A blog that doesn't belong on a gaming site

Spoiler tagged for offensive content:

I have been trying to find a way to get rid of my religious programming. I was raised a Christian for the vast majority of my life and have JUST recently started to realize there are errors and contradictions in that faith that I just don't want to go into here. Whenever I have tried to actually go back into that faith, I start to feel an incredible sense of dread because, according to Christianity, Chinese people, Middle-Eastern people, African people, and any other people who are not dominated by Christian culture...well, the majority of them will go to hell when they die, and have no clue why. Connecting this idealism to reality is one of the scariest trippiest things you can do to yourself mentally I believe. Christians say Atheists are cynical but this...this is just fascism.

Anyway, I'd like to erase the entire idea of Christianity being true from my head so that I can get on with my life and know exactly

Types of movies that, in my opinion, need to die

By cheezisgoooood 07-10-2010 06:44 PM
I'm sorry, I just need to get this off my chest. I have been steadily losing interest in the movie industry for quite a while now, and these types of movies are a lot of the reason why. These are movies that just keep showing up again and again every single year and it's getting old. Oh, and before you ask, yes I love to make lists of things I hate/love, off.

CAUTION: This is a long, stupid rant

Something vs. Something movies
movies that have this type of title. Alien vs. Predator, Freddy Vs. Jason, Ecks Vs. Sever. I'm sure Monsters vs. Aliens was an entertaining movie, but I most likely haven't seen it because I subconsciously avoid films that have this type of title. If you wanna make a movie about two battling opponents, name it "Something Wars" or "Battle of Whatever" or "Spiderman 2" Then I won't hate it so much. It's not just the words, it's the concept. Something vs. Something kind of movies have a stench...

A couple of reasons why I love the 3DS

By cheezisgoooood 07-06-2010 09:07 PM
Updated by cheezisgoooood 07-06-2010 09:19 PM
I decided to follow up my ultra negative reaction to Microsoft's Kinect with a positive one for the 3DS. I'm not gonna pretend to be a fan of Nintendo, I used to be but when the Wii came out and they started releasing all of these cooking and exercising and sports simulators I just lost all hope in the company. 3DS has revitalized my spirit, so here's a countdown of reasons why I already love it:

6. Analog stick. Because analog sticks make everything better. They can even reverse the damage done by motion controls. Analog sticks...are miracles.

5. Higher resolution. Now the screens will look less pixelly and small objects in the distance will be much easier to spot, opening up possibilities for bigger games and finer details.

4. It's backwards compatible. I don't have a DS anymore, so when I buy this I can play all of the games I missed while I didn't have one. Pokemon here I come!

3. PSP graphics (supposedly) without the annoyingly...

A couple of reasons why I hate kinect

By cheezisgoooood 06-29-2010 10:40 AM
The kinect pisses me off. I wish they hadn't spent all of this money marketing and designing this monstrosity. I also wish they hadn't spent their entire E3 this year trying to sell it and not focusing on the actual games that people buy Xbox 360's for. So here's a couple of reasons why Kinect is a terrible idea and I won't be buying one.

3. Price. 150 dollars. Why is this a problem? Well, explain to me how Microsoft thought they would have success with a peripheral that costs almost as much as the console does. When has such a peripheral ever had success in the video game industry? That's right, never. I don't believe Microsoft will have the success they desire with this machine. Not even close. And I certainly won't be buying one myself, but imagine a confused mother wondering why she has to buy two machines instead of just one to get an experience similar to the $199 Wii.

2. Games. Where are they? Where's the game that's supposed to sell me this product?...

Backlogs suck and are pointless

By cheezisgoooood 06-26-2010 05:52 PM
At least for me. When I have too many games to play, it makes me feel overwhelmed and I just don't like it. I like to have only one game to play at a time, and I think hanging around on this website all the time is sort of destroying my normal gaming routine. Games don't go cheap until they're old, and I usually prefer playing newer games because it's more satisfying, I feel like I'm "in the now" rather than the past. Sure, sometimes I like to play a throwback match of super smash or boot up pokemon blue or red for nostalgia's sake, but enough is enough and I'm not gonna keep all of these unplayed games laying around.

