Newer games come in cases that can hold the manuals, so they are all set. My older games (SNES, N64, GB/C/A) did not. I have the older manuals separate in a box, while the games for them are in other storage units. My N64 games for example are in a pull out drawer unit. I think this is a horrible inefficient way to store both.

I would like to know how you store your old gaming manuals. I am looking for recommendations to properly store game manuals.

2010 Resolutions

Since it's the new year time for some resolutions. This year they are more or less goals for me....

Since it's the new year time for some resolutions. This year they are more or less goals for me.

1. Declutter my life

Right now I have a lot of what I call junk that is taking up space. I would consider myself a pack rat of a sorts. I have Transformers that I don't want anymore. There is a variety of old toys that I don't want. I am working on a plan to systematically get rid of the unwanted items. This is my number one goal this year. This also includes a variety of random other crap I have laying around the house.

I am already identifying what I can sell and make money on and what is useless and can either be thrown out or donated to a charity.

2. Focus on my career

This is really basically investing in myself to find a better job and leveraging the information I currently know about the IT field. The major part of this is getting my A+ Certification soon. What I mean by soon I am talking in the exam in about three months or so. I had the chance to get this certification several years earlier and passed the opportunity up because I though I could get a job without it. I realized I was wrong and I am working hard to get ready to take this test. While this is not the be all end all to get a a new job this will help my chances.

I also plan on doing more Freelance IT Consulting work to help maximize my earnings as my day job does not provide suitable compensation for me.

3. Become better at managing my finances and filing systems

I am probably the worst person in the world in managing my finances. I don't balance my checkbook, I spend money and then wonder what I spent it on. I keep accumulating debt and can't make headway. I have no real budget. I do pay my bills on time every month, surprisingly and I've never missed a payment. My filing system is in slightly better shape, but not by much.

The plan is to whip my finances into shape. I plan on accomplishing this by controlling what I spend. I will cut down on spending on things like DVDs, games and eating out. I will also create a budget that will work for me. I plan on opening up a high yield savings account and begin saving for something in the future. I already have a IRA open since early last year. It is automatically deducted from my checking each month.

The filing system I have to create more folders and stick to filing things right away when they come in. I usually wait a week or so before I file things. I have three miscellaneous folders that I shove random papers in. I do have folders made up for the important files. This is going to take work and pushing myself to do. I know I can do this, it's just that laziness takes over.

These are the major things I want to accomplish in 2010. There are some other minor goals that I would like to accomplish, but they are not that important to mention. I have avoided these three issues far too long and it's to bring them under control. These are important life skills that need to mastered. This will also help me to become less lazy in my life.

The Christmas Mysteries

So my Christmas went pretty well I got some small things from my family and the biggest thing I got...

So my Christmas went pretty well I got some small things from my family and the biggest thing I got was about $400 in cash. I was asked what I want from my family and I told them cash. What I really wanted was to have them pay for the A+ certification test I am going to take next year. Knowing my parents they would have gotten the wrong ticket for me to take test, so cash works better for me.

Everyone enjoyed the gifts they received. It was a pretty laid back Christmas since we didn't get around to opening gifts till about noon. Instead of turkey for dinner we had ham. It was really good. I spent the rest of the day playing The Beatles Rock Band. I was mostly working on achievements in the game. I capped Christmas off with the movie for the season, Die Hard.

Yesterday I meet up with some friends to see Sherlock Holmes. Throughout the whole movie I felt board and pretty much knew how it was going to play out at the end. I think my issue with it was that is they way Holmes was portrayed did not match up to what I expected him to be. I have not read any of the Holmes stories, but I did know some basics about his world.

I feel like I would have enjoyed Avatar in 3-D better than Holmes. Which I need to see at some point soon.

After the movie we went out to a bar. I ordered my usual drink, the Vodka Martini. I should say I don't drink often so this pretty much wasted me for the next hour and a half. After I felt better we left. I'm thinking about switching to Jack and coke in the future until I get some tolerance up.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! I'm not a religous person and I don't buy into the PC-ness of Happy Holidays. Which makes it odd that I celebrate Christmas, more so as a tradition. I hope all you gifts are protected from space invaders and that you gathers bring you happiness. :)

This is my first blog on CAG. I'm not really much of a participant in the community, but I think it's time to change that. I plan on writing about my life, gaming, and the universe.

Well before we begin this blogging journey I should talk about myself a bit. Let's see I'm 25 working in the IT field and so far I love it. I've been at my current employer for about a year and 8 months. The only down side is my hour commute to work which between this job and my last I've been dong for over three years. Oh I'm a geek based on the blog title.

On the gaming front I only own a Wii and use a PC for gaming. This combo has done well so far and it works. I don't fell like I'm missing much. I would like to get a PS3 at some point. I'm currently working on playing Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on my DS before I start the new Spirit Tracks.
