So yes, this blog is going to be about girls and it’s going to be a giant wall of text, live with it. Bear with me, I’m trying to condense 8 months of stuff into a blog post it’ll be long.
I can’t blog about this on my normal blog because the girl in question reads that. Thankfully I’ll always have my CAG blog (not that it’s inferior it’s just not the audience for some of the stuff I blog about).

So let’s get started with some background on this matter. Just a note, our grade system is different because we did the IB (International Baccalaureate) but I’ll convert it to the regular grade school- high school numbers you know 1st to 12th grade.

I’ve known her for 9 years now, from 4th grade. We just graduated from high School. We had always been friends (and still are).We were just normal friends. Shared a bus to school and back were in the same class. Then round 8th grade I became the guy. You know the one everyone runs to when they have problems (not just for her I may add, but somehow for quite a lot of girls and guys both in my grade and in my brother’s grade below). The guy who listens to everyone’s problems. I didn’t always offer advice usually I just listened and was sympathetic and stuff. Yes I am your stereotypical nice guy. And so after years of this, I ended up becoming her best friend who happens to be a guy and she in turn became my best friend who happened to be a girl.

So fast forward to our second last year of high school (our Junior year). Up to this point I had been chasing after another girl and yeah that didn’t work out, but I got over that. When I finally got over the girl I had been pining for (believe me that’s another long story all together). It was round half way through the year and I, like an Idiot fell for my best friend. It was like I finally got my head out of my ass and realized what was in front of me. I still don’t see how I didn’t notice it before but that’s life I guess. Now the realization that I had more than friendly feelings for my best friend is not something I jumped for joy about. In fact as things were it just made life a lot harder. Do I tell her? Do I sit on it? We were already being crushed under the monumental pile of soul destroying work the IB required from us. Oh and also she was just coming off a bad break up. Which I naturally heard all about since as I said I am the guy everyone goes to when they need someone to talk to. Plus we have a long and quiet enjoyable friendship. I didn’t want to make things awkward between us. She was in a bad place, I wasn’t sure about my feelings and we had exams in 2 weeks. It wasn’t the time to start (or attempt to start a relationship). So I waited.

Summer came and went, she went on holiday, I did as well but as usual we talked over instant messaging for hours on end, nothing changed between us.

Here it was, Senior year! The year where everything goes by in a flash and is magical and what not. Yeah sure. Anyone who has done/is doing IB knows that the second year of IB is when it straps you down and begins torturing you with such an indescribable amount of work that sometimes it feels like they expect you to get no sleep at all. So it was now or never. A relationship with a time limit (as soon as we graduate we’re both going different ways so there’s basically no hope of continuing afterwards) but I didn’t mind and I don’t think she would either. It was time for me to go for it. I didn’t want it to be awkward though. I realized this was a big risk. I had to approach it delicately. If she didn’t feel the same way it could destroy what we’ve had for the last 9 years and I didn’t want that. I decided to ask her to prom. It seemed like the safest bet. Asking her to prom could be a date, or she could just want to go as friends or she could say no. Obviously if she wanted it to be a date then I would ask her out properly. Basically it was me testing the waters. So on her birthday (which happens on to be on Valentine’s Day) I asked her to prom. She said yes, but just as friends. I should have just accepted it, but I had to let her know that there were other options so I said “If that’s what you want”. Not subtle but I couldn’t think of anything else. She smiled but said that “she had lost too many friends to relationships” and she didn’t want that to happen to me. HELLOOOO friend zone. At least she knew I had feelings for her now. Right?

Still nothing changed. She just got super excited for prom and we talked about that for hours on end (in addition to the everyday stuff we talked about). I still thought I had a chance. We weren’t even halfway through the year.