For me, it's better to just cut your losses and start from scratch. I'm never going to finish all of the codemasters racing titles that I bought off Steam. I'm probably never going to finish all of the Grand Theft Auto titles either. I probably won't go back and play Deus Ex or KOTOR even though I missed those supposedly "classic" titles...

Good sequels vs. Bad sequels

By cheezisgoooood 06-03-2010 04:21 PM
Updated by cheezisgoooood 06-03-2010 11:48 PM
How much are you willing to pay for most of today's sequels? Let me start off with some cheap ass logic. You begin by purchasing a brand new game for $59.99. You take it home and you shove it in your Nintendo, and your relationship with the game has begun. Dozens and dozens of hours later, you eventually get bored. Hey, it happens, no game is perfect and everything gets old. However, you loved it so much that you vow that whenever there is a sequel to that game, you will do a day one purchase and buy the super limited ultimate cake edition with sprinkles and a doll helmet plus a crummy action figure. OH BOY! A year later, the sequel comes out. Whoa, that was quick. You shell out your 120 + tax and take it home to start a brand new relationship. You eat the cake and the sprinkles, wear the helmet as a hat for about 30 seconds, then shelve the action figure on some desk to post pictures of on your gaming blog later and there goes the full value of the cake edition. The campaign is now half...

Hey disappointed Lost fans, don't give up yet!

By cheezisgoooood 05-24-2010 10:33 PM
The meaning of life was really in there somewhere! Just watch it again and keep looking.

But seriously though, am I the only one that thinks that maybe some of the disappointment is actually the fault of the viewers for setting such high expectations? When has anything in life ever met the expectations Lost fans had for the finale? Seriously?

You can rant all day about how the writers didn't give you the "answers" you wanted...but I'm glad that they didn't do it like they did in the Matrix where it was some old fart sitting in a chair explaining everything to Neo in an absurdly pretentious manner that created an emotional disconnect between the movie and everyone watching it. Sure, maybe you'd get your answers, but what do you lose in exchange for them? You lose the entire mysterious nature of the show. The series was fun because it was puzzling, and it still is, and I'd like to keep it that way. Lost will always be a mystery, and also a fantastic...

Halo: Reach already boring?

By cheezisgoooood 05-15-2010 08:34 PM
Halo games for me have gotten boring more and more quickly after I've bought them. Halo 3 was good for a couple of months, Halo: ODST returned to its home at my local gamestop via trade-in a mere month after being bought, and I have almost zero desire to join my friends in Halo: Reach beta matches after just two weeks of playing.

I must have some sort of Halo repellant or some curse that makes me unable to enjoy Halo games as much as my friends do. My friends were playing Halo 3 a year after I had traded it in but I was unphased...when I'm done with a game, I'm done.

Thoughts on Mass Effect trilogy

By cheezisgoooood 04-19-2010 11:22 PM
For me, one of my greatest gaming disappointments was the original Mass Effect. However, Mass Effect 3 is now probably my number 1 most anticipated game. It's funny how a massively improved sequel changed my entire perception of the trilogy as a whole.

Mass Effect 2 sucked me into its characters and story. I loved making decisions that affected the way it played out. I was addicted to it and absolutely HAD to complete everything in the game before moving on. Once I finished it I was inspired to buy Mass Effect again for my PC (I bought Mass Effect originally for 360, sold it, bought Mass Effect 2 on PC...so had to rebuy the original) and so far it's been an up-and-down experience for me.

Sometimes I just get too distracted by how underdeveloped all of its elements are in comparison to Mass Effect 2. It lacked the focus and production quality of the second installment, but I...

