Well, il start off this short blog with a bit of retrospective.

Im a 90s baby. 1990 to be exact.

So i like to classify my childhood as the last of the golden era of.....well....everything, to an extent.

I feel my era was the last era of good cartoons, toys, music, hobbies and last but not least, video games. Of course this isnt the most robust list of things i feel were the best in my days, and hell, i could even be wrong in the eyes of someone who grew up in the 80s or 70s, but compared to the young generation of today, i wouldnt trade my childhood for this nonsense any day of the week.

I had to get that out of the way because growing up as a child of the 90s, one of the things that adored the most, was seeing technology advance. And i dont mean the way it is now.

Right now, technology is all about application of limitless resources.
When i was growing up, (or at least this is how it seems) technology was all about innovating with the limited resources at hand.

This meant that every new console release pushed the bar a bit higher to places never seen before. The originators of Pong would never have imagined that an oscilloscope would help spawn something of pure genius that we know today as the NES.
Then, when you thought it couldnt get any better, they announce the Super Nintendo, and mario became more detailed, and the colors were more vibrant, and the music had more depth, and then the N64 where Mario came to life in 3 dimensions, and then gamecube where he was as close to real life as he could possibly get and so on and so forth.

I LIVED for those days. I couldnt WAIT till they showed off how far technology had gotten. Every single time they announced something new, it meant something NEW and vastly improved. Every iteration of the gameboy completely improved upon its predecessor.
The gameboy pocket got rid of the 4 AA battery problem, and made games look crystal clear without that greenish yellow tint. The Gameboy color brought the home console feeling as close to home as it had been since the massive game gear. The Advance pushed even further with its gorgeous widescreen and the SP sealed the Deal with a backlight.

But the thing that really made those advancements worth it, were the GAMES!!!!!!!!!
They made playing GAMES more enjoyable.

And this is my main problem with the PS4.

The PS4 has in terms of hardware, really pushed the bar very high.......but it doesnt matter!!!
Developers seem to spend more time making sure the games look good then they do making sure the games are fun in the first place. And herein lies the problem, the bar doesnt really need to be pushed that much further for games to look good. Im of the opinion that this current gen does a great job of making games look good. Of course these consoles could use a bit more RAM, but it seems developers have gotten a hang of this anyway. Gears of War 3 is an amazing looking game, think about how much more detail could you possibly want out of a game?

Does a new crash bandicoot need a top of the line gaming PC to run? Uncharted already looks fantastic, how much better can you REALLY make it look? At this point, does it matter how much more detailed you can make NBA 2K seem? How much better do you want Call of Duty to look?

The bar is as good as it needs to be for games to do it, and if there is one thing ive learned, its that better graphics does NOT always equal a better game(king obvious)

My Opinion:
The PS4 has not innovated at all, the PS4 is a collection of foolish ideas that only people with good internet connections will be able to take advantage of. Streaming PS1,2 and 3 games? Sounds ok, but what if youre like alot of people i know who use 1mb DSL? what if PSN goes down after a massive security breach again? Think about all your favorite PS3 games, how many of those games did you REALLY use the sixaxis for if it was an option?
All of the new features for the PS4 were not meant for gamers at all.

So as a child of the 90s, i see this console announcement and i just think to myself how time has passed. The child in my heart would have been more content with a console half as strong as the PS4, but maybe with more ideas that make it easier on the gamer. For example, my Idea of the perfect PS4(as unrealistic as it sounds would probably go something like this)

Improved online system similar to Xbox live.
The ability to chat with friends while playing games
I want FULL backwards compatibility with all ps1,2 and 3 games.
I want to be able to install my ps1 games(crazy and abusable i know) id even pay to be able to do this.
I want people to see what im playing even if im playin a PS1,2 or 3 game
Ability to seamlessly join online games, drop the invitation nonsense
Deal with latency issues on PSN
Sell more PS1 and 2 games on PSN
Improved controller - basically the DS4 is nice, just take off the touch pad and stupid motion sense crap, leave the rest. The cold grip is nice as well has headset port.
Official inexpensive wired headsets

and maybe a few other ideas that i cant really think of at the moment, but basically make GAMING the main idea behind a GAME console. Make it easier on developers to make games people enjoy(x86 was a step in the right direction)

This goes back to what i was saying before, those changes from console to console back in the day were very significant changes, yet they werent these huge change that blew everyone away, it was the little things that just added to the experience. NES to SNES saw a few upgrades, but nothing insanely drastic. PS1 to PS2 pushed the bar with hardware upgrade, but again, nothing too drastic in terms of execution. You put the game in and played. Controllers became wireless, HD output started rolling out, and then online gaming took over. All things to make gaming fun.

And thats what made it all exciting, knowing that when this next console comes out, im going to be able to enjoy my games more, Yet with the PS4 it seems its meant to replace every other media device in my household other then its own predecessor.

Im depressed because its over. I feel sorry for the kids of this generation. Wont be able to enjoy the simple things in life, like Yo-yo and only having to catch and trade only 151 pokemon using an actual link cable.

oohhhhhh the 90s *sigh*

Thanks for reading ^_^

This is one of those, "Im sure you know, but in case you dont" kind of PSA's

I renewed my Xbox Live with a 12 month Prepaid card, and shortly received an email.