I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that I was Deputy Head Boy (yes I came in second ha flaming ha). Now it’s basically just a badge, we (myself and the Deputy Head Girl) don’t really do anything. One of the few responsibilities we have is to organize the annual school talent show. Now this year the talent show coincided with the annual Model United Nations (MUN) that another school hosts. Honestly I don’t really give a fuck
about the MUN it’s not really my thing. It’s just a lot of extra work which no one in the second year of IB needs. She was going though. While she was there she obviously made a lot of new friends. Schools from all over Dubai are part of it. MSN accounts were exchanged and phone numbers traded. Still didn’t matter they were just friends. Fine with me (and even if it wasn’t fine I wasn’t going to do anything about it. She’s perfectly free to make her own choices). I was curious since she mentioned this guy a lot. No alarm bells were ringing. Then I met him.
I don’t know if it’s just me but I can tell when someone has deeper feelings for someone. It was at a party, he walked in, looked at her and I knew. “Oh FUCK not again” I thought to myself. This is what happened last time. He has feelings for her as well.

So now it was a competition. Except she had clearly said she doesn’t want a relationship at all since she just wanted to focus on her studies. So there was no prize. Or so we thought. He started talking to her till 4am and our conversations were becoming increasingly sporadic. The only thing I had going for me was that we went to school together, while he was elsewhere. So I had more face time with her and I made the most of it. People tell me I’m funny but I don’t really try to be, it just happens. That helps a lot, nothing like keeping people laughing, to strengthen your friendships.

I had two plans in my head. Number one, try and get our nightly conversations back. Number two. Find out everything I can about the other guy and keep track of what he’s doing with her. Number one took time but it happened. I just did my best and eventually we were back to our talkative ways. Number two was a lot easier. Everyone my age is on the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr you name it someone my age will have an account. Once you know a person’s name you can find out a lot about them. I also had a built in excuse from that party we met at since I did my best to “become friends” with him in whatever way one can at a party. It also helped that a lot of people who used to be in my school moved to his school and I was still tight with them. Any I followed him, friended him subscribed to him, whatever. He started to write about her indirectly, so I wrote indirect poems about her (on my other blog, like I said CAG may not be the place for indirect poems, or poems in general). Now I’m pretty sure he noticed because he responded with more and while we never addressed each other directly, if someone knew all the details about what was going on it wasn’t hard to miss what was happening between us. Just to clarify she still maintained that she didn’t want a relationship at all and all she wanted to do was concentrate on her studying to get the grades she needed to get into college. For a while I thought I had the upper hand since my writing was definitely superior to his. I was also fairly sure that would it come to it, I could beat him in any sort of physical competition between us (while I do play video games and read, I also played on the football team (soccer we don’t have “American Football” in Dubai though I wish we did”) as well as the basketball team). I was definitely in better shape than him. Too bad people don’t duel for women anymore. Then he did the one thing I couldn’t do. He painted her. I can’t paint. I can’t draw; I have no artistic ability what so ever. More than that, it was a direct message. There was no way it could be interpreted different. So I responded with a very direct poem (Used her full name to write a poem about how much she means to me). Anyway she definitely noticed both of them because she blogged about them, but she just said that they were nice thoughts and thanked us both. So we were still even as far as my internal score counter was concerned.

Exams came and went; finally it was time for prom. Now as she very specifically said she only wanted to go as friends. There must be a line somewhere she didn’t want me to cross. A line that separated friendship and relationship. Since she didn’t want me to cross it, for the sake of the friendship I didn’t want to cross it either. So I toned it down a bit when we went to prom. I did everything, danced with her the whole night (there were no slow songs -_- what a crappy DJ, he had terrible transitions between songs as well but I digress), held the door open for her, made her laugh, everything but I tried to limit physical contact. In on other words I didn’t walk around with my arm around her the whole night, just for pictures. Now to make it clear, I didn’t ignore her, I didn’t leave her and run off to dance with other people, I was just my usual self. My nice, goofy usual self. It was one of the best nights of my life (No nothing else happened). I also thought it went pretty well. I toed the line, I didn’t do anything stupid like try to kiss her, but I didn’t ignore her either. Apparently she’s annoyed that I didn’t do more. Even when she specifically told me she didn’t want to go on a date. I don’t know what else I could have done that wouldn’t spill over into “date” territory.

The weekend after prom there was a party that I wasn’t invited to, where once again he met her. After which he tweets that “And in that singular night, he remembered just how much he enjoyed her company.” Three days later, (which is today) they are going to Café Ceramique alone where he plans to paint her face onto some crockery. Now it doesn’t take a genius to see that it’s a date.

So once again, I lost.

And now, I have to get over her to save the friendship.

