To the CAG community, please feel free to give me advice on my writing. I am attempting to become a better writer if not to get into the gaming industry but possibly another.


I am 25 years old and just graduated college. Like many college graduates I am trying to find work. I was a manager for video game store that went out of business last summer, and have been unable to find work since then. Thankfully I had school to fall back on, although there are more educated kids in today’s working class than ever before.

Working in the game industry has been a dream of mine my entire life. Ever since I saved my first princess or slayed my first dragon. I knew working with video games industry was something I wanted to do. The problem occurred with trying to find out what in the game industry I wanted to do. My friends come to me for advice on a new game to buy. I want to transition idea into writing about video games. Reviews, previews, news, play a part in writing about gaming.

There is not a genre of game I do not enjoy. My collection of games is more varied then flavors of ice cream at Baskin Robins. I am willing to try and play nearly any style of game. I believe if you wish to be a good journalist, you need to be open minded and willing to try anything out. When people saw Angry Birds for the first time, I would image some did not think it to be the phenomenon it is today.

Going to E3 would help get my foot in the door into the game industry. Ever since hearing about E3 as child I have wanted to go. Unfortunately cost and other factors have kept me from going each year. I would be willing to do anything to go, I would cover any game, watch any presentation, whatever it took. Now that I no longer working at a game store, I am unable to attend, and I fear that my chance is gone for good.

I know there are going to be many people who apply for this. And many of them may be more qualified than I am. I can ensure you one thing, no one will work harder, or put as much time and effort as I would if you choose me for this opportunity.

If you... I am not sure how many people here on CAG are political but I feel as if this is important. If you are not political, its a good time to learn a little bit about the political spectrum. If you are not sure what your political party association is, you should watch CNN or your local news. FOX News and MSNBC are not ideal for someone with no political association.

On to my rant. I voted Democrat in the last election and in most elections. I am only 25 years old so I do not have the longest of voter history. Sense being unemployed last July, I have spent time learning more about politics. Its an interesting subject but frustrating at the same time.

I am frustrated because I see people on Facebook, Twitter, ect.. Complaining about the teachers and other government jobs possibly losing their employment or benefits. In addition you are hearing people complain about the possibility of Planned Parenthood losing their funding. Well America you voted for this. The "Tea Party" and many other republicans in the last election cycle, said they were going to cut spending at any cost.

I do agree that we should cut spending, it would be great if America did not spend so much money. If Obama did not cave and let the Bush tax cuts expire at the beginning of the year. The money would be there for all these programs. Many people don't realize, those tax cuts only effect people who earn more than $250,000 a year.

I am aware there are some programs that need to get cut. For instance the Military spends way too much. I am not going to get into that, but a fun fact I heard. Out of the 28 highest countries military spending, we are allies with 27 of those Nations, and we spend more than all of those 28 countries combines.

Again I am not trying to anger people here, but at the end of the day. I am 3 episodes in and having a difficult time getting into the show. The main character Don Draper so far is not a likable character. Kind of an ass and cheats on his wife.

I just finished up watching the 4 season of Dexter and wow that is a great show. Any CAG out there know if the show gets better or should I just cut my loses and sell the other two seasons sense they have yet to be opened.

I didn't really have a gaming PC when I was growing up, thus I never really played the original StarCraft. I have plated a couple different RTS's and do enjoy the genre. I also just have a laptop that will run the game but I never play games on it. So just curious from the CAG community if a non PC gamer who never really played the original Starcraft; should get the Starcraft 2?

To be honest I dont have much interest in playing the original game, I know its cheap and all but I don't want to play such an old title. Unless I am really missing out in the story line.

I was told last week the store was closing and due to many of the other stores in the area closing I was not going to have a store to go to. Most people would hear this and be extremely disappointed. Trust me I was, at the same time this gives me the opportunity to finally finish my schooling.

I have been trying to finish school for some years now. I started going to college right out of high school and next week will be my 25th birthday. I have never taken a term off or anything like that. I just take very few courses due to working full time and trying to manage a store.

Needless to say I am going to have a lot of free time on my hand. I am living with my fiance and we get married in July, she has a job as an nurse soI will be the one at home doing the cooking and cleaning. Thank god no kids.

I have some store credit at Game Crazy that needs to be used up, due to so many stores closing we are not sending back or good games, everything will be on sale and liquidation. I need some help.

I have been in a gaming funk recently. I am pretty sure this has to do with stress with the wedding coming up, and having a good idea eventually I am going to be jobless due to a nowhere company. What games should I pick up? I like most games, not a huge rpg fan and racing, other than that I like good games. The thing is I own most of the games that have come out recently so perhaps a hidden gem on PS3, XBOX360, or even the WII (who knows, there could be a fun WII game).

I am not looking for sympathy or anything like that. I have scene this coming for a long time. No matter how prepared you can be for losing your job it kind of sucks. And typing up this blog and posting it on here does really help me out. I don't like talking to the fiance about it, it tends to worry her about money and its kind of emasculating being the one at home not taking care of a family.
