. Basically IGN Editor Ryan Clements went to Japan and was at a panel for The Last Guardian where Director Fumito Ueda spoke. During the Q&A someone asked him why all his protagonists are male. Let's ignore the fact that while I don't mean to suggest girls couldn't work in the games it's just a stupid question. Like asking why the pet is bird like rather than puppy-like. Anyway Ueda says something about girls wearing skirts and given full camera control he doesn't want players to just...

First off as is often the case I tried to sound reasonable and maybe I failed. I've seen this happen time and time again. It happened with @Gamejournos i think. It happened with Girl. Sin and Punishment 2 for $1.56.. thank you very much. Just got Rock Band: Green Day for $3.76 it's been a good week. Long live the EB/GS Deal of the Day.

Also I completely forgot I bought PennyArcade bundle for $3 three weeks ago. I was doing a PSN Card swap with Gxgear and the only way I could redeem the card was on the website from my computer. Since I was there I was going thru my transaction history and found 3-4 games I forgot I own. Crazy. Here I was pouty because I thought I missed it. I even went ahead and bought Resident Evil 2 just so I wouldn't miss both of them.

GDC is the Game Developer's Conference. It's supposed to be about game developers coming together to discuss their craft. Now obviously these are guys who are working on the latest and greatest games we know and don't know about so it's to be expected that new games come up and the hottest games we're anticipating get discussed. Still I was watching this video someone linked in the a inFamous/SuckerPunch thread: http://gamespot.com/6301582

and I'm a little sickened. It looks like a bloody red carpet interview. I'm not going to go into some of his stupid questions or even some of the stupid responses, but I find the whole thing distasteful. I'm not against making developers 'famous'. Some of the good ones deserve props they'll never ever get, even in the game community. GDC however shouldn't be the place. There are trade shows 17 times a year, all over the world, where you can announce gamesm and show hottest new trailersm and roll out PR speak to your...

Here, there are two health bars, but both make sense and were never really an issue in my playthroughs. Basically, the first bar represents Wolverine's exterior. If you can grab some cover when it has been whittled down, it will begin to refill. However, if that bar is completely drained, it means Wolverine has taken enough damage to expose his vital organs. Now, a second meter with a heart on it will begin to take damage. If that one is exhausted,

inFamous and I have made up. I just got tired of wanting a play a game and not playing it. So I've been back into that and I'm back to the happy joy feelings I get from all the good parts of the game. I'm almost done with my 1st/Med/Evil playthru. Also I'm about 73 hours into DQIV and that is the greatest game to play on a bus trip ever. I'm so powerful I can just spam the A button and voila I'm grinding. So even though the train is shaking or it's so bright I can barely see my screen (i keep the brightness on low) I'm still doing something.

So as I've mentioned in the past I'm a bit soured on inFamous*. I may not have said it but this is very depressing. The game is so very ideal. I'm not really in the mood for FPS because headshoting everything that moves just isn't the way I'm feeling right now. so basically I've been playing Resistance 2. Since I don't have Resistance:Fall of Man I'm holding off on the story. That's ok because I'm still earning trophies doing the co-op. Still it's hard to play it because you become beholden to the other players. If you want to play Superhuman you have to wait 5-15 minutes for a group and even then you have no guarantee that they aren't douchebags. Yesterday I had a group that couldn't keep up with me. Everyone kept sprinting ahead before we were ready. :sigh:

Times like this I let my eyes wander to the right and spy my Wii. I always feel like it's a chore turning on my Wii. That sounds hypocritical because I'm sure you all know me as one of...

On why the inFamous save system killed the game for me

Infamous.... oh man Infamous. Let's just start with an assessment of various save systems.
  1. Single save
Games like Burnout Paradise, or Singstar have a single save file. Either it's there or it is not. You don't have to manage saves it just loads right up and usually they autosave.
  2. Game specific system
Games like the old RPGs (I'm playing Dragon Quest IV right now), House of the dead Overkill, Lit, PuzzleQuest. These games have a limited number of saves (usually 2-3) and you simply select a save slot. in the case of RPGs you can sometimes pick your name (LoZ anyone?) and it identifies it by that. Probably among the oldest systems
  3. Console system
I'm gonna include the PC here because that's the best example. Raise your hand if "Press F5 to quicksave" sounds familiar. It's a GREAT system. That's why it started on the PC. If you have all the space you can imagine and saves take up next to none why shouldn't you

I feel like everywhere I go i'm surrounded by stupid. I'm glad I don't even bother with CAG vs because the off topic is filled with the sort of people who would be against abortion if Neo-Nazi's had protests supporting it.

So anyway I started off at Gamejournos a brilliant site in concept and in execution it's no dummy either. When I came across this post (actually I saw it in my twitter timeline but no matter). Followers of the site frequently ask the same questions over and over again and one of them is do you have examples of not terrible journalism and so occasionally we get examples of good journalism.

I am now without a computer. My laptop went back to it's owner. My sister's netbook started out with a cracked hinge. Now it barely opens and when it does won't even boot into Windows. My other sister's Macbook has a completely dead battery so if the plug disconnects it's instantly dead. Since they're in class and I'm not they get priority on that computer anyway. No matter I've worked without a computer before and I'll no doubt do so again. Campus computers will actually let me run PortableApps.com so time to restore my flash drive OF POWER!!

By Wolfkin 09-24-2010 08:52 PM
Well I wanted to make a blog about gaming so i don't seem like I'm whining about girls all the time but since nothing interesting is happening in my gaming world. I'll test this out by a what I'm playing blog. Unfortunately I'm 10% still annoyed at my girl situation and maybe 30% annoyed in general for no real apparent reason so this is going to be a bit sloppy and a tad harder to read than my previous posts.

I have a lot of games with me here in Canada. Not lot like the Shipwreck collection but still. I have a lot of games that I haven't played. Quite a few sealed, but I also have a reputation for playing games all the time and so I don't like to sit and game all day because it just feeds into the myth that I don't do anything else. So the games I tend to play lately tend to be short session games. i can't bring myself to boot up Fallout 3 because I'll want to play in 4 hour sessions and I don't have that kind of time.

Well I'd planned on doing more entries before now but I've become more or less indispensable to too many people so I've barely had time for anything over the past 3 weeks. For those of you who have been stalking me thank you and I appreciate the support for my narcissistic tendencies. For those of you who haven't. Tomorrow I get my head sliced. I might have to return it because a) I can't afford any more games right now and b) I'm planning on doing my Guitar Hero gaming on my Wii. I stopped subscribing from clearance threads so I wouldn't be tempted to do things exactly like this.

First off.. Thanks Goozex

Talk about unexpected. Unfortunately Im in Canada for a while so I won't be able to play until I get this thing in my head removed. I only brought 4 Wii games and literal handful of DS games with me.

PS3... PS3... My main issue with the PS3 was the entry cost. I think it costs way more than a console should cost. That said now that I won one, I guess I don't really have any objections to it. Not too excited about the exclusives but the multi-plat stuff always looked interesting and free online is the way online should be. I've always been interested in these... I think they're called "demos"? It's difficult to remember what Nintendo doesn't tell me. So yippee ki ay. I'll see ya'll on the PSN.