So what did I do wrong? Was it falling for my best friend in the first place? Not making a stronger case earlier on? Did I screw up prom? Or was I just neck deep in the friend zone? Am I jumping to conclusions? Is there still any hope? Is there still any point?

and the long story with in depth details and my personal thoughts on what happened.

Short Story

Long Story:

So I was walking out of English class when I met a bunch of Grade 7's (Year 7's whatever) outside and they all immediately start asking me questions such as "What happened to him?" "Did he fall off the roof?" "Did he run into the door?"(Grade 7's talk to me all the time even though I'm a Senior I've coached many of them in Football (Soccer if you must call it that) so it
wasn't out of the ordinary and I'm friendly with a lot of people anyway). Now I thought the 7's were just messing around so I answered them
that I had no idea what happened. I walked around the corner to get to my Arabic class and glanced out the window and I immediately understood
what they were talking about.

The block we were in is shaped out like a giant square doughnut, with the part in the middle being a court yard where students can hang out during breaks. So when I leave my English class I can’t see the courtyard. When I turned the corner I was able to see what the 7’s were talking about. In the corner of the courtyard near the door that leads to what I’ll call the language wing (all the second language classes and the library are there) I see the Headmaster, the two Deputy Headmaster, the Dean of students, the Head of Maintenance and I see the school Doctor holding an IV bag while paramedics are doing something to a body (I couldn’t see very well form my vantage point). I also notice a massive amount of blood that definitely wasn’t there in the morning.

I stopped and stared. It was like something from a movie. The body had its head wrapped in something white but even from where I was standing I could see that it was almost completely soaked through with blood. I look around and now a lot of people are starting to stare (being Deputy Head Boy, yes I came second) I make them move on because they were starting to block the corridor. I then realize that my Arabic class’s window is basically right next to where the body was. So I basically run to my Arabic class where I find an Arabic teacher in a state of shock. My Arabic teacher is sitting next to him and she is crying her eyes out. While watching the scene outside the Arabic teacher (the guy) starts to tell us what happened.

He said he didn’t see the body hit the ground but he heard it, the way he describes it, was as if a giant iron block hit the ground right next to him. He ran outside with the other teachers who saw what happened, the body was lying on the ground, it had landed on its side and whatever limbs were not trapped underneath its weight were convulsing. This worried the teachers the most. Anyway the Dean of Students was just walking by when it happened so he was already there and trying to stop the bleeding. One teacher went to get the School Doctor, while the others went to get something to stop the bleeding with. They brought a bunch of tissue (what else were they going to use?) but then they ran into the door. That particular door doesn’t open very far its old and when you try to push it anything wider than a quarter open it will stick. They couldn’t open the door wide enough to hand the tissues to the Dean of Students without moving the body. If you’ve taken first Aid the first thing you learn is that you try to move the injured as little as possible. So the Dean of Students broke one of the glass panels so that they could hand him the tissues and what not (Which is why the 7’s thought the guy ran into the door or something, they saw the broken glass). Anyway after that I saw everything else. The nurse seemed to get him stable and then the medics arrived. By now the aforementioned “important” people were on the scene and people were telling people to keep moving (teachers included). The police arrived as well. The paramedics wheel in one of those stretchers on wheels, lift him ever-so gently and wheel him away. I was watching him for about 40 minutes and he didn’t move once.
So now why the fuck would he jump? Well it’s what makes this story insane. So the upstairs boys bathroom (there’s the ground floor and the first floor so two levels in total) is the popular place for the schools smokers to take a quick puff on their pipes (they smoke tobacco in a pipe not like those seen in movies such as Sherlock Holmes but something similar). This bathroom is also the only bathroom that has two doors in it, one that leads to the corridor :dunce: and the other leads to a storage room which has a window. Now this person who I found out is (or was? I don’t know if he’s still alive) a Sophomore and 3 Seniors (who while they aren’t friends of mine I do know them, you know just people you talk to once in a while) were smoking in the upstairs in the bathroom. An English teacher (who also coaches our Senior football (soccer) team) caught them smoking. He held the door shut from the outside while he sent someone to get the Dean of Students. While the 3 Seniors where figuring out what alibi to use and how to hide the pipes, the Sophomore went through the other door and (from now we can only guess what happened cause he sure can’t say anything as of now) climbed out of the window. I guess he was trying to get onto the wooden structure that provides shade and that circles the courtyard.