So im like "Wait....i never signed up for any of that?"

Apparently using a prepaid card turns on Automatic Renewal of Xbox Live For you. it never did this to me before So it caught me off guard.

Make sure you turn this option off at Xbox.com. Nothing in the world like finding out you overdrafted by having bought Xbox Live even though you didnt know it was on.

Just a msg to those who didnt know.

And if you did, then just walk on by lol

My Strange Luck

Whats Good everyone

Anyone who keeps in check with me knows about my recent happenings. I've been having some of the weirdest shit happen to me lately and i could never understand why.

I believe things happen to people for a reason....for the most part. Generally, if something bad is happening to you, youre doing SOMETHING wrong. Now, that might sound a bit too broad for you all, but in my eyes it makes sense like this:

If you generally have good luck, then out of nowhere you go on a streak of strange luck, something is going on. Good luck is earned according to me, you reap what you sew. You do good, you get good. So needless to say, ive been on an extremely great luck streak for a very long time, and in turn ive tried much harder and put much effort into keeping good karma. I do things that benefit myself and those around me as much as i can.

For those with bad luck, i see it as the trials and tribulations of life disguised as bad luck. This kind of thing is what people must go through in order to get to the part of life where they can do things with ease because theyve already been through all the hardships. It comes and goes at different times for everyone, but it shouldnt be confused with bad luck.

REAL bad luck however, is completely different. According to me(aside from religious beliefs altho inspired) is random. In order for some people to be happy, others must suffer. Its the balance of life. Both sides of the scale cannot be high at the same time.

Now as for the shit thats going on with me, the "Strange" luck, its a sign that i was doing something wrong. Strange luck is what i see as a series of unnecessary mishaps that happen to people to let em know that something aint right.

My story goes like this, these last couple of weeks have been shitty, ive had wayyyyyyyy too many bullshit mishaps happen out of nowhere, all at the same fucking time. My iPod Touch gets stolen from my LOCKED locker at work, my video card dies out of nowhere, my gears of war 2 leaderboard stats got wiped, and a whole bunch of other wierd shit going wrong in my life. But Notice that these are all things that arent vital to me at all. I can buy another iPod, my video card is under warrenty and i can re-work on my gears stats without being a n00b so it aint all that bad.

But damnit all that was completely unnecessary, thats extra work that i gotta do -_-

So for a while i was thinking about what is it that i was doing to deserve this shit.......and then it hit me. It hit me during class(one that i was pretty much sleeping through)

Whats even funnier is how pathetic this is on my behalf.

So basically this is it, after class just about every monday and Wed for about a month or so, i would go get some mozzarella sticks from the school cafeteria and a NOS energy drink for Pre-calculus to stay awake in class. But one day, the line was hella long and theres no camera and i did NOT feel like waiting for that line. So.......i stole that shit. Put it right in the bottle holder on the side of my North face backpack, and kept it moving. Mind you, its still clearly visible to ANYONE that looks at my bookbag, but apparently the people that work at CUNY school cafeterias are all either convicts or have some sort of mental setback......basically its either they dont care, or they are too slow to notice/care and there was no way to catch me either cuz theres not enough people nor technology to see what i was doing.

So since i got away with this once, for a good month or two, i kept doin it. Even when there was no line and i ALWAYS have money. I would buy the Fries or Mozz sticks and steal the NOS. To be honest, it was so easy that it wasnt even thrilling. Taking it felt almost as simple as buying the damn thing, so i never sat back and thought to myself ".....damn....im stealing energy drinks?!" Normally, my conscious YELLS at me for shit like that, but there was no danger in doing it. Heck, there still isnt lol

So today i was sitting in class half alseep thinking about getting my NOS cuz i cant sleep thru Pre-cal. Notice I put the word "getting" in bold because thats exactly how it felt. I wasnt stealing, it was like the equivalent to going into your house fridge and grabbing some grape drink cuz youre thirsty.

Then out of nowhere it hit me, i WAS stealing. And my Conscious finally kicked in. "Elvin, WTF ARE YOU DOING?!, YOU ASSCLOWN!" It made complete sense from the luck standpoint that i mentioned earlier, all the wierd shit that happened to me was not BAD luck, but a sign that costed me time and money. They say a person who steals will lose X amount more then they stole, and this is what i think is going on with me. Nothing in my life changed at all, but i lost things of both economic and personal "VALUE"
And i believe that stealing only affects "VALUE" in everyones life.

You take something of value, you lose something of value. You take someones life, you will die 1,000 deaths(Raging Demon style!)

So today, i made sure i went and paid for my NOS. Will i tell them that ive been stealing? Hell no! But i promise myself and God that i wont steal again.

Do i think my strange luck streak is over because i found what i THINK the problem was? Absolutely not.

But this whole mind trip that ive taken has grown on me and now im gonna make my best effort to keep a positive karma even moreso by making SURE that all of my actions are what i believe is defined as righteous and beneficial to myself and everyone around me in hopes of improving myself into a better person with no signs of negative karma anywhere near me.

If you took the time to read, thanks lol

"Much success to ya, even if ya wish me the opposite, sooner or later we'll all soo who the prophet is"
