Shit. Another 7-12 inches tonight, and possible freezing rain. As if we didn't have enough from the storm on Tuesday. It took me 2 hours to get home, when it normally takes 45 minutes. And that was after just 2-3 inches snow. Can't wait to see what happens tonight/tomorrow AM.

Goddamn city is sitting on millions for the road-clearing fund, and isn't doing much to keep our streets salted and clear of snow. Our Alderman, Tom Allen is going apeshit on the Mayor, and trying to get him to divert more funding for the streets.

Update: Jan. 9:

Here we go again, ladies and gents!

So, apparently there was almost a shooting in my parking lot at work about 20 minutes ago.

I'm in the lunchroom eating a Panera turkey sandwich and perusing my Oblivion strategy guide (just started playing the game - a little late to the party, I know). Our presidents comes into the breakroom, and asks me if I heard about the guy in the parking lot with a gun. I reply "No way! What's going on?" and he tells me that the girls on the other side of the building had called the Westchester Police, as well as building security.

I jump up out of my seat and run to their office, where there are about 7 females and a dude from Accounting staring out the window of our 4th floor office, and they start explaining that 2 delivery dudes were fighting over a parking spot. Dude A (a whitey) pulled out a pool cue, and started bashing Dude B's (a black guy) car. Dude B pulls out a gun and gets into a crouched position, prompting Dude A to run into the building and alert security. Dude B gets into his car, finds a spot, and proceeds to take his delivery cart to the same building. A few minutes later (after my co-worker called security, and after the police have arrived), Dude A is seen being questioned by an officer, and then he gets into his car and drives off. Prior to this, police look into the windows of Dude B's car, but apparently do not find anything suspicious.

By this time, Dude B has finished his delivery and is seen exiting tower next door (our tower, as it turns out). The police exit about 100 yards behind him, and allow him to walk to his vehicle, put his little cart into the trunk, start the car and drive off! Everyone in the office who has just witnessed this is in complete shock and disbelief that the police are allowing this fellow to get away with almost shooting Dude A, so immediately call security to find out what the hell is going on, and ask how the hell they can allow a guy who pulls out a pistol on another guy to get away scott-free.

Both delivery guys have now left the premises, and the police are still milling around near the entrance to both buildings. As it turns out, security tells me that the police searched Dude B, but didn't find a gun. Well no shit, lady. The guy probably stashed it in the buidling someplace, or got rid of it! So then I call building security and ask why the police on site let this guy go without arresting him, to which they reply "Well, if you have new information about a weapon, you should probably call the police non-emergency number." I wanted to say, and while you're at it, why don't you put me on the payroll, since I'm now doing your job.

I wish I could have seen the whole thing play out, but I'm glad nobody got shot.

Man, I am just now getting over the 2nd-worst flu virus that I've ever had. Or maybe it was food poisoining? Puked from 6:30PM on Sunday until about 1:45AM Monday. Got maybe 2 hours of sleep. Had to call in sick yesterday, and slept for most of the day.

I think I cracked my right clavicle from puking so much. And my back feels like someone beat me mercilessly with a tire iron.

Why do human customer service reps always ask for your phone number, account number or other such information after you've already given that information to the automated lady at the beginning of the call? It's just annoying. It's like, why do you even have an automated service when you're just gonna ask me the same friggin' questions that I've just answered?!