Now I don’t know if he slipped and fell after getting on the shade safely, or he misjudged the distance from the ledge to the structure and fell, or if his foot got caught on the window sill (The windows don’t open that wide that’s why people didn’t believe that he could fit through there but after looking at the distance the window leaves when it’s open I’m sure he could have) and that made him fall. Maybe he was panicking and just jumped for it I don’t know. Anyway the police interviewed the 3 Seniors. They took pictures of the scene and were gone just as fast as they had arrived (I guess they were investigating it for a possible “attempted suicide” but everyone is sure it wasn’t), I seriously doubt the Seniors had anything to do with it, because while they make stupid decisions like smoking in school, I know they posses enough common sense not to have “helped” the Kid in anyway.
Now people who saw him hit the ground were in total shock, like fucking movie I’m not saying anything shock. That was probably the worst part because one of my friends saw it and she just stared at everyone for the rest of the day (although I managed to make her laugh after the last lesson of the day). So I guess the damage may be more wide spread then the guy’s skull and/or other major organs.

Now the thing is I HATED this kid. He always pissed me off at every chance he got. Whenever I was on Prefect duty he made it a point to mess with me daily. Now no matter how many times I reported him he always got away with it because he was a local (form the U.A.E.) and they can usually get away with anything. I’ve held a grudge against him for the last year because I could not tolerate his shit anymore and any encounters he had with me would always end in a confrontation which would always leave me wishing he was dead. Yup the thought “Just go die/just go get hit by a bus/ just go jump out a window” had occurred to me multiple times whenever I thought of this numskull.

So now when he did jump out the window, I kind of don’t care. If it was anyone else I would be worried, I would be asking questions about their conditions (I care too much sometimes), but I’m surprisingly cold towards him. I just don’t give a shit what happens to him. I feel kind of bad of course (his little brother died 2 years ago and people say he was acting out because of that) but when I ask myself do I honestly want to him to get better? I can’t say yes for sure because it’s not the truth. If by some miracle he emerges unscathed he will probably become more of an asshole, on the other hand he may finally have taken the knock to the head that knocks some sense into him. But honestly I just don’t give a shit. If he dies I’m not going to cry over him, if he survives he’ll probably piss me off again within a week’s time. I just feel kind of weird because I guess I never thought I would feel anything else but sadness at a person’s misfortune (even if he brought it upon himself) but this time, I just don’t give a flying shit on the moon.

I’ll update this blog later when I find out what happened to him.

I also figured out how he fell. So today in break I went to check out the bathroom. The window up there (while it looks like you couldn’t fit through from a distance) opens wider then all the others because the latch that connects it to the frame is broken. I also know what he was thinking, when I looked out of the window, I could see that due to the shape of the window ledge he would not be able to see that the shade structure was not connected to the wall. From up there it looks like the structure is connected to the wall directly underneath the window. So I think the safest thing to assume is that he tried to lower himself on to the “structure” (which was nowhere near him), his foot must have hit the edge of the structure because eye witnesses said he hit the ground on his side. So his foot catching on the structure caused him to “flip” over into the position he landed in. He went through the space between the structure and the wall.

I also talked to the Seniors who were in the bathroom with him. They told me that when the teacher was holding the door shut from outside the sat down on the sinks (the sinks aren’t individual sinks they are all connected so yes you can sit on them and started figuring out what to do). While they were sitting there the Sophomore was pacing up and down the bathroom. Now from the sinks you can’t see the second door of the bathroom (the one that leads to the storage room) because the toilet stalls are blocking the line of sight. So they didn’t see him leave the bathroom through the second door. They only realized something was wrong when they heard the guy hit the floor. They realize he’s not in the bathroom with them, they see the closet door open, run into the closet and see the open window, they look down, see his twitching body and immediately run to the “main” door (the one that leads to the hallway) and start hammering on it screaming at the teacher to let them out because the Sophomore had jumped.