Amazon saved Christmas!!!

By cheezisgoooood 12-23-2009 03:29 PM
I can now stop worrying about my camcorder not arriving before my trip to Taiwan.

I called Amazon today after learning that the Canon service center will in fact guaranteed not be able to ship my camcorder back before my trip to Taiwan. Amazon customer service was kind and understanding and promptly sent us an email saying that a replacement camcorder would be coming tomorrow. I now realize calling Amazon in the first place would've been a better idea, but I was hoping to get the tape that was lodged permanently inside the camcorder back because it has precious footage on it, and now both problems are solved.

Bravo, Amazon .

Have you ever tried to be nice to someone?

By cheezisgoooood 12-17-2009 11:55 PM
Only to have it blow up in your face and make you feel sorry you ever did it?

I've been building a website for my neighbor for a long time. Every time I make a change he wants something else done to it. It's the never-ending job.

And what's worse is that he acts like it's my fault that it's taking so long for it to be "done". I'd like to know what the word "done" means in his dictionary because in my dictionary it means a website that displays his work quickly and smoothly without looking tacky and provides his contact information and a biography about himself and what he does. My website features all of these. I've spent many hours and days that I'd like to have back worrying about the changes that he wants made to the website, only so that he can continue to be unsatisfied.

Let me clarify before anyone says I shouldn't complain if I have a job to do.

1. I am not being paid a dime for this. He took me to halloween...

I HATE when things break >_<

By cheezisgoooood 12-17-2009 12:49 PM
A couple of weeks back my mom did the best thing ever for me and bought me the camcorder that I desperately wanted for christmas. It is a very expensive camcorder that records in HD and uses Mini DV tapes, producing the maximum image quality that I wanted so badly. One of the main MAIN reasons that I wanted this camcorder was so that I could record my upcoming trip to Taiwan/Japan next month. I leave on this trip on the 31st. Problem is, my camcorder is on its way to the service center right now, and I don't know when it will come back.

The camcorder will not eject the tape that is in it. It's a Canon VIXIA HV40, and the tape eject mechanism is motorized, so the tape is stuck in there. The tape has important footage on it, I can't simply record over it and send it in after the trip, and I need more than an hour's worth of tape to record on.

The camcorder should be arriving at the service center tomorrow, and from then, they told me that it will take 2-3...

If my plane stops in Japan...what then?

By cheezisgoooood 10-29-2009 04:54 PM
I'm seeking help from any CAGs out there who have been to the Japan airport and have possibly had to stay there overnight on their own. I have a trip to Taiwan coming up in January, and the trip back involves a 20 hour long overnight stay in Japan for the connecting flight.

This is the ONLY flight that has the convenient arrival and departure times that I need. My questions are, a. will they let me leave the Japan airport without a special visa, and b. are there hotels that have shuttles going straight from the Narita airport and then back the next day? How dangerous is it to stay in Japan alone when it's only for a night?

I'm finding it hard to find this information on google. Any help would make me a happy CAG.

RAAAWWWRRR!!!!!

did this for my 3D design class. I incorporated two of my broken 360 controllers, one black, one white, into a dragon. Later I added legs. I got an A+ for this and the teacher called it one of the best works of the semester. Awesome .

(Un)screw the Xbox 360 controller!

By cheezisgoooood 03-09-2009 03:22 PM

Please help me unscrew these!

I have to disassemble something in my house for a school project and I chose my broken xbox 360 remote, but I can't find the screwdriver to unscrew it >_<.

Gamestop didn't know, and told me they're really hard to find. Where would be the most likely place to find these in a store? Thanks.

Oh and my previous projects were about the 360 controller as well. I've made it a trend.

(Made out of bamboo skewers and hot glue)

Yes, that is a pair of 360 controllers playing super mario bros. Shut up .

I made the analog sticks movable too .

I made another one out of folded bits of paper but I don't have the pictures of that one yet.