Now obviously for the first minute the teacher didn’t believe them, but after a minute he realized that something was really wrong because the Seniors were shouting that they didn’t care about getting in trouble but the Sophomore needed help, so he let them out and they dragged the teacher down the stairs so that he could see that they weren’t lying.
Well once again I’ll update when I get back to school (I’m going back on Monday because our exams have started and I don’t have an exam on Sunday so I don’t need to go, don’t expect anything before then)

A brief explanation. Codons are codes for the amino acids that make up our dna. the codons are Cystosine, Guanine, Uracil and Adenine (this is when it codes on r n a, for dna replace uracil with thymine.) anyway there are 20 amino acids and by arranging the letters CGAU in groups of three you get a particular amino acid depending on the order. Heres the chart for determining which codons code for which amino acids.

Dubai is by no means an under developed country, we are exapnding quickly and becoming recognised internationally recognised (or at least you have heard oru name somewhere), that's why i was shocked by what i saw happen today.

Some background first Dubai has an incredibly large expat community when compared th the local community, now most locals welcome this with open arms , however there are some complete fucking retards who think there are better then everyone around them, I've been in situations where we've been waiting in line for an hour and you just get to the front when a local barges staight to the front without excuse and just goes next.

Que today as i was riding home from school (My driver, me and my brother) I'm 16 and 6 foot 2 (and pretty darn fit although not completly buff) my brother is 15 and about 5 foot 9 so together we are quite an imposing pair, my driver is 19 and about 6 foot even although he is quite skinny, as we turn the corner to get to my house (single lane road) we see a shiny SUV full of 4 locals ( you can always tell because they were their traditional dress) trying to over take a a battered old rusty sedan. To one side is a line of houses (with no space for 2 cars to pass side by side) and to the other is a an empty plot of land. After sitting on the poor guy's ass for 10 minutes trying to make him go faster, the SUV proceeds to overtake him on the side with the empty plot of land. Thinking it was over i stopped focusing on the scene in front off me.

That's when the SUV suddenly braked, hit the hazard lights now i thought they just had a flat tire or something, all 4 locals (they must have been between 19-23 years old) got out but instead of checking their tires, they rushed towards the sedan (obviously it stopped), within 30 seconds they had the guy out of his car (the poor guy obviously was not local) and were beating the living shit out of him, I couldn't believe my eyes, they weren't just pushing him around they were literally beating the stuffing out of him, I snapped out of my daze. First thing i did was dial the cars number plate (we only use numbers in dubai no letters) on my phone so that i would have it saved somewhere, then my brother, my driver and I ran to this guys defense, these locals (and again not all of them are fucking retards like these ones were) took one look at us and ran for it. After helping the guy up I began to call the police but the victim stopped me. He said he just wanted to continue and he didn't have time to press charges because he needed to work and didn't have time (most expats arrive here to find work to send money back to their family) to press charges, he then got into his battered old sedan and drove away.

I just stood there like an Idiot with my brother standing next to me, we turned around got back in the car and went home.
P.S. The problem is in Dubai there's no place to rent games, there's also no place to sell back games so I'm stuck with whatever I buy. right here are my options

all three are good games, I've read all the reviews and I'm still split the only difference between them is that for some strange reason they are all priced differently
Left 4 Dead costs 249 dhs (bout 67.7 dollars)
Mk v DC costs 279 dhs (about 76 dollars. this is the regular price of 360 games here)
Prince of Persia for some unknown reason costs 289 dhs (about 79 dollars)

Our currency is the dirham, it's about 1 dollar to 3.67310 dirhams. Being only 16, i only have a debit card (fair enough i guess) on my debit card I have 21 dirhams left, great I run the conversion (thanks www.xe.com) 5 dollars is about 18.8 dirhams, great so I'm perfectly willing to fork out the cash, I hit the nifty chip in widget on the front page. and I'm taken to pay pals sign up page, which I do. I am suddenly informed that " a sum of 1 dollar and 95 cents will be deducted from my cards account and will be returned to you when you input the last 4 numbers (of this transaction) from your card statement and we will refund your money . Now here's the problem 1.95 dollars = 7.16 dirhams. bear in mind I have 21 dirhams exactly left on my DEBIT CARD 21 minus 7.16256 (to be exact) is 13.83744,

So now I'm five Dirhams short of 18.8 dirhams which is the equivalent to 5 dollars U.S
